I agree but read the person I replied to na. Did you see the comment that I quoted? I was replying to that message, not to the OP. My reply to the OP is further down and I agree with him. Where I disagreed is fully elaborated.

Since you, the OP, agreed to these conclusions, then,

Redmi Note 7's Versatility should be at least 8.5/10

Infinix Note 7: 4.5/10
Who dash them sef

It should be:
Redmi Note 7: 8.5/10
Infinix Note 7: 2.5/10

Edit: just looking at several comments and I can only shake my head. A handful didn't read it and some of those who did didn't understand. Your hatred for transsion has blinded reason.

I'm not a blogger.
I'm not an infinix marketer.
I'm a Xiaomi and realme fan
I tried to be as unbiased as possible. Infinix just like tecno has been so bashed over the years and deservedly so. Of course, Xiaomi products are out of their league.

I'm trying to help infinix here by comparing it to an older, cheaper phone.
If you can't see that this post indirectly supports redmi, then I have nothing to say.

The constant rivalry between transsion marketers and xiaomi fans continually rages on here on nairaland without any party intending to raise the white flag anytime soon. At the heart of this war is the infinix note 7 - To buy or not to buy?

In this short write up, we compare the infinix note 7 to its redmi namesake – the redmi note 7 to see who comes out on top. Let’s assume both devices cost the same to help infinix out (since its price is clearly broad daylight robbery in comparison to its Chinese counterparts).

For specs,
https://m.gsmarena.com/infinix_note_7-10175.php
(infinix note 7)

http://m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_7-9513.php
(redmi note 7)

DESIGN

In design, its no contest. The Infinix has a larger screen to body ratio as well as thinner bezels all round compared to the redmi. The hole punch is also a sexier modification of the water drop notch. On the rear, the camera bump is centered, meaning the device rocks less when placed on a flat surface. The circular camera bump also feels refreshing and new in contrast to the now ubiquitous side/centered vertical camera bump. The redmi note 7 in comparison looks outdated with its thicker bezels. Design-wise, its not a contest.

Redmi = 6/10
Infinix = 8/10

DISPLAY

Lets start with display size. Even for the large screen lovers out there, we can agree that 7 inches is just too ridiculous to fit into the pocket and is impossible to use one handed. If your want to view content on anything larger than a 6.5 inch phone, you might as well switch to a laptop or tablet. The fact that the infinix has a HD+ display stretched across that display makes it even worse. Trained eyes will clearly notice pixelation but the less savvy may not care. 6.3 inches is a better balance between portability and screen estate than 7 inches. The choice could have been subjective, but the fact that the note 7 also adds a HD+ resolution means it loses this round (the redmi has a full HD resolution). There’s a limit to how big smartphones should get and 7 inches is honestly past that limit.

How about screen protection? The redmi has Gorilla glass 5 front and back. Gsmarena mentions gorilla glass for infinix but does not specify. Looking at transsion’s history, it’s safe to say that it wont be 5. Most likely a 3.
Redmi – 8/10
Infinix – 6/10

PERFORMANCE

Performance is divided into two categories. OS optimization(software) and sheer performance(hardware). For OS optimization, it’s a draw. Lets face it, MIUI isn’t the most fluid OS out there. There are always occasional stutters here and there (especially in their midrangers) and I’m speaking purely from experience. XOS isn’t any better either. MIUI has a reputation of aggressive multitasking, transsion phones also have difficulties keeping apps in memory. So, for OS, it’s a draw.
In sheer processor performance however, the G70 in the infinix wipes the floor with the snapdragon 660 in the redmi . No too much talk, no argument. But overheating has always been a problem with MediaTek chips and still is as seen with the G90t. But that’s still not an excuse.

Redmi 6/10
Infinix 8/10

OS skin. The software experience is very important as that’s your navigation tool for the phone. MIUI and XOS are not stutter free but MIUI has by far more features and has mastered the gesture navigation system. Not to mention its eye candy animations. Simply put, XOS is dry in comparison. Both skins are laced with ads though.

Redmi 8/10
Infinix 6/10

CAMERA

Camera. This should be an argument between both stock cameras, but I’m yet to see a redmi note 7 user without gcam installed. (MediaTek does not natively support gcam. The only reason the redmi note 8 pro has gcam support is because of its popularity). It’s a question of quality against quantity/versatility. And please don’t bring up the macro camera argument. If its not 5MP, please don’t bother. So, in my opinion the choice is subjective. I say they are both on par. If you’re quoting me, don’t mention any transsion marketing gimmicks like hyper AI, low light, bla bla marketing rubbish. That one na akuko.
For video, redmi has three options of 1080p @ 30fps, 60fps and 120fps for slow mo. It also offers EIS at 30fps. The infinix with such performance should be rocking 4k 30fps and 960fps slow mo (interpolated). But it only offers 1080p at 30fps which is shameful. Hopefully, more options come later in an update, but until then, infinix is playing second fiddle.

Redmi: versatility 6/10 Image Quality 8/10 Video Quality 7.5/10
Infinix: versatility 6.5/10 Image Quality 6/10 Video Quality 6/10

BATTERY/CONNECTION

Type C against Micro USB is just spec sheet bragging rights if we are to be practical. The USB data transfer technology is still the same on both @USB 2.0 (come on guys, the LG V20 of 2016 had USB 3.0) They also both sport 18W fast charge capabilities. The only difference here is in the shape of the port. In Nigeria, micro USB is still more widespread than Type C. But for the price, infinix had an obligation to put a Type C no doubt. So as for that they get a downvote.
Infinix has a bigger 5000mah battery in comparison to the redmi’s 4000mah. (Infinix may have the more efficient chip, but we both know MediaTek chips are inherently inefficient compared to their snapdragon counterparts while being on the same fab process). That’s really good as it translates to significantly better battery life than the redmi note 7.

