It is a simple logo for my Twitter account. It is just a capital letter R flipped and part of the head cut off. I need more on the typography than the symbol. Thanks

I believe it's a brandable name the OP used. For the design, flipping the R can tell different meaning to a brand name. it's a good design to me. Your design should show what you do or offer.

Nike logo has no shoes on it. Apple has no computer, FedEx has no delivery truck, BMW logo has no car on it,neither does Mercedes.

True talk. but you did mention names of businesses that have been existing way back, where they were little or no competition in their market area.

it doesn't really if the logo shows what the business is all about anyways but how he markets his brand is what really matters

Yeah! You are right, but as far as I can remember neither BMW, Mercedes or even Apple has changed their logo so much from the get go, a good example is Apple, they have not changed their logo, they only made it better. Same with BMW. A good logo must have some mystery behind it. It should not be literal, you have to connect to your clients emotionally rather than cognitively. You see? That logo will be associated with your brand over time. That is how it works.
