Security - Decentralise the Police, given the constitution makes provision for that. Establish a zero-tolerance policy in the Police Force and the Military. This approach is a strategy to eradicate the abuse of power by law enforcement on citizens. Push a bill that allows for a jury of citizens to serve as the balanced check that needed to keep the force accountable. This will reinforce the idea of a government by people in the our democracy.
Nysc - Mandatory 1 year military reserve service for all citizens. Eligible for enrollment by the age of 18 and must be completed by age 35.
Citizen database - for identification

Infrastructure - Leverage the service of the enlisted Nysc members in a Govenrment driven accelerated infrastructural development, obviously cooperation with experts. we'll create 3000 miles of roads and 1500 miles of rail line respectively every year. Increased infrastructural capacity will positively impact investments in logistics and transportation and industrilization.
I'll further deconstruct power distribution, will allow distributors to compete for customers without location restriction.

Education enormous investment in Public schools starting from Elementary all the way up to the University. We'll rennovate our schools, provide adequate supplies for the classrooms, build Federal public Libraries in every capital city.
Open up Federal Universities for international research purposes, sponsor research in Medicines, Science and Technology
Incentivize computer and information technology/science/engineering studies all across the country.

Tourism, allow ease of access for innovative ideas from local start-ups, international brands to launch their businesses. this will be another avenue for job creation creation through small businesses, and possible investment opportunities.

And finally use my execute powers to push for a decentralized federal government, and more independent states, a change to the constitution that will define clearly the rights of persons and institutions and firmly uphold those rights with the necessary checks and balance in place.

This is the most reasonable thing i have seen so far.

If I was the president I would do four things:

1. I will make it a law for government contracts to be given directly to companies that will execute them, and will spell out conditions for contractors to qualify for government projects which should include compulsory registration in Nigeria, must have a certain employee strength as Nigerians, must have been executing similar projects for at least 15 years for federal government projects and 10 years for state government projects with visible track record and excellence.

2. Starting from myself, I will make a law that makes it mandatory for anyone under government payroll to have their wards patronize government institutions or they resign. This must include all civil servants, ministers, senators, governors, teachers, police, workers of state cooperation and establishment, all government workers and anyone who is paid by the government and works for the government. Their children must go to public schools and they and their children and wife must patronize public hospitals. This is the only way attention can be drawn to public institutions.

3. I will give monthly stipend to any woman who is willing to do virginity test less than a week before her marriage. Premarital sex is the major cause of cultism and youth related violence in our society. To bring back sanity to our society, I will encourage youth to abstain from pre marital sex by paying a monthly stipend to a woman who can prove she has done so as long as she remains married to one man who is not and will not marry another woman. Stipend will be stopped if husband passes away or she leaves her husband or the husband marries another woman.

4. Lastly, I will ban all religious activities in the public institutions. While religious bodies are allowed to own schools, hospitals, etc; building of worship centers in schools, government establishment and public establishment will be forbidden, including government houses.

The first thing I would do is to pin the maximum number of children a couple can have at 3. After 3, either husband or wife must undertake compulsory birth control methods. Anyone who feels like they need more children (especially poor families) must give tangible reasons and make sure that sufficient resources are made available for their children in the case of death.
This Will curb the ballooning of the country's population and allow for the management and harnessing of the already overwhelming population.

Every other thing Will follow after that.

Why three? That will still lead to an expanding population, when there is already a population problem. Two children per couple (assuming one husband, one wife) will maintain the population. One child per couple will reduce the population.
Would need a policy to cover twins or other multiples, when their birth would put the family over limit. What do you suggest?
Discussing for the sake of discussing. smiley

One man can change the world.
Given the recent stories, treatment of Africans all over the world, issues of slavery and colonization, Africans should be enraged and be motivated to develop the continent. Nigeria should be the forerunner of this change being the most populous black nation. Change Nigeria then we can change the whole continent.Maybe I'm talking out of sentiment and pain but have been reading much about slavery, colonization apartheid an the likes and I'm very much enrages as Bleep. It's time Africa manned the duck up. And it can be done, it is doable. One man can change the world, I can change Nigeria.

The question op asked struck a cord in me and I'm happy it did.i have decided to start reading about history, politics, governance etc I will probably go into politics.

To answer the op with my current level of knowledge,i will believe governance is about the people and their want. So it begs the question what do people want?
We all want to be healthy, successful, happy, rich, secured and live a good life. So a good leader must act in a way to improve the standard of living of the people.

I have known quite a long time ago that leading is easier said than done. It is tasking and difficult especially in a rugged terrain like Nigeria's.

So if I become the president of Nigeria, o will focus on what I believe to be the key component that actually implicates people's life namely :

Health sector
Education sector
Economy.

