No state can afford the Discos. They want to borrow more money to buy loss generating ventures. The DISCOS should be fully privatized asap. |

bigtt76:Not just governors. The entire structure of Nigeria is headed by useless leaders.. Even FG is so useless. FG is richer than all the states combined yet, FG has nothing that is working fine. Water Electricity Education Transportation Security FG roads are so bad that states even get to do them for FG and FG is richer than states o Health Etc The entire thing is a comic relief |

SOME STATES ARE NATURALLY ENDOWED WITH CRUDE OIL ( oil & Gas ) which is one of the main products that is use in generating electricity. States such as Akwa Ibom, Rivers state, Delta state, Bayelsa state can independently generate power for their domestic consumption, industrial development and even exports to other states within Nigeria and even outside Nigeria. Such state and their government should not be denied access to their God given resources. NIGERIA SHOULD NOT BE OPERATED BASED ON THE WEAK BRINGING DOWN THE STRONG ! Some states such as Lagos state, Niger states, Benue state, Kogi states have Rivers flowing around them which is also a source of HYDRO ENERGY OR HYDRO ELECTRICITY. Such states should not be denied access to their natural God given resources by the federal government. IT IS NOT GOOD FOR NIGERIANS FROM STATES OR REGIONS THAT ARE NOT WELL ENDOWED TO PULL DOWN THE STATES THAT ARE MORE ECONOMICALLY STRONGER AND BLESSED. WE ALL CAN NOT BE EQUAL OR RICH AT THE SAME TIME. IN AMERICA, IT IS NOT ALL STATES THAT HAVE THE RESOURCES OF TEXAS, CALIFORNIA, ETC Some states are very poor but that do not make them to pull down RICH STATES LIKE CALIFORNIA, TEXAS etc. Federal government especially the northern political leadership must desist from the "habit of because I do not have this resources" I must deny those who have it. IT IS TOTALLY UNFAIR ! |

Do you just comment for commenting sake or you just get triggered by the name "Buhari". Not everything he does must be criticized. Be sure you read and understand first and not just criticize sheepishly. States that are not even able to pay their workforce, now want to take over DISCOS? How are the Primary Schools that were taken over by States fairing? Moreover, as noted in the President's response (If you cared to read it) his main reason for rejecting it is because States cannot unilaterally take over t DISCOS without the approval of all the other Stakeholders that includes The Federal Government and Private Shareholders. nairavsdollars: |

if states are allowed to take over, then forget about electricity because it would be worst than what it is now. |

laxetude:Banks Managers are even running aground their banks and you want to add power to their Burden. They feast on the funds like HUNGRY CROCODILES from salt water. BANKS AND THEIR MANAGER LACK THE TECHNICALITY TO MANAGE POWER. A good example, the Mrs Osibodu who is running BEDC that covers states like Ondo, Edo state, Delta state Electricity is comatose. Let each states manage its own power and energy sectors. THAT IS PART OF RESTRUCTURING that states are fighting for especially in the southern part and middle belt region of Nigeria. |

| Re: Buhari Rejects States’ Plan On Unilateral Takeover Of Discos by wink2015(m): 2:33pm On Jun 18, 2020 |
Tayeni:It is not all states that are not viable. It is the bad politics of Nigeria that is making states to look as if it is not viable. Some of these northern states can become centre of economic revolution through AGRICULTURAL INVESTMENT if they take their eyes from collecting federal allocation which is the money sourced from Niger delta crude oil money and Lagos state VAT MONEY. But these northern states enjoy the comfort of LAZINESS and the easy way to spend crude oil money which they do not care how the money came about. |
| Re: Buhari Rejects States’ Plan On Unilateral Takeover Of Discos by RemoveKebab: 2:33pm On Jun 18, 2020 |
Tayeni:that's why I mentioned regional it will be easier to manage and more productive if it's regional. All FG need to do is to just provide a start up budget for each region and in 2-5 years will see positive results. |

RemoveKebab:Regional won't work either. Lautech should serve as a cautionary tale. The feud between Oyo and Osun on that school has not ended. Anything short of private ownership will fail. Crony capitalism is why the Discos ended up with incompetent companies. I suggest a do-over of that sale. |

Farki:that is just the main problem the docile level of Nigerians as been all time high since independence due to ethnicity and religion. |
