Onitsha is made up of three groups of people.

The first are the Edos.

The second are the Igalas. They were the people that were fishing by the Niger as of the time the Onitsha people came to settle there.

Yorubaland is made up of three groups of people

Igbos- courtesy of Lagos (No man's land) and several other SW towns which have been bought by the Igbos, and also the rapid integration of Igbos into these towns and cities that have now given a cosmopolitan face-lift to yorubaland in general.

Hausa/Fulani's- These people are said to be the eternal conquerors of the Yoruba people, they share or in most cases control the sociopolitical fabric of the Yoruba people. Ilorin for instance, is now a conquered Fulani enclave, with the religious and traditional monarchy tilting heavily to a 60:40 ratio (between Muslims and Christians respectively ), and traditional stool of authority firmly in the hands of a Fulani ruling family. Lagos(No man's land) as a mega city also has several of its strategic sectors been dominated and controlled by the Hausa/Fulani tribe.. just like it's ports authorities, civil services, inland revenues, borders and waterways.

Yorubas-- Need I say more? the information above has buttressed all the points. But the Yoruba people despite been docile in nature, are very very nice people... they are our noble accommodators. But watch out for yorooba Muslims though, those people can sell your destiny for a plate of Amala and Gbegiri.

Looool. What is the connection between events in 16th century southern Nigeria and some obscure jihad in North Africa at that time? Which jihad was that sef?

And Onicha has nothing to do with Orisha, neither did Onicha people pass through Ile-Ife. This encrustation of oral tradition with elements that were not there a mere 50-60 years ago is annoying.
