The same Ojukwu waste the lives of millions of ibos for selfish purpose and ran away.

He later came back and contested for a top political office in a country he once spent fortunes to desintegrate.

...and you are here blaming yorubas for your misfortune.

For your information, the only slave to the north as of now are the igbos.
I don't need to explain further
unless you are a northerner you won't say this. Ojukwu had the best intentions than any other Nigerian politician till date. He knew that our needs would not be met with an Hausa Fulani dominated country and he did his best to liberate the south. After betraying Igbos, Awolowo was denied president and accused of coup. Abiola was denied president and accused of coup. Obasanjo was accused of coup. Tinubu is currently being downsized. Lagos is a giant mess. Yorubas getting into thuggery and fraud in droves. Tell me how all these is the best outcome for Yorubas? So yorubas prefer Nigeria like this than to have their own country? Why

Crofton:
Some of Ojukwu's conditions seek direct interference with the "Western Nigeria" political sovereignty.

It's still much better and less threatening than the Hausa-fulani domination though .

The North and South are almost equally populated, but by a significant proportion the South has an upper hand in education, infrastructure and economy.

Therefore I see no reason for Hausa-fulani domination but disunity .

If we unite temporarily, we can force a disintegration after which we go our separate ways as three sovereign neighbouring countries .

The "Divide and Rule" tactics is definitely one of the most efficient method of maintaining power .

You have said it all...

Hausa/Fulani can not dominate the south, what is dominating the south presently is disunity.

Ojukwu wasn’t fighting for yoruba liberation. He was seeking a situation where Nigeria will be at war on three different fronts. This will have greatly improved his chances of being the victor. You don’t claim to liberate people who haven’t complained to you to be under any slavery. He was trying to conquer by decoy. Reading that letter (in the assumption it’s real), he wrote about appointing Banjo governor, who gave him that right? That gives an idea of his true intentions.

He gave a secret directive to the Biafran army rank and file not to take command from any non core Igbo commander in any conquered state as evidently read from accounts of what happened after the midwest was conquered.

You claim to liberate people but your soldiers looted all the financial institutions (CBN Benin at the time in focus), plunder and pilliage people’s businesses, rape the women and generally do what conquering soldiers do all over the world. This is from the account of Col (later Gen) David Ejoor, the serving military governor at the time.

He then disrupted and forcefully removed the administration of Ejoor (who had to escape the government House on a bicycle according to him), appointed or installed as some will say, Col Okonkwo (a core Igbo military doctor) governor of midwestern state when you had serving officers from midwestern tribes in that battalion. Hell, the Col Okonkwo even had to be given emergency promotion from Major to Colonel bypassing other officers superior to him.

All these happened in a midwestern state that had declared itself neutral in the war and granted passage without resistance to the biafran forces. That’s why there was non stop resistance (to the Biafran colored administration) from different segments of the general population. Ojukwu/Enugu tried to be too clever by half by renaming the midwestern state “Republic of Benin”. A republic that has to take directives from ‘Enugu’ is nothing but pretence and deception. It can be likened to the “Hand of Esau and voice of Jacob” theory which is rightfully a strategy that can be deployed in war. The general populace saw through the veil and responded with sustained civil disobedience.

Seeing all these, Banjo could not have handed over the west to him. Even members of his council like Ifeajuna, Alale and co saw through this and pointed it out to him that’s why they were set up, court marshaled for treason and executed.

I have read over 10 books from different authors like Conrad Nwawo, Dennis Osadebey, Adewale Ademoyega, Olu Obasanjo, Forsyth (this is according to the perspective of Ojukwu himself and the book is titled ‘Emeka’) and others so I could draw conclusions from different sources.

He did what he could for his people, but he’s no yoruba hero and nobody betrayed him cos nobody sent an SOS to him in the first place. He should have concentrated on fighting his Igbo war, liberating his own people and left it at that.

Finally, a war was fought, lessons were learnt and the nation has moved on. Let nobody try to distort facts or sell Ojukwu as who or what he certainly wasn’t.

It was very obvious Ojukwu and his people wanted to take SW as their outpost using Lagos (the Capital city) as excuse.

Shebi Capital has moved to Abuja now, let's see how anyone of them will march West instead of North.

Ojukwu saw Nigeria for what it truly was, and would forever be. One country under one Region, the North. He did his best to liberate Southern Nigeria. He declared Biafra, he declared an independent Midwest. Probably him or Banjo would have declared an independent Western Region or Oduduwa Republic. Unfortunately, Yorubas were too wrapped up in their slavery to the North that the idea of being their own masters was not something they could even think about. A typical example of this is that June 12th is more important to the average Yoruba man than Oduduwa Republic. Ojukwu meant well, he meant freedom. All others preferred slavery

Igbos' antecedents belie what some indiscernibles think or thought that "only very smart people will understand" letter conveyed.

i am glad you know the truth. Ejoor told both Gowon his choice of neutrality, but Ojukwu sent colonel ochuzie to capture Ejoor, dead or alive. later on, samuel igbemudia set up a commitee to investigate and find out those that aid biafra invasion of midwest.

Brigadier Victor Banjo was given a Brigade of Biafran Soldiers and he overran the Midwest and reached as far as Ore. Unfortunately, a combination of Yoruba elements and Nigerian Soldiers of Northern extraction halted their advance and pushed them back. Banjo eventually lost all the territory he gained and returned to Enugu where he along with Ifeajuna, Alale and Agbam attempted to stage a coup and remove Ojukwu. All 4 men were arrested, faced a military tribunal, sentenced to death and executed. Ore was a tragedy because it is clear from the letter above that what Ojukwu wanted was a situation where Southern Nigeria would be free of Northern domination. He wanted Western Nigeria to become and independent country. Rather than fight for their sovereignty, Yorubas fought to remain slaves of the North. Even with Victor Banjo leading a liberation force to free them from Gowon and his Northern cabal in Lagos, Yorubas still opted for slavery under the North rather join Banjo to achieve freedom

Today, a Yoruba man cannot be President unless the North says so

Yorubas cannot make any laws the North does not agree with as the North has majority of the National Assembly by far

Today, the Yorubas cannot control any resource on their land unless the North agrees to restructuring

Yorubas fought to be slaves to the North when Ojukwu was fighting for his people to be free from Northern domination

Ojukwu letter expose Why south south are distancing themselves from Biafra

so Biafra will appoint military Governor in Yoruba land? but this Hausa/Fulani you called Yoruba master appoint military Governor in directive with federal republic of Nigeria constitution

on what documentary ground does Ojukwu want to appoint governor for the Yoruba people

thunder continue to strike Banjo for being dumb and God bless all the Yoruba and Hausa combinations for stopping Banjo and his shortsighted Yoruba gang of soldiers

Yoruba and Hausa political relationship had place them high on national political ground, how did Hausa appoint OBJ as president? Obj presidency was an atonement for the annulment of June 12, 1993.

Kanu can't give his people Biafra if he continue to share hate speech... He abused SS SW..
actually Wales and England are still together and as for Ireland, they not only abused England before breaking away...they were involved in terrorism...using suicide bombers for years. Almost 50 years before UK let them go.
