Tower structures are ideal for offices but can also double as apartment blocks.

This, my people, is where we are heading.

Aniigbo require smart land management especially rural areas.

We will keep finding ourselves having this conversation from time to time.

It is a conversation that we must have and be open-minded enough to discuss as matured men.

I apologise for the aboki or afonja homosexual that derailed the thread and use spam bolt to ban my moniker for the day.

Its gonna take a thousand years for us to get here with Obiano involved. Our leaders are wicked. Most of the neighborhood we post here are worse than ghettos in the U. S

I am so glad to see that Obiano is taking steps to make these caves accessible and train tour guides to tell something interesting about them. There is a very funny misconception of Nigerians about what tourism is.

Perhaps due to the deceit of what the British led us to believe tourism in Africa should be, based on their racist inclination of Africa as the strange, dark continent with little fun in it. An average Nigerian thinks tourism is the same as Archeology and Entomology. Go and check definitions of this and you will understand that tourism has nothing to do with these subjects per se. Unless you develop the archeological site and package the story of the area in a way that it becomes attractive to people who are not archeologists.

Nigerians will typically find a hole in the ground somewhere and simply declare it a "tourist" attraction. The problem isn't really calling it a tourist attraction, it is the sad fact that they will leave it in its primitive inaccessible form and actually expect normal people who are not interested in archeology and entomolgy to board a flight from their countries and come to visit the hole in the ground!

Anything of any touristic value must be developed in a way that people can comfortable access the facility and move through it without any danger of bodily injury. While learning an important historic knowledge in the process. That is what makes a site to have touristic value. Else, in it's raw natural state without steps and trained tour guides, it has no touristic attraction for most decent people.

Bottom-line, we need to educate our people that archeological sites does not simply equate to a "tourist attraction". Unless they are developed and packaged in a way that makes it attractive for people to visit and have fun while being there. Infact, we are better off developing our "Iwa ji" festival, mmawu festival and other traditional festivals as tourist attractions than simply pointing to caves and wondering why nobody will leave Europe or America to come and visit a desolate cave in Africa. Unless an important historic story is attached to the cave and use of trained tour guides to accurately tell the story, and the place is very easily accessible to drive there, and to walk through the cave without bodily harm to themselves or their children.

igboland has the most successful tourism industry in the world.

'December time' is tourism. That being said, December Time and tourism elsewhere makes minimal impact on people's lives.
We have to stop seeing our culture and geography as 'tourist attraction'.

The community that has the waterfall. If I google it's name all I will see is dead bodies and piles of trash. Geography like this is therapuetic. Locals have to learn how to go there, unwind and appreciate nature or else we will continue to unload our stress on each other. We focus so much on what's stressful that we don't realize we live in the biblical description of paradise. But our focus is on car accidents, piles of trash, dead bodies, etc.

Culture is what your ancestors devised for their survival and prosperity. It is more than an attraction. Instead it is best used as a means of learning and modeling society/behavior. Tourism can at best provide jobs for guides, and hotel staff. After that, it's not really an industry that I see as fruitful or well understood in Africa.

For the west, the value of Ancient Rome isn't tourism. Ancient Rome is a play to look at to learn and model society. it's a place to look at for creativity, innovation, government, and learning lessons.

But come to Igboland, where our history provides all of these things, and at best we want everything to be 'tourist attraction'. The worlds oldest evidence of iron smelting is in Enugu. But instead of looking at site to see how we can build an iron industry (the backbone of industry), we put ignorant little signs up about 'ministry of tourism site' and think the value is someone walking past it and taking a picture.

You wrote bunch of stuff that isnt clear enough to see how it applies to the development of Anambra. I wish you can elaborate.

As per tourism, I dont think tourism in Anambra at the moment is lucrative because the masses really dont care about the environment. Well, they dont have any reason to care. Also, the existence of one cave in a remote village is not enough reason for me to visit....visit to do what exactly ? To attract tourist the whole cave must be developed with decent hotel in the area amongst other attractions that will pull people to the place. The cave is not enough to attract the number of people that will raise our igr. Build other activities around the cave and use it stream to develop the gaddem place....be creative for once. Why must oyibo teach these rretarded leaders anything.

For the record, I don't share your sentiment about Obiano. He may not be excellent, but he has performed well above average. I rate him higher than Peter Obi in several sectors; security, civil service welfare, infrastructure, human capital development and politics. Others are arguable. Then as regards his successor, I am not sure that Ike Obosi is interested in the election. APGA will likely present Soludo and his popularity, incumbency and APGA platform will almost certainly guarantee him victory.

Comparing Obi and Obiano is quite disingenuous because they met Anambra at different levels of chaos. Obi emerged during when Anambra was a total sshit. He singlehandedly pulled out of of the mess and slapped us with 100 billion worth of investment we could use to literally transform the state. When people compare them it saddens me because it takes away some vital points of note and degenerate into bickerings. Obi , though, from Anambra central was the one who rescued Anambra north from the shackles of poverty..nuff said

As for the forthcoming governorship election; this contest is very open and Obiano doesnt have an upper hand even as an incumbent to install Soludo. With Anambra big guns like Obi , Adaeze Odua who defeated Obiano's candidate in the North, Chidoka ,Iyom Ekwinife who defeated Victor Umeh and many others this contest will be very tough for Akpokuedike's candidate to win.

