It's only Nigeria and some few oil and gas producing countries that are still flaring gas in the world. Although the project is lobsidedly poliicised, targeting the north only, but it is still a welcome development.kaduna is the only state that does not have a drop of oil,but has a refinery.

Rubbish. It has gotten to southern crude oil...they have quickly gotten all these expensive pipes.

Buying pipes to syphon the oil doesn't waste time. But develop the south na... Dey won't. No good roads but there are good pipelines channeling oil from South to North...fully guarded with military.

Their farmlands, Rivers, destroyed. They don't have money to clean the Rivers but to buy pipes worth millions of dollars is not a problem.

Shame on this country.

I pity the Southerners that are still sleeping...
Honestly, this is the most nepotic project I have ever seen. You are right my brother.

The south south and south east are on a long thing in this country. $2.8 Billion Dollars is not a small money talk more of when you covert it to naira. Why are they channeling the resources of this country to the northern part neglecting the states that produces this resources and nobody is saying anything.

I pity anybody shouting one Nigeria in this country. Because is obvious it does not exist.

Plzz keep your mouth shut!!

The amount of gas pipelines(in the East, West and in SS) built by PDP dwarfs this project.

Dont just talk cos you wanna play sillly politics.

If you were smart, you would know that both parties have failed us more than they have served us. With the current shenanigans of APC even worse
Shenanigans night be worse but definitely with beta infrastructural development plan n execution than the devilish PDP.

There is a big problem in this country, everything is being taken to the North with impunity. Rails, roads, pipelines, appointments, money and everything of worth is being channeled to the North while the regions where the resources are generated are grossly neglected.

Nigeria has a date with history because no country has ever survived state sanctioned injustice, they all end up breaking apart. It happened in USSR, Sudan etc.and Nigeria will not be any different.

Osun can boost that should be shameful ...it means nothing is using the power ...all states in Nigeria get less than 100mw of electricity ...abia had to have extra help even yet it can't match 8 hours light because people are using it

Only states like osun , yobe , and the rest that are unproductive have constant power
Osun is unproductive!?
You're joking, it's Aregbesola that changed the light situation of Osun state

The dissolution will happen before this year 2020 runs out.

You see this project? This will be the first to be extinguished from when the country finally divides. It is very painful to be neglected in your own country.

Look at China. See there giant stride developments in all sectors of their country. Nigeria can achieve that but man inhumanity to man has eaten deep.

We have so many projects in the east lying in waste due to negletion from the federal government.

Eko Atlantic is suppose to be at the finishing level now, but because it is not in the North, they are delaying it.

What of ports in the east, the coals, the lime stones for cement none was diversified just because of hatred.Am not even talking about railways again.

May God save us in this country

The project will be executed in three phases, with phase one covering the construction of a 200km-long segment between Ajaokuta and Abuja Terminal Gas Station at a cost of $855m.

Phase two will comprise a 193km-long section to be built between Abuja and Kaduna at a cost of approximately $835m.

Phase three will involve the construction of a 221km-long section between the Kaduna terminal gas station (TGS) and Kano TGS. This section will cost an estimated $1.2bn to complete.
After building the pipelines we blow them up simple

Ordinary gas pipe, they could not build. Even the one Buhari built as a petroleum minister in the 70s, they couldn't maintain it.
No dey yab nonsense u this apshit guy. If you read very well, the proposal was developed in 2013, during pdp regime, you should know huge projects such as this requires longer time frame before it could be ratified. Its a pdp legacy project, only approved by bubu, cos government is continual undecided

Fariq:
[s]The project will eventually reach North Africa in subsequent phases.

What will AKK pipeline project do for Nigeria? Great and wonderful things. It will create steady and guaranteed gas supply network between the North and South, and will enhance power generation capacity.

The industrial sector will be strengthened, local usage of gas will be promoted and increased, and the country’s revenue generation boosted through export of natural gas.

Nigeria is ranked the 7th most endowed natural gas country in the world. She sits on about 180 trillion cubic feet of natural gas deposits, which can be utilized as gas to power, gas to petrochemicals, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG), among others.

Over the years, Nigeria has exploited its oil resources more, to the detriment of gas, which incidentally fetches more revenue, but is also more expensive to prospect.

While presenting his performance report to the Federal Executive Council recently, Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, spoke extensively about CNG, and what it can do for Nigeria as an alternative to petrol.
He listed the challenges of the oil and gas sector to include; under-recovery, crude theft, insecurity, high cost of production, very low LPG penetration, refineries shutdown, long contracting cycle, among others.

Sylva stressed that the oil and gas sector remains critical to the Nigerian economy, even as we strive to diversify. He identified CNG and LPG penetration as priority.
Said the Minister: “The switch to CNG will help reduce the burden of petrol subsidy on the finances of the country, and government should encourage Nigerians to use CNG as fuel for transportation.”
IBU

CNG began as a pilot project in the country in 2006, but target for conversion workshops was not met till 2015. About 4,000 vehicles run on CNG iny Benin,Save Edo State, and it’s about 50% cheaper than petrol.

Vehicles running on CNG, statistics show, save about N1,143 daily, compared with petrol. This amounts to over N30, 000 monthly. The cost of converting the car can thus be recovered within six months.

Gas is cleaner energy, cheaper than petrol, and more friendly to the environment. Global warming will, therefore, be slowed down.
More than 175,000 vehicles run on CNG in America today, and 23 million worldwide. Nigeria will join the number, and boost productivity.
