An Igbo group, the South East Response Team (SORET) has protested the exclusion of the zone in the federal government of Nigeria’s loan plan, saying that it may be forced to take every necessary legal actions to ensure the loan is not accessed if the South East remained excluded from the zones to benefit the loan scheme.

Recall that the federal government, few months ago, applied for loan in the tune of $22.7B for projects cut across all the geopolitical zones excluding the South East. Available details indicate that Southwest will get $200,000,000.00 while south-South, excluding Edo State, will get $4,270,000,000.00. North West will get $6,372,000,000.00, Northeast will get $300,000,000.00 while North Central will get $6,531,000,000 while $5,853,900,000.00 is reserved for general expenses.

But in a press conference held in Enugu, the national coordinator of the group,Comrade Aku Obidimma pointed out that the South East has always been faced with marginalization, the height of it all being the exclusion of the zone in a loan bid designed to be enjoyed by all the geopolitical zones in the country.

According to him: “One can clearly see today that there can be no other time to be compared to what we have today where the people of the South East have been almost excluded and sidelined in the leadership of the country vis a vis the appointments made by the president, economic and infrastructural development as is manifest in the reluctance of the government in setting up the proposed South East Development Commission and other related matter”

On the group’s readiness to seek legal redress to press home their demands, he continued”we wish to once more reiterate our call on President Mohammed Buhari, the parliament and the international creditors to immediately put a hold to this transaction. Let to the project spread for this loan to be reviewed to significantly capture the South East zone. Unless this is done, SOREST will be bound to take every necessary legal step towards ensuring that the loan is not accessed” he concluded.

They need our prayers. Sometimes, how my Igbo brothers behave is heartbreaking.
I'm certain that if it were to be North or West that was excluded from the borrowing plan, protest would be simultaneously ongoing in their various States.

Unfortunately, our miscreant inconsequential 5% potopoto republic bloooders are busy celebrating Giadom & creating several tops with thousands like just to cry on top of Tinubu matter bcs Tinubu has positioned SW in the development plan of the Buhari administration while their Red Mud Soil Erosion Republic politicians like Giadom can't fight for any tangible projects for their marginalized republic in the $22.6 billions loan from China

Pls create more topics in the name of Tinubu and cry as much as possible bcs its not easy to be marginalized and worst part is that the fresh $22.6 billion loan is only for the North and SW

Nyamuri:
I asked a simple question, is the bridge not in SE?

Considering your choice of moniker, no sensible Igbo would see the need to get into a argument with a obvious bigot whose mind is made up on the issue abi-initio! But i'll humour you just this once!

The billions of dollars worth of projects from the loan going to the Fulani north-west (that all of us will have to pay back), are they being shared with any other region?

This 2nd Niger bridge is your 'get out of jail' card that you're always quick to refer to when there's questions of what the evil Buhari/APC gov't is doing in the south-east. It's used by you Igbo hating bigots to try and advance your argument that Buhari is 'fair' to Igbos and hence Ndigbo should be satisfied with his gov't! A bridge costing less than $500 million dollars and whose work was stopped when Buhari became president in 2015, only to be restarted again few months to the 2019 elections so you can have something to point to that Buhari/APC are doing something in the south-east! A bridge whose federal gov't counterpart funding has already been paid (if not in full then partly); which Julius-Berger is part financing; which Buhari says part of the Abacha loot is going towards its construction; and which will be tolled when opened for use. All this money is already gone or going into it yet you want Ndigbo to be satisfied that a $22 billion loan has been taken and we're told Ndigbo share in this is -yet again- for the 2nd Niger bridge, while more than $6 billion is set aside for projects in Buharis' north-west! It's clear to everyone that you lot are greedy scammers and believe you can take Ndigbo for a ride!

Well, the Igbos have said they will keep voting in Northerners to frustrate any Presidential ambition of the Yorubas.

Buhari is a Northerner.

Congratulations.

CLOWNS. Stop begging your enemy for food. Have some shame. Is there any Court that can force the Executive Government to build infrastructure in a particular region? Such a Court will have to source for money for the infrastructure.

Politics is investment, you invest your votes and reap infrastructure and appointment. The North and South invested their votes, they are now reaping infrastructure and appointment. Igbos invested their votes in Goatluck Jonathan and they reap several infrastructures including the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Niger Bridges which Goatluck constructed, commissioned and opened for use. The South-West invested in Major General Muhammadu Buhari and we are reaping the following

1. Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
2. Apapa-Oshodi-Iyana_Oworo Expressway
3. Lagos-Abeokuta Ibadan Railway
4. Oyo-Ogbomoso Expressway e.t.c.
