How To Fix Your Airbed Or Air Mattress With A Bulge by ayosiku(op): 12:25pm On May 31, 2020
Contrary to the general negativity that airbeds have, they still remain the most convenient mattresses to buy and move into your home either for casual or regular usage. They are superb options for camping by the way . I recently bought an airbed because of some cash constraint ( I also needed a quick fix) . Unfortunately , my mattress developed a bulge right in the middle and I was not able to fix until quite a number of trials . I could not also find a helpful video or article online . There can be two reasons ( I will also give the fixes) :-

1. You could have over-inflated the bed, so it is stretched out in the middle. To fix this, just deflate and let some air come out until it balances and evens the surface out.

2. There could be an internal leakage ( non visible ):- In rare cases there could be a leakage under the fabric outer layer that you cannot see and cannot patch . Most people will tell you throw your bed away but there is a fix. Steps :-

(a) Deflate
(b) Tear open the suede / fabric our covering . Be careful not to use force or blade as you can make a mistake and tear the rubber inside. It comes off quite easily whenever there is an internal leak. Remove the suede completely.
(c) Next you pump the bed. During the new pump process you will notice there is no more bulge.
(d) Be patient and find where the leakage is by putting up the bed against a wall and putting your ear 2 inches away. When you find the leak, half of your problems are solved.
(e) Use some duct tape or clear tape to block the leak. This is temporary .
(d) You can decide to cut out some of the rubber patch and place it over the hole ( with some carp-enters glue).
(e) You can also find experts that can cover up the leak cheap.
