Regional won't work either. Lautech should serve as a cautionary tale. The feud between Oyo and Osun on that school has not ended.

Anything short of private ownership will fail.
Crony capitalism is why the Discos ended up with incompetent companies.

I suggest a do-over of that sale.
but one should weigh in two sides of the game to know which works and the best.

We ve tried the first and it as been failure since independence so why not try a new system and see if it will work.
That is how a proactive government that has the people's interest work.

Or rather we stay in a non functioning method and theorize that a new method wont work.

There is nothing good about the proposition by state governments.

Giving DOSCOS to SGs means taking us back to era of NEPA
What of them having share holdings?

PMB can't afford Nigeria to really move forward if it will affect the lot of Hausa /Fulani. What's a big deal if states are financially capable to handle them. Rather, he will be thinking of appointing his clueless clan to be md/ceos of this discos, thereby sending us back to where we were long ago.

By all means, let's try something different. But something different that doesn't have the filthy fingers of any state or region in it. Doesn't matter what they morph into....regional, province, state or whatever.

Let the power sector be sold to competent companies maybe foreign companies(technical know-how and funding reasons) in partnership with Nigerian investors(national security concerns and funding).

nonsense move, nonsense

the state government is no better than the discos, inshort the state will perform extremely lower, state that cannot handle simple assignment.

we would never get anything right in this country, health, education, power, politics, sports,
nothing is working in this shithole.

my suggestion is this: citizens Crowdfunding
the government has failed us, let's try another formula.
kogi state for example has a million citizens, if they come together to contribute 100 each, they would build factory everyday. factory that would create jobs , generate revenue and alleviate poverty . biscuits factory, ict firms, toothpick factory, garment factory, the list is endless.

kogi citizens will no longer depend on government, but what do they do instead: they want manner to fall from above, ajaokuta to reopen and kogi becomes powerful,

nothing is working in that state, half of it's population are civil servant, police in Abuja. many graduates of kogi state University are outside the state, looking for elusive jobs.
nothing will change in this Damm country untill the citizens stand up and speak with one voice.

if we come together and crowdfund, the sky will be our limits.

it doesn't make sense to live our collective survival in the hands of a few idiot, hahaha hello is nothing without the citizens who put him there, when the citizens find a way to reduce their over reliance on the government, that is when things will change. government should not create jobs but private firms
We are not a honest set of people. I don't mean you and me but majority of Nigerians.

The people at the helms of affairs of the crowd found will steal the money and tell the others stories.

States that cannot even manage the assets under their care, intend to manage DISCOs.........mtchew
Since fg and private firms can't manage it,let states manage it for a 10year period and let's see how it will be.its part of restructuring

Why can't FG just allow states or regions to generate their own power and the rest will be shared to national grid for export.

North- abundant sun and land for clean solar power.

Southeast- massive coal for thermal plants.

Southwest- long coastal line for wind power from Atlantic ocean plus a potential location for nuclear powerplant.

South south- natural gas for gas plants.

North central - hydroelectric power.

Why do Africans like to make life hard for themselves?

IF THEY FAIL TO BRING BACK OBASEKI. THAT MAY /WILL BE THE END OF APC IN EDO

OBASEKI IS NOT AMBODE.

HE HAS A LIONS HEART.
there's away you can stylishly take power from such person, not by disqualifying him at this time.

OBASEKI WOULDN'T WANT TO GO DOWN ALONE, HE WOULD PREFER TO GO DOWN WITH APC.

APC LEADERS BETTER ACT WISELY

I weak! If States take over, trust me the South South states for example can come together and invest in power generation and distribution across the South South region!

Every region will work hard to bring stable power supply and in few years to come things will be different.

So state governors who can't manage state agencies such as ordinary waterboard are aiming to take over electricity companies.

ANSWER THIS SIMPLE QUESTION:
What parts of the country stand to benefit more from the suggested take over of DISCOs?

Think man. The FG has handled it all this while... What have you gained from it... Darkness.... NNPC, Refineries grounded etc..

States have built power plants but still have to go to the national grid before they receive power supply....

Enough of mediocrity.. Let capable states have their discos too...the others can remain with FG...

Which of the States?
Pick one State that have done what you have said....I will pick 6 that are worse off.

Mention regions and it will be better off.
