My overall point is that girls may not like him, but "Nigerian Girls" has got nutin to do with it . . . it might be dependent on a lot of factors . . . that song did not backfire in any way . . . if it's a club banger, ladies would most prolly be shakin' 'em waists to it in clubs . . .

Naija and hating. Everything is hating. He does it because he loves it, but like i said before, man must wack. Anyway, i rest my case. If what you are saying is true, then Mode is doing it HIS way at his own pace. If he's got a comfortable apartment, built in studio and drives a jeep then what else does an artist need?

Riches and awards are not the be all and end all. If he is comfortable then cool. He doesnt owe anybody anything, he will always have his GENUINE fans.

C'mon guys, do we really think Mode9 lives in a tree and cycles to work? Why would the fact he drives a car appear in the 'entertainment media'? is it really that newsworthy?If he is not into 'swagger' then thats his choice.

If he is comfortable and doing good ( he doesn't need to be gazzilionare to be doing good) then I'm cool with that.  As long as he has his core fans he will always do good.

Don't people get tired of listening to the same thing? Piracy is bad enough but this? Wot i mean is this. Each person is into music for different reasons. Elsewhere there are artistes that are just recording artistes and they make their proceeds from record sales and royalties. It's because of piracy that artistes really need to be commercial here and go for shows to really make money. However if some pple refused to follow the crowd and do wot they enjoy. i don't see a problem with that. Fela when he was alive prohibitted any radio station from playing his music without paying royalties. If an artiste has other sources of income he may choose not to go commercial and do wot he enjoys and pple of like minds will still patronise. It doesn't help the industry if everybody is doing the same thing. Big Bamo's songs are very commercial but he's not on all the shows because he has other businesses. Everyone has his/her own priorities. They shouldn't be condemned for that.

I'm beginning to think that ' Nigerian Girls' was a serious faux pas by Mode. It is a funny song and we all know he was joking around but did the joke backfire? It was supposed to be a Nigerian take on the Jay Z 'girls,girls, girls' song.

I played the song for my wife, yes, Rapjunkie is married and she liked the song ( It was funny) but she was offended by the overall message. She said she understood what Mode was trying to do but it said nothing positive about any [/b]Nigerian girls and was just steeped in stereotype. She also reminded me that Jay Z's version was much different because  he didn't just point out negative stereotypes in the song.  I had previously read similar comments made by girls on the M.I/Mode9 thread.

Now this got me thinking. . . . . . . . . 

If the girls don't like you then there is no way (generally) you are going to be commercially successful. Simple as!! Most girls seem to point out this particular song of Mode more than any other and they don't care about his lyricism or anything else.

We all know that the so called 'heads' only download free music so I reckon Mode has to find a way to apologise and then appeal to the ladies or his career will be over soon.

Or is it just me creating new theories in my head (according to lalaboi )