Redmi: 7/10
Infinix : 8/10

MISSCELLANEOUS

Fingerprint placement.
A side fingerprint scanner offers more functionality than a rear mounted one as the phone can be unlocked while its on a surface without having to pick it up. Also, its definitely a cooler concept that establishes bragging rights among your peers

Brand reputation
Xiaomi is a more internationally recognized company with a huge global fanbase, widely known and supported by an active development community. Infinix is none of those.

Development Community
Xiaomi has one of the biggest smartphone development communities in the world alongside a large global following which means that any issues with xiaomi products will reach the oem faster. This also means that THERE ARE ALWAYS A PLETHORA OF CUSTOM ROMS available for xiaomi phones which can be flashed in the wake of a buggy update or if the product reaches the end of its update cycle. Xiaomi’s updates are also more frequent than infinix’s.

Redmi = 8/10
Infinix = 6/10

CONCLUSION.
This comparison as earlier mentioned is focused on spec sheet comparison. For the average consumer, the infinix would be the better choice. It offers better performance, nicer design, more cameras and bigger battery albeit with an unwieldy screen. But I personally would pick the redmi. I love flashing custom roms back to back. And i’d rather quality over quantity anyday when it comes to photos.

TOTAL
Redmi = 64.5/90 = 71.6% = A
Infinix = 60.5/90 = 67% = B+

Despite the redmi note 7 winning this battle, the infinix note 7 is the better option for the AVERAGE consumer and bests the redmi in raw specs.
If we replace the note 7 with the note 7 pro or note 8, then it’s increasingly difficult to go with the infinix. The note 7 pro matches it in performance, while the note 8 completely bests it in quantity and quality of cameras. Throw the redmi note 8 pro or the note 9 into the equation and it’s child abuse for the Infinix note 7. Adjusting for inflation and exchange rate increase, the infinix note 7 is still overpriced. But they’ve finally upgraded from helio p35. That’s a good thing.
Another amateur has decided to post nonsense.
Type C takes advantage of USB 3.2, 3.1 and 3.0 allowing you to transfer data at speeds of 5 to 20Gbps.

When it comes to charging, it can deliver up to 100W of power. Type C is designed as a one-size-fits-all to allow it to replace connector cables in smartphones, game controllers, HDMI, cameras, laptops, or any other devices.

The USB type C on the RN7 is actually a version 2.0.

The charging is capped at 18W. But the data transfer speeds are faster than the micro-USB 2.0. the reversible charging too is another sweet deal that micro-USB users won't know until they try it.

All my chargers are Q.C 3.0 power delivery port chargers.

I see some people are saying the Op is endorsing/supporting the infinix base on the year comparison. But failed to realize that the op is supporting Redmi.

If u read the thread painstakingly u will realise that the op knew infinix won't have any chance (even a bit) against the Redmi. But out sympathy (for infinix) he just make dem chop small point make them no die finish patapata. This shows that infinix is complete CAMOUFLAGE TOY!!!

Czech Check the first couple of paragraphs. I mentioned 'to help infinix life'. Obviously, if we are to take price into consideration, then this should be the note 8/8 pro vs the infinix note 7. And Infinix would be knocked out clean so I used the redmi note 7 to give it a fighting chance. Looking at price, Redmi note 7 certainly offers better value for money.

I think the majority are choosing redmi cause of the price, and if permitted I will say the price would ve been way different if the redmi 7 series was to be launched in these pandemic times.

Mind you the toll the effect of coronavirus has on the shipment of smartphones and gadgets was huge, hence the price difference, I would say infinix did a good job with the note 7.

Though there is still room for improvement.

Incorrect. The Redmi Note 9s was released during this pandemic and is priced similarly to the Infinix Note 7.

The RN9s outclasses the Infinix Note 7 in all areas.

TBH, I thought this thread was dead. Surprised about the amount of likes I've garnered so far. grin

U Think GSMArena did not know what's up, they knows Infinix is likely to lie about the spec but it is not their duty to tell public about it, their duty is to publish the specs the the manufacturer presented to them, why don't they put the same disclaimer for Redmi or other brands like Samsung/Huawei/OPPO/Realme and co.
have you used the phone and see if they lied ? Why is MI K20 pro different from the one in Nigeria ?

lol, Trassion lies alot about their specs, the lie is an open lie that tech savy will know but novice will not know.

let me give u some examples

TECNO CAMON 15 premier has 64MP and quad Camera but helio P35 can not support above 25MP single camera and 13*13 dual camera.
is that not a lie?
https://www.mediatek.com/products/smartphones/mediatek-helio-p35
that is the link directly from mediatek website.

Tecno Camon 15 claim 48MP and quad camera while mediatek says Helio P22 used in the phone can't support more than 21MP and dual 13*8MP
Is that not a lie?

https://www.mediatek.com/products/smartphones/mediatek-helio-p22

this is also from mediatek website.

If trassion can lie about things so open and easy to finds out, which other things did trassion wouldn't lie about, BATTERY CAPACITY, RAM, DISPLAY etc ?

Also if trassion lies about one of their brand 's premium product, what guarantee do we have they don't lie about their other brands such as itel and infinix ?

I'm not aware of any difference in redmi k20pro in Nigeria and other countries, what I'm aware of is that their is Chinese varient, India varient and EU or global vareient. This is not new, infact it is common with all Chinese phones because of competition and individual market requirements.

i use realme x 2 pro Chinese version and i notice huge difference from the one in the review.

favorites to only dummies who knows next to nothing about phones, same reasons is why infinix and tecno can't make it in sane market where people knows their left from right.

logically, it is thesame reason we praise our local politicians to high heaven when they are all mediocre from north to south.
