Nigeria is a country structured to fail by default with so many contradictions and inconsistencies. Abuja is a case study of why Nigeria's search for unity and cohesion will continue to be elusive. As the federal capital of Nigeria Abuja should normally exhibit and proclaim Nigeria's diversity in all its ramification. This is to reinforce the oneness and togetherness of all the ethnic nationalities that constitute Nigeria. Unfortunately however Abuja is turning out to be an icon of division and ethnic supremacy.

Since the return of democracy to the country, the office of the minister of the federal capital territory has been permanently zoned to a section of the country. Arewa is the home of those destined to be the minister of Abuja and all seems to be well. Should it surprise anyone that Nigeria is not working at all? Why is it that other sections of the country have been left out in occupying the office of minister of Abuja?

While all the indices of our disunity and crises are glaring and staring us in the face, Nigerians keep playing the ostrich. What does it take all us to know that the occupiers of the office of the minister of Abuja should reflect the diversity of Nigeria? How long are we to continue to deceive ourselves that the unitary system of government is not working for us?

If by location Abuja is deemed to be an Arewa territory, and consequently the office of the minister should be zoned to indigenes from that zone, it automatically means it has lost its status as the federal capital territory. Nigeria Ports Authority is headed by citizens of Nigeria outside coastal region while Abuja minister cannot be from outside Arewa. Yet Nigeria is seeking unity and national integration.

Nigerians should sit down and discuss all the anomalies with this country before chaos set in. A country cannot exist on foundation of deceit and lies and pretend to be doing well. Now is the time to ask ourselves serious question and find the way forward.

We Southerners only complain when things don't favour us.

How are all those positions benefiting ordinary Northerners?

The position of your group on the totem pole determines your position. Nobody should determine our limits in our father's land. It is an abomination. God forbid bad thing. I reject it.

How many NDDC minister is from north or south west? Abuja is a place occupied by people before it became Federal capital territory, a specially recognition that does not eliminate it's original existence before then. Anyone that will be minister of abuja must have indept knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Abuja not just as a federal capital(which is limited to paper works) but as a geographical area(which requires in addition to paper works, having knowledge of and able to interact with the people at the grassroot)
Nigeria may get to that point in time to come, where a man from south could possibly be minister but that will be when the population at the grassroot has been so diluted that you can find people from any region of the country in every part of Abuja AND at even distribution. That is my opinion and I stand to be corrected.

However a Kano indigene can head Nigeria Ports Authority. Kindly tell me one coastal town in Kano that makes a Kano indigene to be fit to head Nigeria Ports Authority.

I think what is happening is that Abuja is a Northern State and should only be headed by Northerners not withstanding the fact that it is the FCT of Nigeria,I think the regionalization comes first before anything to them
To them it's just like saying an Igbo man should head Lagos

We had southern presidents that could have made the changes.. Didn't we?

One word: NEPOTISM.
It is better to be the FCT minister than to be a Governor of any state in Nigeria. If you know, you know.

Historically the main center of Nigeria's power has been given to the North by the Foreigners,I think before the Jihad,so really no other clime matter's.
The Northerners are really the ones ruling Nigeria, that's why Bubu still doesn't have a strong rival.
If you watch it,every Southerner or Western leaders are restricted to their own space and are actually comfortable with not finding a trouble they know they might not win.
A Yoruba man would rather stay in his own place and be a strong hold there than try to do that elsewhere because there's an underlying war that was won a long time ago and power given to the North
Nigeria is running a Totalitarian Government by the North, I think we'll keep going in cycles

True
See ehn the fact that Abuja is the FCT gives them this mind of "we rule Nigeria" so they don't even have to fight to rule the South or the West because they're already in it,all ruling the entity itself,so they don't need to regionalise, they're already global
When the South and the West would realise this there will be nothing they can do really
