I feel like crying right now.

The English teaching job market in vietnam Vietnam is massive right now.

Just join any of the Facebook groups and you will see over 5 to 10 job vacancies posted daily.

I admire @WhyNa who is there right now and which am there too.

My prediction is that this will continue like that till around December because of no international movement. The teachers presenting in vietnam can't meet up with the job openings openings available.

I learnt they will be opening up their borders by July ending but they might only those from countries with minimal or zero new cases.

Make we dey pray dey hope oh.

Yes the market favours the NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS but sincerely there is also a market for us blacks.

If we believe we can make it.

@WhyNa, how far, how are you doing? Any update for the boys?

Udo diri anyi.

Permanent residence keh. Mbah nu. The goal is to eventually move....when depends on some factors. I'm more concerned about income VS cost of living

You can apply for temporary residence. Even those who get married to their citizen don't get permanent residence like that. First, they give them a 5 year visa exempt or something of that nature

You've said the truth and nothing but the truth!

Let's hope July is feasible and yes they'll start with countries with lesser or no Covid-19 cases.

I'm doing good. The heat is crazy.

Aside teaching, how is their ICT sector? Are there a ton of programming jobs.

From my research I think there are but I discovered they favour Vietnamese citizens and graduates of a Vietnamese university more.

Also, the pay is low oh compared to teaching. For undergraduate internship position, you get about 200 to 400$, full time should be somewhere close for entry level oh. THese are information from FTP university.

They don't really teach programming in any university at a deep level. I see a lot of programming jobs with visa sponsorship to Vietnam but if the pay is so low then na one chance o

Stumbled on this thread in the office, started reading and finally got to the last page.
Whyna, kudos to you. You did a really good job.
For those considering going to Vietnam to teach English, you can also look at other Asian countries like; Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, etc.
South Korea alone has about 3 government programs (EPIK, TALK, SMOE,etc) that recruit teachers from 7 specific countries, (unfortunately the only country in Africa they recruit from is South Africa).

Not to be deterred though, Hagwons (Private schools) in SK sometimes work with agencies to recruit teachers. You can also try applying directly to them. Because Nigeria is not considered as a NESC, its advisable to have your TEFL or TESOL certificate before applying.
You can also search for teaching jobs in SK on some websites like eslcafe.com, eslteachersboard.com.

There are really good opportunities out there, especially for prospective teachers. So just do your research, reach out to agencies, start your TEFL certification, pray about it and hope for the best.

https://www.nairaland.com/5912465/seven-nigerians-arrested-5.2m-scam/1

Top1gun:
Seven Nigerians have been arrested in Vietnam for allegedly cheating many people of more than $5.2 million.

They were arrested alongside four Vietnamese suspects, according to a Vietnam-based news website, VN Express.

The newspaper quoted Vietnamese police as saying, “the arrests were the result of investigations triggered by a complaint made in late April by a woman in Hue Town in central Vietnam.”

The woman reportedly told the police that she’d been scammed online by a foreigner and ended up losing VND3.9 billion ($168,000).

In tracing the money, the police discovered it had been transferred into different bank accounts and withdrawn from different Automated Teller Machines in Ho Chi Minh City.

“After more than 15 days of investigation in HCMC, the police of Thua Thien – Hue Province arrested three Nigerians: Ugochukwu Nnaemeka, 24; Stanley Umed, 29; and Nnaka Frankline, 36. They also arrested three Vietnamese citizens: Ngo Hai Nghi, 24; Vu Ai Linh, 24; and Dao Dang Vu, 33,” it said.

Using testimony collected from these people, the police found and arrested Pham Ngoc Duy, who claimed to have bought bank accounts that he sold to the gang for VND7-8 million ($301-344) each.

Duy also helped this group to withdraw money at the ATMs for a two percent commission.

From what Duy told the police, they detained three more Nigerians: Chukwugekwe Godwin Ajearo, 34; Ugochukuwu Okechukwu Jam, 35; and Ogo Emeka Donal, 35.

“Using this modus operandi, they have appropriated VND120 billion ($5.2 million) from many victims across the country. The police have found 71 bank accounts and more than 53 fake identification cards as well as multiple Facebook accounts associated with the crime.

“The case is being investigated further,” police said.

It would be more than enough.

Rent an apartment. Hostels are for backpackers

@ WhyNa

I have this desire to spend the duration of waiting for NYSC call up in another country. Vietnam to be precise because it's said to be a cheap destination compared to UK/US. I am 22 year old and plan to go there alone.

I budget about 1m (3k usd) for a period of 6 months to a year.

How possible is this, because their visa is 3 months max for tourist visa. If I can renew my visa while I am still in their country would 3k usd be enough for 6months stay?

I would like to have a break down on rent, transportation and feeding for people on budget. Like, the cheats I could use to live on that budget for that period of time. Like hostels or church where I can stay... uno things like that.

My main aim is just to clear my head and focus on self building and to cure my depression. I will be spending most of my time in a cafe gaining skills during the week then use the weekend for tourism.

NB: I am using a new account for privacy concerns.

Bro, 3k dollars will be very enough for that 6 months but my big fear is the posibility of getting a tourist visa as a Nigerian, bro i doubt if they still give tourist visa to Nigerians. The best option will be going through an agent of which you will need to be careful in looking for a reliable one. @WhyNa has written about this before so play your card well.

I Am not in Vietnam but from my research expect something like This, so you will now need to look for where and how to cut your expenses.

If you get accomodation of like $200×6=1,200
Feeding n utility per month $100x6=600
Flight $900
Total..........$2,700
Visa............xxxxx

If you can get an apartment of 150 or even 100 dollar, good.

@WhyNa should have more detailed info.

My advice.
Leave going to Vietnam for now, complete your NYSC and save more then just migrate fully to Vietnam or go to Vietnam for the 6months, get a teaching job and just stay there.

Trust me, you don't need to spend 1m to go and cool your brain then come back to do NYSC. That might not be the best decision.

If you want to cool off, trust me you can achieve that in Nigeria, relocate to another state that is cool.

Finally, I believe you might have more reasons for wanting to cool off there, if they are legit, by all means ride on. Maybe you should send @WhyNa a mail and give her more details, she might create time and guild you better.
Good luck bro.
