I have used this device for close to a year now and tecno has refused to upgrade my phone from android 8 to even 9 talkless of 10
Meanwhile, other phones in the same release date and price have received updates. Even my Bro samsung j7 (released in 2016 or so) just got upgraded from android 5 to 7!!
Why tecno, why?

Your phone won't die but time will come when you can no longer install or run some apps due to operating system version incompatibility. Also some features dependent of the OS version might not be available to you but if you don't mind, you can still use it.

Your phone won't die like she said but there will come a time it won't support some apps but that is in years to come by then you might have upgraded.
Your phone will die on Android 8,zero your mind on Android 9 or 10 update the only reason why the spark 3 pro got it was because it was under the beta program and it wasn't even all of there users than got it was about 2k of them got it.never by Tecno phones if you expect updates even the phantom 9 will die on Android 9,the camon 15 premier will also die on Android 10
Ps your brother could flash Android 9 or 10 custom rom to his device.

Op, na to de patient ni o. But honestly, your phone won't die and apps will continue working cos any app released us usually compatible with from Android 7 above.

i doubt very few developers work with Tecno devices so I doubt him finding a compatable custom rom for his device,the only one I have seen was the spark 2 I think to Android 9 or 10.

Currently using tecno spark 2 pro with Android 8.1, been receiving updates but not been upgraded to version 9.. Don't know why tecno behaves like these on their devices

U r far better with ur stock firmware than any nonsense update that will endanger ur device. Top of it it's tecno
