Marotzke:
you obviously don't do Government contract business in Nigeria, because if you do, you would have known that Government don't go to market to make purchases, contractors do.
So in addition to the price you quoted add first 30% importers profit from whom the contractor buys the trucks from.
Then 10%witholding tax, 10% or is it 7.5%VAT
Then sundry deductibles takes another 5%.
So in this very contract Government deducts 25%or 22.5%of the contract sum.
So already the actual value of the contract is approaching 1.4 billion Naira.
Take out party contribution and other extra expenses and the contractor is going home with about 350 million on a 1.8billion Naira contract.
If a bank funded the contract executiion, another 100million naira will go .
This is for a good case scenario.
What if Aregbe was changed as minister?
The contract may fail altogether and the contractor heading for his village broke or answering to EFCC over a failed bank loan.
Thank you for this.

Not everything is the way it is.

There might be servicing options and parts warranty that come with it.

When we procure Laptops, each costs almost twice what you have on the market because of add ons, extended warranties and a lot of extra package a regular Joe won't buy. Those things can double costs, also consider shipping and Contractor profit.
Why not patronize INNOSON instead?

According to the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbeshola, these "ultra modern fire service trucks" cost whooping N1.8 billion.

The truck actual name is TGM 18.280 fire fighter truck, and the price is €195,000 in VAN VLIET.

Even if CBN sold euros to you at € 1 = ₦ 439 ( which I don't think so), then each truck should cost you ₦85,605,000 and ten should cost ₦856,000,000

Say with the shipping and clearing of these trucks you should still spend a maximum of 95 million naira each!

In other words, Rauf have swallowed the remaining 900 million naira
They are bunch of scammers robbing on broad day light

The value of the naira has dropped, you know.
wrong. These calculations haven't even done justice to the situation. The trucks were not procured/paid for today. They must have been paid for at the very least 3months ago. This was imported. I would say it is most likely even farther than 3months. The exchange rate when this was paid for, is far less than what is obtainable today.

What would cost a sane government to probe this ensuring that part of the funds wasn't diverted to their personal pocket.
One thing I know is that the fire service dept in Nigeria needs a whole new management that would see to the proper management of the service and also working towards a vision of safe guarding the environment.

We do need a new sense of identity.

I don't expect something good from this man any day, any year. A politician with extra greed and every evil things "Extra".
#100m+ for this Firefighters truck?
This corn-tree is a shithole true true!

I'm based in Osun and I can attest to all his evil and extra inflated contract he awarded to himself.

The dualization of Gbongan road to Ila-odo in Osun state will never see the light of commissioning in 3 to 4 years to come.
Because the contractor use "crude implement" for construction.

There was a time I was travelling along Ikirun - Dabgolu in the night. I saw the contractors working with torches while they coat the road.

I have picture evidence's in case you want to argue!

Contributory pension is just like a pendulum bulb that keeps dangling and never getting to the deserving pensioners.
Credit to Aregbesola Rauf.

"Igi iye" gulps hundred millions of naira but you can't see mahogany or tick where the project was launched.

The ministry of interior will never remain the same.
In fact there can be downturn of the name " "Interior of ministry"
Eventually there would be no reasonable court of law to hear the case aftermath!

Quote me if you have "facts".

1. Very irresponsible to post picture or irrelevant and old looking fire engine to compare with a new fire engine with the the latest and modern features.

2. If you are going to compare, look for the same latest and modern fire engines with the same features and package as displayed by the OP.

3. Your calculation of course was ignorant since you can not categorically speculate per the actual price, the actual shipping cost, the overall purchase package and contingencies like parts, maintenance, training.

4. You don't know anything and your gist is limited to guessing and whatever old and relic fire engine you based your theory on, on top of the fact you don't know anything about the purchase agreements and after support arrangements they obviously paid for.

It's really sad and pathetic the manner many of you spew ignorant rubbish just to get cheap likes from other ignorant people with meager capacity to think rationally and logically.

I'm sure those trucks cannot be more than 80 million... But let's assume each costs 100 million, so our minister will be chopping 800 million. I yam not surprised, he was once our governor and I know what and how he did then

Not my business to defend anyone but if a vehicle cost 85m, there is no way customs duty will be 10m. It will be way more than that. Everything else you stated is quite in order.

You think the calculation is so easy like that. Cleared 4 cars last month with N7.6m excluding shipping cost from Canada compare with a truck.
Most shipping are done by $1.5/kg.
