This is a great move by SON!
But won't this impact on the price of the finished goods?
Of course, the final consumers (us) are on the other end paying for every extra manufacturer cost.
In summary: the government gets more revenue but citizens forgo more purchasing power.

Don't mind my diction, I'm an economist! cool

#FTC for the second time today. I also dedicate this FTC to my loving fiancé Amaka. I will marry you soon don't worry. grin
I hope she doesn't disappoint you.

Guy don't single out fake products to the Igbos alone because they're mostly into the business of importation.

Come to Mushin, Lagos island, and so many other places i will personally show you where fake products are being mass produced by other ethnic groups.

Corruption knows no ethnic or religious undertones. It's being perpetrated by all and sundry.

Any product I see SON on it, I don't buy it. They are always fake stuff. They approved fake things just to make people buy it. Have bought some products and electronics with SON certified pasted on it. They all turn out to be fake.

It's not as if they will carry out any real inspection, just pay and collect PAM and paste on your substandard products.

That will end up being the procedure, is this not Nigeria again.
Thanks bro,

Them go dey shout quality left right center... What's quality? What's the threshold of standard for a product?
Do they have the technicians to ascertain standard for all product?

Example, a blender blade can come in different modes with or without an oil seal, blade bearing; bearing balls can be made cheap with iron or more expensive with Aluminium balls. Ones made of iron rust easily.

Stainless steel come in different grades 304,302 etc.. How them want take know the grade?

This is just a tiny tiny segment of the overall market that they have to ascertain product quality.

I think they should rather rely on consumers feedback to track and trace a product deemed substandard. Test & trace the importer through retailers in the market.

The same sticker with QR code can be easily generated here and slapped on any product.

No brainer!

Nice move! But I hope this will be handled by professionals nd not people that can be bribed to get the seal on substandard products.

We need it on drugs nd mobile phones more, the Chinese have turned Nigeria to their dump ground!

Imagine Chinese making phones that are nt accepted in their country! they bring it here n u all shout, affordable nd quality!
See you!

They really aren't keen on that. This is just another tax in disguise

Will this stop fake products from circulating all over the place.

Product Authentication Mark (PAM). We are very poor in ideas as a country, despite that we use almost everything from foreign lands. We lack the knowledge of (PAM) but if we export our local products, they wouldn't allow them in their lands without being certified as good products. Indeed, there was a country......
Keypkayett

Know that our products can be sold among ourselves (Nigeria is a big market by herself and for herself) and the Africa territories added.

Think and stop this inferiority complex mindset.

if you re not comfortable with the price you can go and import you own for all they care

That is just my thinking!
Can't SON provide something like a web portal where the citizens could verify the authenticity of the seal?
