You can continue to wail and blame yorubas for your failure. We don't care. Yorubas don't owe you sh.it. your forefathers wasted their lives in a war they started. It was a war and not inter house sport. They killed and got killed as well. When they lost, they term it invasion and genocide to cover up for their weakness, cowardice and failure.
If you guys are not happy that your forefathers lost in a war they started, it is not too late to start another one. You can try your luck and see if you'll be victorious this time. But remember that there is no mercy in war. You go all out to kill, destroy and dominate. No such nonsense as war crime.
You can keep crying and wailing yorubas all your lives or just take the action and start the fight. Your rantings won't change sh.it.

Wow this topic was an epic revelation of flabbergasting proportion.
God bless nairaland for being such a place where Nigerians do their dirty laundries grin grin grin.
What people like us summed up based on our personal observation of the Biafran war, is finally out in the open and it's in black and white.

is Midwest an urhobo majority population? Afonjas again and mumu logic. Was ejoor in support of what was going on? Why won't he be removed for another of his Kingsman who supports freedom. Free education has destroyed the west

Biafra was not a Midwest project why was their popular non Igbo Gov Ejoor who was appointed by Ironsi and reappointed by Gowon removed to make way for an Igbo Gov Okonkwo whom they never wanted or asked for? Igbo were not the Majority in the Midwest , What business did Ojukwu have imposing his kinsman on a majority non Igbo population? Can you see why the invasion of the Midwest was so unpopular with the locals?

Highlights of Ojukwu 's letter to Banjo:

(iv) Biafran troops will, after the liberation of the Yorubaland, remain in that territory only for as long as we in Biafra consider it necessary for the Yorubas to consolidate their position and sovereignty against any external threat.

(vi) The liberation of Western Nigeria will be a prelude to the liberation of all Yorubas up to the River Niger and the severance of all connections between the West and the North at Jebba.

(vii) During the period of Biafrans troops’ presence in your territory, all political measures, statements or decrees shall be subject to the approval, in writing by myself or on my authority.

(viii) Should our troops arrive and liberate Lagos, the government of the Republic of Biafra reserves the right to appoint a Military administrator for the territory. Such an Administrator will remain in office until a merger of that territory with Yorubaland is effected by Biafran troops.

Thank God Banjo saw through Ojiukwu's deceit ! Ojukwu was trying to do an Afonja on Banjo!

What are you talking about? Ejoor is an Uhrobo man and Uhrobo were not a majority in the old Midwest. Major Albert Okonkwo was also a Midwesterner. If the Midwesterners were unhappy with the invasion of the Biafran forces, worse was to happen to them when the mainly Northern Nigerian forces invaded the Midwest and drove the Biafran forces out. The Midwest recorded one the highest massacres of civilians by the Nigerian Army. Not only that, Gowon renamed the Bendel state and those who followed divided the place into Edo and Delta and handed all their resources to the Federal Government

A thriving Midwest that had resource control under Ironsi and was declared an independent Republic by Ojukwu is now made up of two unitary states that are begging for 13% derivation in Nigeria. All of this because they accepted Northern domination like the Western Region

Ojukwu wanted Southern Nigeria to be free of Nigeria and Northern domination, the rest chose to remain in Nigeria under Northern subjugation. A pity

Na who send ojukwu? I thought he was fighting for biafra but here you 're telling us that he was fighting for the whole southern nigeria. According to his duplicitous minions, Ojukwu only embarked on the path of war after the enugu consultative assembly he hand-picked, mandated him to rebel against national authority.

At no time, did Ojukwu consulted with the rest of us (in the south) before he decided to save us from "northern subjugation". He probably thought he doesn't need our consent.

Yeah, Ojukwu must have been evil not to have consulted you before fighting so that you dont become a Northern slave. How bad of Ojukwu to send Biafran troops to the West to rescue Yorubas after their Military Governor, Fajuyi, had been killed like a Chicken and their most Senior Military officer who was supposed to be the next head of state, Ogundipe, had been chased away from Lagos and the Western Region occupied by the Northerners.

Terrible of Ojukwu

Don't mind them
Ojukwu was trying to use style to claim the Midwest , Lagos and the Western Region as part of Biafra.
What Effrontery !

Was it not Capt Nwobosi of the Eastern Region?

Reading the letter, one can see that the main aim of Ojukwu was to dislodge Gowon and his Northern cabal from Lagos. Had that happened, there is no way Gowon could have fought the Biafran war. All Yorubas had to do was rally round Banjo, chase Gowon out of Lagos and declare Oduduwa Republic. Today, the Yorubas are stuck inside Nigeria, begging the North for appiontments, begging the North for Presidency, begging the North for restructuring and it wont be long before they beg the North for air to breathe.

Ojukwu was thinking about how to achieve freedom, the rest were thinking about how to sink deeper into slavery

Brigadier Victor Banjo was given a Brigade of Biafran Soldiers and he overran the Midwest and reached as far as Ore. Unfortunately, a combination of Yoruba elements and Nigerian Soldiers of Northern extraction halted their advance and pushed them back. Banjo eventually lost all the territory he gained and returned to Enugu where he along with Ifeajuna, Alale and Agbam attempted to stage a coup and remove Ojukwu. All 4 men were arrested, faced a military tribunal, sentenced to death and executed. Ore was a tragedy because it is clear from the letter above that what Ojukwu wanted was a situation where Southern Nigeria would be free of Northern domination. He wanted Western Nigeria to become and independent country. Rather than fight for their sovereignty, Yorubas fought to remain slaves of the North. Even with Victor Banjo leading a liberation force to free them from Gowon and his Northern cabal in Lagos, Yorubas still opted for slavery under the North rather join Banjo to achieve freedom

Today, a Yoruba man cannot be President unless the North says so

Yorubas cannot make any laws the North does not agree with as the North has majority of the National Assembly by far

Today, the Yorubas cannot control any resource on their land unless the North agrees to restructuring

Yorubas fought to be slaves to the North when Ojukwu was fighting for his people to be free from Northern domination
This write-up shows how shameless and stupid you are, Victor banjo never planned a coup, Ojukwu merely used him as a scapegoat and to cover for his(Ojukwu's) flaws, Ojukwu like Nnamdi Azikiwe was a power obsessed idiot..... Talking about Awolowo, he proposed d Secession clause in 1955 but Nnamdi Azikiwe's greed made him rejected the idea and threatened to report Awolowo to the Brits and accused him of treason... But you guys always come on here to wail forgetting to remember that Igbos are the real causes of Nigeria's woes

You are a very big fool if you forget to remember that Fajuyi was killed alongside Aguiyi Ironsi who died as a result of his refusal to punish Nzeogwu and other igbo officers that planned the 1966 bloody coup. Because of tribal reasons. These officers were not punished and were even paid their full salary
.. This prompted the counter coup
