I dont want to get my hopes up, I will keenly await the completion of the projects.

U and I know Obiano has run out of time to complete that airport.

Even if the entire airport will not be completed under Obiano, he could set up a concrete plan for the airport and airport city to be completed according to the original vision.

Sam Mbakwe started Owerri airport. He knew very well that he could never complete it. But he developed a clear plan in phases to enable the succeeding administrations complete it without sacrificing their own programs.

Another important project is the airport city project. Now we know that waiting for the airport to be completed before the airport city is planned and developed will simply result in the rise of concrete of slums in that area by the time the airport is completed.

Therefore, nothing stops the state government NOW to grade the streets/roads in the airport city area, to properly mark out the plots and allow private sector to develop the place now as the airport itself is being built. The reason why most Nigerian cities look like slums, except Abuja and perhaps in the future Abakaliki, is that they are NEVER planned before the buildings go up.

Now is the opportunity to plan the airport city and demarcate the future roads & streets by simply grading (NOT TAR) the roads. So that the plots are well aligned in a straight line and the roads are well interconnected with many roundabouts like modern airport cities, before people build up the area the way villages are developed haphazardly.

The village one, we discussed and people were saying we should leave it like that.

Development is not leave it like that matter.

The villages need to be planned.

At some point, one-story building will be demolished for high rise luxury apartment blocks.

We need better management of our limited land resources.

All those nonsense houses people are building all over the place, will be raised higher as our technological state develops.

Everybody should have a right to shelter.

Low density and high density neighborhoods serve different cadres of people who are important for a good society to function properly. If all wealthy Anambra people have to live in Enugu or Asaba because we don't have Independence layout style areas in Awka and Onitsha, then it's equally a tragedy. I totally agree that more new estates with 4 - 5 storey buildings need to be opened. More importantly around Onitsha and Nnewi. If you followed the drone overview of Oba, you will find that we have a sizeable amount of such estates. We need to have one or two new layouts in Awka for high density areas.

But, all new estates should not be 4 - 5 storey hoods. There has to be a good balance in everything to cater for different cadres of important people in the society.

I am talking about luxury apartment blocks.

Imagine having entire villages living here.

A new style of living.

Imagine we build our villages like this, we will have more farmland and also, build library, schools and research centre nearby for our people to plan their development locally.

Before the village grows, they build another one and plan their population, each building will be an upgrade of the previous, technologically.

Oga, without sounding immodest, Part of the reason why people often think those that went abroad cannot reason objectively is because of people like you.

You truly want that type of housing in Nigeria? Just because you saw in in China, USA or Germany, then suddenly Anambra state must and can build those types of houses for it's villagers?
Have you asked yourself why even South Africa that is light years ahead of Nigeria in technology and power generation does not have those types of mass housing for their people?

When some of you suggest technically impossible things with total disregard for our GDP, technology and almost ZERO prospect of finding funding even if it's from World bank or UN HABITAT for humanity. I feel like extending the same ironical suggestion by asking you why your father simply can't set up a cement factory or refinery like Dangote did. Afterall, he just a Nigerian like you and your father. That statement clearly shows i have only considered you and Dangote's similarity of being "Nigerians" and perhaps being male with male Instruments. I have totally refused to consider the circumstance and reality that makes you Mr Okafor and the othe man Mr Dangote.

Biko, you people should stop embarrassing us by posting crap. You can very well post and aircraft carrier and ask why we can't just build it. We don't like to dare, that is why we can't make an aircraft carrier. When you suggest senseless solution that is not applicable, it is better to suggest nothing.

Let me help you with some of the design Obiano must build in Awka in the next 1-2 years. Afterall, we are extremely rich and just one of these building can contain all the citizens of Awka in it and save a lot of land for agriculture.

u know, Umahi is stylishly out to out perform Obiano, in terms of delivering world class projects.

Everything, i have seen out of Ebonyi so far are world class.

Umahi will outperform anyone who doesnt do things properly. Obiano may have vision but his execution is poor because he relies on friends and kinsmen instead of having projects delivered professionally. For example, take the ICC project in Awka. Had that project gone through a standard project process you would have:

1) Feasibility Study
2) Environmental Assessment
3) Funding Plan
4) Tendering Process
5) Project Award and Delivery

This would take 5 years max. But when a project is designed and awarded from Government House, Awka you get the chaos and confusion where a poor site is selected (the swamp at Agu-Awka) which raises costs and time for delivery because it needs to be sandfilled and increases use of energy since in order to prevent mold and decay will require 24/7 cooling and dehumidifaction, then they select an engineer who does not know how to implement the design and you get more delays and raises costs.

Practically every project executed by Obiano has exhibited poor thought and delivery. The flyovers in Awka which cost 13 billion which would have been enough to complete the Enugu-Onitsha expressway from Amawbia to Umunya, the focus on expensive bridges
to connect thinly populated villages while roads within cities are inadequate and are heavily congested. Contrast Obiano with Obi who even with his third-rate roads at least reconstructed old Enugu-Onitsha road and built the expressway from head bridge to Umunya along with a flyover at New Parts Tarzan.

Umahi on the other hand knows what an engineering process is like because he is an engineer who ran his own company in Port Harcourt. He can deliver projects without cost and time overruns because he has done it before. Now not every governor has to be an engineer, but a leader of men. You cannot be hiring your kinsmen for multi-billion naira projects unless you want to be disgraced.

If you think Ebonyi Conference Center is something special what about Gombe International Conference Center built by Dankwambo without much fanfare for 4 billion.

Trash as usual. Always posing as if knows anything whereas he is just a useless hopeless frustrated empty vagabond. Your inputs here are useless and it's not needed. Use the same knowledge and fix your miserable life.

How can a hopeless slowpoke think he knows anything to even advise a whole state government. Go to your village to contest councillor first before coming here with your stupid idea. Obiano is on a class of it's own and can never be on a level of a governor whose 80% of its population are poor. Shoe and shirt get size.

Nnwanne, nothing is impossible and i did take into consideration our technological state.

We need to state training our people to be able to build such structures.

Japan dont have oil but they have magnificient structures.

People are our asset and right to shelter should be universal.

The problem we have is called big man syndrome, where some people think they have a right to house and others dont.

I have a mansion in the village but already thinking of bigger structure to accommodate a growing family.

Charity they say begins at home.

Anambra people prefer living outside their state. It has nothing to do with city planning or layout. Right from pre independence times, Igbos especially those from present day Anambra who were the first to make contact with the white missionaries and British merchants navigating the River Niger and trading with Igbos in Onitsha, have sought to have a different environment and experience new cultures hence the mass migration to other parts of the country especially the north. Wealthy Anambra people like Chukwuemeka Ojukwu and Nnamdi Azikiwe were born and lived in the north as were many others. Even if you turn Anambra into London or Singapore, Anambra people will continue to prefer living outside the state. It is in our DNA.
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by BeijinDossier: 8:16am On Jun 22, 2020
Stop spewing nonsense on this thread. Areas like 3-3, GRA 1 & 2, Akpaka forest, Nkwelle are far better than independence Layout. Areas in Awka that's also better than independence Layout are Ngozika 1 & 2, also Udoka estates is a large neighbourhood with low density high end real estate. Are we gonna mention the upcoming topmost precinct in SE- Awka Millennium City? Anambra people are great explorers, that's why whenever you see 3 igbos in diaspora(US, Europe, China) 2 must be Anambrans. Asaba doesn't also have better neighbourhoods like the ones I mentioned up there in Anambra.

Anambra still have the highest population in SE, meaning that's the top destination in the region.
