They said there will be salary increment after the six months probation. But I doubt that because in the job advert, they stated the salary range is 40-50k. We were upto 10 people that went for the interview, they choose me because I have 5 years experience and have attended some training with NAFDAC , so I insist they should raise the salary because I am the first person that will be working as a microbiologist in their firm. I am their to start everything from beginning, both working in Lab, developing all the documents needed by NAFDAC, etc. I think what they want to do is after I must have developed those documents, and placed SOPs on how each equipment is being used they will employ new person after six months to pay lesser salary and give me one excuse why they can't increase my salary.
Graduate 40k , 50k for what? I don't know why some of you are running away from teaching. Some schools pay more and if you're able to do private practice along with it, you could be earning as much as your salary.

Apart from the fact that, adding a role you did not apply nor have competence for is Unprofessional , I also do not like the tone/ content of the letter.

However, having worked in multinationals almost all my working life, I have tried TWICE to run private business extending SAME human conditions to the employees i employed . They two businesses failed partly because the employees saw it an an opportunity to EXPLOIT me.

So when i see success Nigerian/Lebanese /Indian /Korean businesses operating in Nigeria, barking down or maltreating their employees, i wonder if that is the only way to run successful Nigerian business .

The truth is that , you will not enjoy this job, however, if there are no alternatives take it with minimal expectation

If you know how difficult it is these days to get a job with the current state of the country you'd manage that job.

Lots of companies are sacking, downsizing their staffs currently.
Those shouting better reject the job offer can they offer to get you another job?
This is a married woman we are talking about o. Forget this emotional blackmail of no job. If you know your onions you will be rejecting lousy job offers.

Yeah I said it.

Very true.

I don't even like opposite sex PAs. undecided

How can they tell a Microbiologist to double as a PA?

Not even EA?

Nope.

After a bad day, everyone eventually heads home.

That job offer is bad news.

You will be both head microbiologist as well as secretary and receptionist at the price of one.

After your six months probation there won't be any salary increment because it's not contained in the letter.

6 months probation period instead of 3 months.

You will be required to work overtime ; Saturdays, sundays without pay.

No mention of working hours , so you can be asked to work till 9 pm sometimes.

You have resisted movement why can't you come to work daily and close at 5pm ?

2 months notice before you drop their miserable job or you forfeit your 2 months salary is pure wickedness and they are likely to own you 3 months salary then pay you just 1 month just make sure they eat your 2 months salary when you get tired and decides to leave.

As a married woman that is yet to start a family, it will create distance between you and hubby. Your husband will be living like bachelor.

No time for side hustles.

They are slave masters, please run because being their won't give you time to ser better openings.

I believe you don't live close by around ojo or something if you did you might be able to go and come daily.

Its well sis, hopefully they will respond well to your mail and modify it to microbiologist only.
Yeah. Me hopes too but asking them to leave off Wednesday to me looks as if she's asking for too much.

Note, I applied for the post of microbiologist, and they plead with me to help them in doing little secretary work like receiving and sending email that they will get a new secretary within a short time. Now they have indicated in the offer letter that and taking two position just for 60k. Meanwhile this job required that I have to live in the factory quarters to go home on Friday evening. I am a married woman though still expecting to have children, I plead with them to give me one day off on Wednesdays they disagree. I want to turn down this offer, what is your candid advise?
With this threat they call an offer letter, and an outright denial from seeing your husband all for 60k?..pls think about it and consult your husband too.

In fact this is the time to always be with your husband since you guys are still expectant.

This is one mentality i hate, the half bread is better than none mentality of most Nigerians and I blame your govt.
FYI, even with the current state of the nation, some people are getting better job offers even as I type. The lady in question knows her job well too.
You want her to take up a job of 60k with all this threats and likely insults and maybe at the end lose her marriage,

Lol.

All I can deduce from this letter is that they will be owing you two months salary everytime, so you can forfeit the money if you don't give two months notice. They'll deliberately be paying you late, like after one or two months. Think about it.
