What is your book about?
What is The Reunion about?

My story is about three young's guys. One was married and facing the challenges of being married in a country like ours, while the other two were not so keen on falling in love or even getting married.

The Reunion is about three sisters who were separated at a very young age. It basically talks about them reuniting and also getting to meet their mum whom they all thought was dead.

Not my first time reading this masterclass tho, but I always find it fascinating and I revisit it every day.

Ratings 9/10

I read the book in 2015.
For three days I would get on a train from one end of London to the other, soaking in the book, absorbing it, sometimes crying too (I realised I had tears on my face one day someone came up to my seat to sit with me).
It (and it’s bibliography) opened my eyes the more.
The book speaks to the soul sha.

You rate a book by the way it ends? undecided

There's no right way to end a story. The story ends when the writer has finished passing his message. It can even end when the main character is sleeping.

Arrow Of God was very well written and the plot well crafted and concluded. A proud priest who was humiliated by his deity for trying to raise himself above his people.

His dig at Achebe was a mischievous one.
I ignored him.
@OP?
I like this thread. Will be freer from tomorrow to savour it more.

Politics and a pinch of strong love

or should i say, love marred in politics.

The complete name is Temporal Power: A Study in Supremacy by Marie Corelli

It summed the totality of my political views till date

Finished A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry

Whenever I finish such great book as this, I am a little sad that it is over but I was glad it came to an end despite it being a masterpiece in every sense of the word. The fate of these characters went under my skin. You will not only be a witness to the story but become a part of it. The plot is full of suspense, so much so that you can't wait to read on. If you want to learn about the crimes on humanity performed by the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and how her decisions destroyed the lives of many but also about how propaganda works and what people are capable of in their quest to survive, read it. It should be awarded with any Prize for Literature there is and the author should by now be a millionaire. I love this book.

I am currently reading Either The Hunt for Red October, The Art of War or The Dhammapada. I usually don’t like such serious books, but this one really hooked me. It’s very cool that I found her. In one of joelbooks.com’s daily articles, I accidentally saw this book. If someone likes it, then there are many more similar books. Also, you can find there exactly those genres of books that you will like for you! I am sure that there you will find your future favorite book, good luck!

If you love crime-thrillers, you can't do better than James Hadley Chase. His books have a way of taking you into the world of his characters. It gets addictive.

Having read practically all his books, I'd rate 10/10.

Cheers.

Currently reading The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan.

I hoped to learn more about Chinese culture but have learned nothing new so far. The way the chapters are arranged does not help to get to know the women the book is about on a deeper level but maybe this was intentional since the mothers and daughters interact in a sort of aloof, cold and distant manner too. Let's see if I have the patience to read till the very end.

Educated by Tara Westover

A coming-of-age-story which is a memoir written by a young lady who was raised in a Mormon family and as the title implies underwent a change with the opportunities that education opened for her. A book about religious bigotry and how it affects a family in different ways. It is full of suspense and action and the characters are portrayed in all their complexity. The family drama that unfolds is heart-breaking for Tara Westover describes the characters and their relations with profound empathy. The story is set in Idaho and shows life in the United States as you have probably not thought could be possible. A must read.

10/10

Thats a high mark na, i try. Wonderful plot, but most indian books always make the lower castes worse off at the end.A very big turn off. The author did not also portray the indira ghandi's regime too well, most of the things he said were true, but indira made india the mordern power she is now. You see japanese authors, them dey tell you truth as e be, so my preference.
