My 2005 Toyota Corolla with 1zz engine usually makes this cold start rattling sound that last 1 to 2 seconds. After that, you don't get to hear the sound again until it's cold. It doesn't short oil, the oil light is not on but sometimes the check engine light comes on and goes off. I use recommended oil. Please I need advice on what to do to eliminate this annoying noise at cold start. Thank you.

My car had that problem. A mechanic diagnosed a loose belt. The noise stopped when a slightly shorter belt was fixed

That would make sense (belt slippage so oil pump does not engage properly at first) but sometimes this can also be caused by using oil with higher viscosity rating for that environment.

It will therefore require momentary circulation to achieve full lubrication.

I use recommended oil,5w 30

Same symptoms don't necessarily means same culprit ,his own fix might not be applicable to your own car issue Best bet go for diagnoses to get to the root

Its also happens to my sienna only wen i put on de AC

Hehehe and you people call Mercedes Benz costly to maintain? Hahahaha.... You're better off in a W202 C klasse if you don't know. That engine can outlive you..... Laughing here.... Show me one well built Toyota engine I'll show you twenty Mercedes Benz engines built for ecstasy... Benz don't just build engines...they generally build them in such a way that the driver will always have a climax behind the wheels....

I have no problem with my car but wen I read problem or issue on car on nairaland, I always want to learn d final solution to d issue so that other that pick up d write up will also learn from them. Thank u

I never loved toyota engines
I just love honda (over love)

but truth be told, benz engines are durable and their transmission also. their only problem is electrical.

however, I'm still not a benz freak