I will blanket my discussion and not go into the nitty gritty. No matter how great ones intentions are, of there are no funds to enact them, they are as good as useless. Nigeria is probably a poor country and that's why we borrow money day in day out. I guess Jeff bezos is many time richer than our GDP.
So in short we have to create money to fund our goals. So

Diversification (agriculture, minerals, industrialization,, making nolywood as big as Hollywood. Increasing ease of doing business through tax reductions all the likes. Making Nigeria investors attractive etc?)
In summary we have to be fucking rich to fund out development. Increase revenue and blocking money wastaje at every sector.

2) education : maybe it's the school I went to bit we were never taught history, biafra war ,world wars and all the likes. Out teaching approach is basically theoretical and abstractive .
Our education system needs to be revamped to model the best in the world. We should invest heavily in our universities, reaseach, science and tech.
Today the world is going online, to reduce cost, schools can go online too.

3) health, a healthy People is a healthy nation.
Perfect health insurance scheme should be lit in place.
We need to build modern and state of art hospitals..
I believe if these sectors are taken care of, the effect will reach every other.
And lastly to achieve my aim, I will select people that share my dream and ambition as my cabinet members.

Just divide the country into three region. The country is over populated which is affecting the development of the cities and making room for those polithiefs to loot money... Dividing the Nigeria is the best.

1. First thing is to restructure the country and grant all autonomy to all states. I will let them make their laws, control their revenue and have their own police.
2. Secondly, I will have all religious institutions registered. Not to regulate their earnings but to regulate religious madness.
3. I will give service chiefs two months to rid the nation of insurgency or they are jailed for life.
4. All national assembly members appointment will be on contract basis. They earn their pay per sitting.
5. I will have the ministry of education, ministry of youth development, ministry of agriculture, ministry of science and technology, ministry of health and the ministry of defense working directly with the office of the presidency.
6. Death penalty for corrupt public office holders
7. The minimum requirement for election into public office shall be HND
8. No governor shall leave office and be elected into any other political office except appointments as ministers
9. Any political office aspirants must have lived in Nigeria for the past five years, be having his medicals in Nigeria, have ALL his/her kids schooling in Nigeria and must have an employing investment in,at least, his/her home town.
10. No one older than 65 will be allowed to run for the post of the presidency.
11. Anyone who wants to join the force must not be a religious radical and must have at least, OND with good command of English and a high IQ.
13. The immigration system will be thouroughly sanitized and upgraded.
14. Lastly, all past corrupt leaders will not be spared. I will demand accountability from the past administration's. If they can't be prosecuted, their family names enter the black book and no one from their family will taste public office again.
When I become the president, more shall follow

Yeah, multiple births would be excused. But seriously sometimes I feel upset when I see poor families with 4-5 children. I feel like flogging those couples.

Your suggestions all look very good and well articulated; but I can't help but notice that one fantastic exaggeration which makes it all look like the typical beautiful empty promises of Nigerian politician - 3000 miles of roads and 1500 miles of railways every year!! Do you have an idea how much it would cost to do just that and how exactly are you going to raise the funds for all these? Even Britain which is 100 times richer than Nigeria cant achieve that feat in 4 years.

Invest heavily on these 3 critical sectors:
•Education

Fix these and almost everything falls into place. Its one of the prerequisite to develop a country.

Revoke immunity of all politicians.Put in place same salary grade level structure for workers in both federal, state and local government level. No politician will leave Nigeria for medical treatment all will be treated in Nigeria at the same hospital with the masses.Ensure students in both federal and state University pay little for school fees.Encourage Nigerians travel abroad to acquire technical and vocational skills to be used in Nigeria.Support small businesses.encourage youth participation in politics and create forums for them to air their views most importantly encourage the fear of God nation wide.

This is only exclusive to a military government
Juliearth:
Abuja to be decongested. Ministries to be spread around the states to foster development

Capital punishment for corrupt politicians and leaders

Lawmakers to be paid the same salaries as level 12 lecturers

Central price regulation for prices of goods in the market

Our schools would be practical-based, massive sweep amongst lecturers. Half-baked lecturers must go! JAMB to be scraped off. Entry into university to be determined by post UTME...

An embargo to be placed on importation of foreign goods. Prior to that, steps are to be taken to revive commerce and industry within the country.

The textile industries to be revived and revamped

Zero interest loans for youths interested in entrepreneurship

Nysc to be scrapped off. To be replaced by a 3 month intense skills acquisition training. If any graduate does not acquire a skill, he is not awarded a degree/ HND.

No mas SARS

That thing we call a constitution to be completely scrapped off. Another to be drafted with a good representation from farmers, teachers, doctors, engineers, etc.