Well, the money was invested instalmentally in bonds and took some years for the investment to rise to this amount. Thats a wise man and if God willing I get to lead my fatherland will jail any iidiot that insult Peter Obi! Obi is the father of modern Anambra. With that credit we can borrow more to complete projects that can transform the state and not forgetting to save for the future generations like Obi did.

Even if the entire airport will not be completed under Obiano, he could set up a concrete plan for the airport and airport city to be completed according to the original vision.

Sam Mbakwe started Owerri airport. He knew very well that he could never complete it. But he developed a clear plan in phases to enable the succeeding administrations complete it without sacrificing their own programs.

[b]Another important project is the airport city project. Now we know that waiting for the airport to be completed before the airport city is planned and developed will simply result in the rise of concrete of slums in that area by the time the airport is completed.

Therefore, nothing stops the state government NOW to grade the streets/roads in the airport city area, to properly mark out the plots and allow private sector to develop the place now as the airport itself is being built. The reason why most Nigerian cities look like slums, except Abuja and perhaps in the future Abakaliki, is that they are NEVER planned before the buildings go up.

Now is the opportunity to plan the airport city and demarcate the future roads & streets by simply grading (NOT TAR) the roads. So that the plots are well aligned in a straight line and the roads are well interconnected with many roundabouts like modern airport cities, before people build up the area the way villages are developed haphazardly.

Gbam! A drive through Awada, the most populous housing estate in Nigeria clearly illustrates your point about purpose planning an area before development of buildings.

The video precisely captured the reason why we should plan housing layouts in advance! If this place had wider roads and better planning, it would be the most breath-taking location in Nigeria. However, lack of planning makes an otherwise beautiful estate with modern buildings to appear unsightly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3Rtdr9CVIo&t=315s

The issue of portable water for the citizens raised in the video must be addressed by the government! It is criminal negligence that citizens are left without water supply and the state government isn't even doing anything to address it. Even if the state does not have money, it can use the apparatus of government to set up organizations to provide water to tenants! Every medium town in America has its water supply. Usually from a deep borehole pumped into an overhead tank, from where it flows by gravity to every house in the town. We need a policy to make this idea part of building estates in Anambra state.

Can the State government make a law mandatorily setting up landlords association for every housing estate/Layout?
These landlords association must charge extra 500 naira per flat/month and the money used to build and maintain the housing estate's mini-water works?
This law should make it mandatory that every mass housing estate must have a mini-water works built and managed by the landlords association.

WORK ADVANCES AT THE NNEWI WATER SCHEME PROJECT.
..... As Hon Melie Onyejepu assures Anambra Residents of Portable Water Soon.
A visit to the Anambra State water cooperation Nnewi unit, will convince even the doubting Thomases that the Gov Willie Obiano's led State Government is truly matching their words with visible actions with the construction of new model urban water project that is aimed at changing the believe that potable water supply is no longer possible.
The speed and quality of works at the water board Nnewi unit by the construction company handling the project, ATLANTIC DRILLING FLUIDS SERVICES LTD, is not only encouraging but it shows that the State Government really meant business.
Those that visited the site in April 2020, won't be able to believe their eyes with the rate of infrastructures that are in place now at the same Site. The site engineer of the construction firm wasn't even happy with their own pace of works, according to him, the constant rain have forced them to slow down their pace. He said, that since the State Government has fully mobilized them, that they have no reason whatsoever to delay the project, if not for the rain.
He added that they have refurbished the old overhead tank, and that it's ready for use now. He also said that they have put in place two surface tanks and are almost done with the drilling and fixing of the borehole.
Recall that the Anambra State Government commensed state-wide construction of new model urban water projects to phase out individual borehole system that littered all over the State.
The special Adviser to Gov Willie Obiano on Budget, Efficiency/AIRS, Hon Melie Onyejepu who was recently appointed the General Manager of Anambra State Bureau of Public Procurement Board, had said during a visit to the Site in April,2020, that the project which was divided into two phases, had already started in Nnewi at its abandoned water project located at old Nnewi Onitsha road Amuko.
According to Onyejepu, the pilot scheme which was the first phase, would gulp $1million and would on completion distribute potable water within the area the project was sited and would later go round the whole Nnewi community when the second phase was completed.
He said that the project was divided into engineering, house enumeration, metering and billing and appealed to Nnewi residents to cooperate with the enumerators to make their job easy.
He noted that the Anambra State Government's collaboration with the foreign donors was designed that the State would pay a counterpart funding of between N50 million and N100 million. He noted that the project was being executed with quality assurance.
It's very important to note that all the Previous Governments in the State did not invest in water and people began to sink boreholes here and there, forgetting that the gains of public water supply far outweighed the individual borehole projects, because apart from the high cost in maintaining the private water boreholes, ecological problems it generated posed a threat to the residents.
Provision of water is a major democracy dividend and Anambra State Government under Gov Willie Obiano is working on various water projects to ensure provision of potable water.
His Excellence Governor Willie Obiano has been working with donor agencies like World Bank and ADB for new urban water model.
The construction firm lauded Hon Melie Onyejepu for making sure that the host Community is giving them all the necessary support, in terms of security and other logistics that has been serving as a motivating factor to their staffs, which in the other hand has also enabled them to put in their best.
Akpokuedike Global, OBRIGADO.
