Edo 2020: PDP Says No Automatic Ticket For Obaseki by Koskio(m): 10:31pm On Jun 15, 2020
The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo, Tony Aziegbemi, says there will be no automatic ticket for Governor Godwin Obaseki in the party.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee had, on Friday, disqualified Mr Obaseki and two others from contesting the party’s primary, scheduled for June 22.

NAN also reports that Mr Obaseki has reportedly been making plans to dump APC for the opposition PDP, ahead of the party’s primaries.

In a telephone interview with NAN on Monday in Benin, Mr Aziegbemi said “I can confirm to you that the governor, his deputy and the entire APC structure in the state will be joining PDP soon.

“We have been in touch in the last few days; by tomorrow, I will be able to confirm the exact date he will be joining, along with his team.

“However, I am not yet aware that the governor has obtained our party’s membership card. I can also say that there is no automatic ticket in the offing for him at all,” he told NAN.

Similarly, a governorship aspirant of the PDP, Ken Imasuagbon, has said he is prepared for open contest, provided his opponents will be ready to subject themselves to the party’s rules and regulations.

Mr Imasuagbon said he was averse to Mr Obaseki’s planned move to join the party, but added that he would resist any attempt to hand over the party’s ticket to him, preparatory to the governorship election slated for September 19.

He said Mr Obaseki will have to join the queue, just like other aspirants, and go through the party’s primaries, billed for June 19 and June 20.

“Any attempt to hand the party’s ticket to him will be met with serious resistance. In fact, there will be no PDP primaries or whatever if the party’s leadership tries it.

“This is neither a military coup nor military rule; the governor must subject himself to the party’s primaries.

“He will need to queue with the other aspirants, if he wishes to join the race. But we will certainly resist handing him over the ticket automatically.

“Have you heard before that somebody will join a party and within three days, he will be given the ticket? Did he buy the party’s nomination form? Was he screened?” he queried.

We all know they're going to give him automatic ticket, but they're just trying to save face after shamelessly wooing him up and down to join them.....
I think its the feeling of appearing too cheap that's making them say this.

Obaseki! oba seri mo ogiri.

A nonentity is gifted the governorship that the likes of Imasuagbon, Imasuen, and Ize Iyamu have been trying tooth and nail to achieve, yet he attempted to destroy his benefactor as his gratitude.

The same benefactor whose senatorial zone votes ensured his victory.

Obaseki is finished. He is that slow snail that you pick up when you are ready to put it in a bag.

Let him go back and win his ward that he lost to Ize Iyamu in 2016. He can manage to become a Ward Councillor by his own merit.

Has he joined them? Statement of Kassim Afeghua in The Nation Newspapers._

*Read* :
A chieftain of PDP, Kassim Afegbua, a former Commissioner for Information, said: “The idea of having Governor Obaseki in PDP is already causing some ripples within the party because it will amount to political ambush.

“First, the purchase of nomination forms has closed. We have three viable aspirants running. I am supporting Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama for the primaries and hopefully he will emerge as the candidate.

“If a candidate emerges on Saturday, are you expecting the candidate to step down for someone who did not participate in the process, simply because he is a Governor? That will not only be an ambush, but an unfair reading of the situation.

“The governor is free to join the party. It is his constitutional right, but joining is one, becoming a candidate is another. He should join to support whoever emerges as the candidate, to face the APC candidate.

“Rather than be the candidate, which appears difficult at this injury hour, he should join hands with other party loyalists to ensure the APC is defeated. That would be like some kind of soft landing for him.

“Again, the Party has to understudy the report of the APC screening committee especially the obvious discrepancies in his submissions. You cannot have two certificates from one university bearing inconsistent dates with all manner of contradicting submissions.

“Beyond politics, the APC might have derived inspiration from the Bayelsa scenario, which the PDP must take notice of, so that we do not fall into another cul-de-sac. “Please tell Obaseki to drop his ambition, and join hands with whoever emerges on Saturday in PDP primary to give a good fight to the APC.

Making him a candidate will be an exercise in overkill, an ambush, and an abuse of process in terms of our party constitution, our rules and regulations.”

PDP should better get their shits together and birth another party before 2023 If not, They will keep ranting, nothing will change. but they also have a chance. assuming INEC will run a fair election.

I feel PDP can flip Edo.

If I was Obaseki, I can win this election with the least party self. Yes, I said it.
Imagine If Obaseki after clinching PDP ticket goes on to use the current pandemic ravaging the world to his favor.

Stop gathering of more than 20 persons.
Lock Edo state out of Imported Agberos.
Cancel party rallies due the covid-19.
Influence the transfer of current CP by any means.

He has the power, He can keep Benin locked.
Even Buubu can't stop him.
with this in place, He has plenty time to get things under control.

He is obviously not fit for the post with the way he is going about it right now. Desperation only means you have a hidden agenda which certainly isn't for those he is governing.

Dont mind them, APD+PDP EQUALS SAME CRIMINALS, nigerians are tired of these crooks, many PDP people are in APC, if they failed in APC they joined PDP. The main nigeria need now is electoral reforms that can give us credible election to choose right people

Pdp that he mocked and punished during his reign. How many pdp members benefited from him? He destroyed their hotels, their houses and made them go hungry.
If not that politics has no shame, Obaseki doesn't even suppose to look at pdp for anyrhing

Throwback:
Has anyone noticed that a notorious tribe of ingrates are always supporting back-stabbers, yet they always lament the most about betrayal?

Their most prominent desire in politics is betrayal and ingratitude, which they project in the political affairs of their own region and actively campaign for such in the politics of every other region.

For them, it is a must to always support the treacherous ingrate who was helped, while vilifying the benefactor as a demon who must be destroyed.

This is the same tribe that every governor they have had, have always betrayed the benefactor that got them into office.

Enugu
Chimaroke Nnamani vs Jim Nwobodo
Sullivan Chime vs Chimaroke Nnamani

Anambra
Mbadinuju vs Sir Emeka Offor
Peter Obi vs APGA / Ojukwu family
Obiano vs Peter Obi

Abia
Theodore Oji vs Orji Kalu

A tribe of backstabbers such that no clansman politician manages to get to the top before he is pulled down by his own people.

Azikiwe betrayed Biafra.
Ojukwu ran away as a historic coward and returned to support Fulani party.
Ojukwu was betrayed by his people and lost Senate in 1983 and Presidency in 2003.

Kanu betrayed his IPOB zombies by calling upon them to come and face a fatal battle with the Nigerian Army who he claimed were attacking him, meanwhile the terrorist had already fled the area with his beloved Mum and Dad. His only regret of his cowardice when he showed up after hiding for over 1yr, was that he was unable to flee with his dog who so perished. While Kanu betrayed his supporters, his dog stood his ground like a man that Kanu wasn't, showing that animals of the zoo have more courage than a life-loving, porn-filming, death-baiting affliction to his own people.

Amaka disappoint the whole world with betrayal and a continuous desire to promote treachery.

Yea,you child I noticed it,and it because Igbos' don't worship man or godfathers and are not asslickers.. You wey dey loyal see how your places still looks, yet you can't question your leaders and hold them accountable for d poverty rate in your sophisticated tribe because of your cowardice...spits on this people
