Why is the nekede ihiagwa obinze road started by past administration abandoned undecided

Has it really been abandoned? As at November last year, they were working on the road.

Side note: I might be wrong, but please from the pictures posted, it seems they are just pouring tar on the old road. Won't it ggegt spoilt easily that way?

Well, every state has something that works for them. Imo has decided to pick the hospitality business and it is working for them. Let me add that putting aside personal bias, some of the hotels in Imo state will stand side-by-side with major hotels in Lagos. Only thing they don't have yet is *a known brand*, which I believe they are working on.

We should note that the presence of hospitality has opened business for other sectors such as agriculture sector..

So, I don't think there is anything wrong with Imo state being a hub for hospitality in the south east
Imi state needs to diversify. The hospitality business is not viable and favourable to us

Ignorance is a bad thing

1) First of all, no factory will be sited in owerri, except at the outskirts. Government will have to create an industrial zone if there is none. Places like Oguta, ohaji, Awonmama, Mgbidi, Obinze,Naze are fertile zones for industries.

2) The hotels/ Clubs/Bars/Restaurants/ Malls/ Grocery stores/ etc in owerri make up the Hospitality/leisure/Recreational industry. The same way buses(both long distance and intercity), plane, bikes, keke all make up the transport industry. So yes, building an hotel or any of the mentioned is not a waste. People were employed in building them, an architect drew the building plan, someone sold the land, supplied the sand, cement, wood, stones gravel etc. And in running the hotel also, people will be employed as well as other affiliated service will be created

3) Building a power generator is the DUTY of the federal government, not even the state government can.

4) A world class stadium is not a bad idea, but who will build it? Who will use it? Who will maintain it? Does owerri have a competitive advantage in sports and sport affiliated businesses? And who makes the final decision in building such a facility, Government or the private investor?

5) Finally, all states or cities, don’t have to be factory zones. Let Anambra and Abia continue with their factory development, while Ebonyi focus on agriculture and solid minerals. After working and making money, then come down to Owerri or Enugu to enjoy your money. If we build factories in all our cities, we are still going to be the ones to complain about Air and water pollution sometimes in the future.

How many factories do you have in Dubai, yet people troop there for work and leisure? Use you head and stop exposing your ignorance. For every hotel or mall or supermarket or whatever that is built, value have been added to the economy of the state, just as value of land have increased.if nigeria was a working country where policies are consistent and functional, do you know how much money can be made from taxes on land use, asides taxes from businesses?

This assertion is very false.

IMO state hospitality business ain't favorable.

Even if we can't focus on industries we should focus on ict

Owerri craze seems to continue.
But when shall Imo get elite class that understands that Owerri can’t contain one-quarter of the population of Imo state?

Enugu state had to prop up a new governor from Nsukka zone to modernize Nsukka area for population shift from Enugu. Gov Ugwuanyi is just doing that.

Abia state had to prop up a new governor from Aba zone to work on the dilapidated infrastructures in Aba and environs. Gov Ikpeazu is just doing that. Few talk about Umuahia these days as before.

In Imo, just provide durable source for public water supply and tertiary education institutions in Orlu and Okigwe areas, that’s all it shall take for modernity and population shift to both areas.

If the people of Imo state talking about, and craving more government infrastructures and institutions only in Owerri, also campaign for modern development infrastructures and institutions for Orlu and Okigwe areas, at least, to save Owerri from becoming a chaotic city, the governors would have listened to them.
To me okigew area doesn't really need tertiary institution as Absu is already close to it, I think they should site it in mbano area

I get you, but it's a good start. Atleast, we need somewhere to place one feet on.

What sectors do you think we diversify into? Don't forget we already get income from oil

I didn't see this. ICT? Where will the constant electricity needed for it come from? If states like Las Vegas focus on it, why can't Imo do same?

I support ICT , but I feel it's more of an individual thing. If there is good electricity and good network pricing . Facebooks and Amazon's would be formed in Imo state within little time

Oil is phasing out sooner than expected though, this one that countries are now rushing electric cars. Truly it seems hospitality is all our businessmen can think about now because I don't see IMSG building electrity power plant anytime soon (which is needed for ICT)

Tourism is a good option too.. e.g Oguta lake

Thank you, my brother.

Tourism and hospitality actually go side by side. That's another area Rochas had a pass mark. During his tenure, Imo organized various festivals and carnivals which brought people from different parts of the country/world to the state.

With Geometric power plant in Aba, I wonder why they haven't thought of expanding their power distribution to Imo state, as this will boost many businesses.

You know, it's one thing for people to mention that Imo state should diversify, when you ask what VIABLE areas we can diversify to, they keep mum. All a reasonable government will do is to create enabling environment, it's the duty of the citizens to carry out the actual diversification. But where the citizens are bereft of ideas, then we better stay put with what we have and improve on it

Half bread, they say, is better than chinchin

Where's the useless old man called abagworo. I am not bringing this up because I wanna mock Imo state, but because when Anambra recorded its first case, then Imo had zero, you were all over the place mocking Anambra. Just yesterday Imo recorded 26 new cases. The only reason you still pretend all over the place is because you are yet to see anything to mock others with. Now see your Imo state.

Useless monkey. Do I even remember that there's a state called Imo state, not to talk of thinking about it. I only remembered because your brother used this same issue against another state.

Scotmisile, you are also guilty of the same thing, your past posts are replete with such posts against our state.

Evil people, all they do is pretending, once they see any reason to mock others, they won't pretend anymore, they take advantage of it.

Hope Uzodinma reminds me of Chris ngige.

They stole another person's mandate, then they win the hearts and minds of the people through purposeful governance with the delivery of high-quality projects.

Then the people are opposed to removing him from office because he turned out to be a high performer, even if the mandate was stolen. grin grin grin
