They have been dead for a while before their bodies were discovered. That face is already decomposing that is why it looks to dark.
They are probably those ones that escape with gunshot wounds and later died due to lack of good medical attention.

Quick question folks, I read about French bases all around Nigeria especially in francophone countries around us, the question is, Why do the British not have similar bases in Africa or around the world like the Americans? is it that its not part of British foreign policy or is Britain no longer the power it once was? Your thoughts on this please.

The bolded is your answer, coupled with the fact that they are stingy, military bases cost money. They are the only colonial masters that no longer have the slightest of impact/presence on their colonies in recent years..

In NATO only France & Turkey have demonstrated the capability to independently deploy on individual military operations in recent times.

Other NATO members including Britain depend to a large extent on America to provide security for them.

Also you rightly pointed out British foreign policy, and with regards to French bases in west-africa, with the resounding defeat the French military suffered in World War II, they did not want their colonies to be completely free, so that in the event Germany defeats them again in another war, they can still have access to resources.

With regards to Britain they are no longer the power they once where, they still have the means to defend themselves but they cannot independently sustain operations abroad for very long periods. Again, they have America as a security guarantee.

Sad. Very sad. I think its safe to assume that in the unlikely scenario of a fight between France and the UK, the once great British military will be completely decimated.

Thanks Gen Kabe. Personally I think British military education/training is outdated and no longer useful. Nigeria should stop sending personnel there for training and concentrate on more serious countries.

I don't think that assumption is right. The fact that Britain is an Island works really well in her favour.

French military history is not glorious. In world war 2, the French had better tanks and more tanks than Germany, yet the Germans completely took over the nation of France in 2 weeks.

So in a hypothetical war, modern war between France and Britain, I'll go with Britain.

British military training is up to date. Because they don't have the airpower of the Americans, British infantry men are trained to be well grounded.

Where as, in America once troops are in contact, they immediately call in air support.

Air superiority guarantees American ground forces both freedom to attack and freedom from attack. Air superiority is fundamental to the US way of war.

So if we look at these two systems, it is clear why style suits the Nigerian army.

The bolded is largely the answer to your question. After WW2 and the Suez crisis of the 50s, their Empire just seemed to wane away. They're still "opening bases" on economies and media tho
