Reminds me of the movie, "there will be blood". Daniel Plainview wanted to buy bandy's ranch because of its oil deposit. Bandy refused selling the ranch and granted daniel Plainview only pipeline construction right through the ranch, Plainview decieving Bandy that the pipeline construction is to link up to the seashore. But in real sense Daniel Plainview is actually drilling on bandy's ranch via slant(directional) drilling

North and Buhari no come here come joke at all ooo

Jonathan must be secretly regretting his lootocracy regime, instead of aggressively developing South he stole the money through proxy building useless hotels up and down, now Buhari is using EFCC to collect the money back and seize the assets to develop North

Benefits of this pipeline includes power supply to the North , Industrialisation in the North, Fertiliser plants in the North, reduction of gas flaring, earning of foreign exchange dollars by selling gas to Northern Africa

.

They will have to do their best to keep Nigeria ONE.

Because when Nigeria is dismembered, the pipes will be severed and redirected for local use by the regions that own the gas reserves, alternatively, the receiving region will have to pay for the economic product.

You want to use Gas from the NigerDelta and Igboland to power industries in Kaduna and Kano and the gas would be taken for free right ?
Lol. Stop talking nonsense. Is Niger delta or Igbo land not in Nigeria?? Its just like channeling oil from Texas to Illinois or Kentucky. What's d fuss in that . are they not within the same country

It's only Nigeria and some few oil and gas producing countries that are still flaring gas in the world. Although the project is lobsidedly poliicised, targeting the north only, but it is still a welcome development.kaduna is the only state that does not have a drop of oil,but has a refinery.

There is a big problem in this country, everything is being taken to the North with impunity. Rails, roads, pipelines, appointments, money and everything of worth is being channeled to the North while the regions where the resources are generated are grossly neglected.

Nigeria has a date with history because no country has ever survived state sanctioned injustice, they all end up breaking apart. It happened in USSR, Sudan etc.and Nigeria will not be any different.

I pray that it will be in my life time Nigeria will severe. I want to witness it and relish the feeling of freedom.

How can we escape colonization by Whites only to be colonized by Fulani.

First it availability is more than guranteed. We have 206 trillion of proven gas reserve. Similar project was done for the south west decade(s) ago

Secondly it will be used to power industries in Kano and Kaduna.

Third, the gas is being wasted now. Rather than allowing it to waste away, it will be utilized for something important.

Gradually the pipeline will reach north Africa (morroco) and to Europe.

Is this what will eventually put an end to gas flaring?

The project will eventually reach North Africa in subsequent phases.

What will AKK pipeline project do for Nigeria? Great and wonderful things. It will create steady and guaranteed gas supply network between the North and South, and will enhance power generation capacity.

The industrial sector will be strengthened, local usage of gas will be promoted and increased, and the country’s revenue generation boosted through export of natural gas.

Nigeria is ranked the 7th most endowed natural gas country in the world. She sits on about 180 trillion cubic feet of natural gas deposits, which can be utilized as gas to power, gas to petrochemicals, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG), among others.

Over the years, Nigeria has exploited its oil resources more, to the detriment of gas, which incidentally fetches more revenue, but is also more expensive to prospect.

While presenting his performance report to the Federal Executive Council recently, Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, spoke extensively about CNG, and what it can do for Nigeria as an alternative to petrol.
He listed the challenges of the oil and gas sector to include; under-recovery, crude theft, insecurity, high cost of production, very low LPG penetration, refineries shutdown, long contracting cycle, among others.

Sylva stressed that the oil and gas sector remains critical to the Nigerian economy, even as we strive to diversify. He identified CNG and LPG penetration as priority.
Said the Minister: “The switch to CNG will help reduce the burden of petrol subsidy on the finances of the country, and government should encourage Nigerians to use CNG as fuel for transportation.”

CNG began as a pilot project in the country in 2006, but target for conversion workshops was not met till 2015. About 4,000 vehicles run on CNG in Benin, Edo State, and it’s about 50% cheaper than petrol.

Vehicles running on CNG, statistics show, save about N1,143 daily, compared with petrol. This amounts to over N30, 000 monthly. The cost of converting the car can thus be recovered within six months.

Gas is cleaner energy, cheaper than petrol, and more friendly to the environment. Global warming will, therefore, be slowed down.
More than 175,000 vehicles run on CNG in America today, and 23 million worldwide. Nigeria will join the number, and boost productivity.

The gas belongs to the east, not Nigeria

Of coarse Tinubu's camp wouldn't mind signing any deal just like Obasanjo did in 1999 coming out of prison and still siding with Northern Elites

The Region's with less or no Oil with more allocation would easily side with North

Such Gas pipeline runs straight From SouthSouth and SouthEast to SouthWest power plants since and Yoruba Power Plant Owners like the Adelekes had being getting free gas from the east for long codedly while selling power at high profit margin

Osun can boost that should be shameful ...it means nothing is using the power ...all states in Nigeria get less than 100mw of electricity ...abia had to have extra help even yet it can't match 8 hours light because people are using it

Only states like osun , yobe , and the rest that are unproductive have constant power

No bruh.

Many towns in Abia also experience near constant electricity. Even some districts in Aba

Honestly, this is the most nepotic project I have ever seen. You are right my brother.

The south south and south east are on a long thing in this country. $2.8 Billion Dollars is not a small money talk more of when you covert it to naira. Why are they channeling the resources of this country to the northern part neglecting the states that produces this resources and nobody is saying anything.

I pity anybody shouting one Nigeria in this country. Because is obvious it does not exist.
you may wish to go back and read paragraph 7 of the write up again and edit your comment. In case you don't have time to go back paragraph 7 says "NNPC originally announced tenders for the development of the AKK pipeline in July 2013" ..... My question is who was the President and minister of Petroleum in 2013? Incase you don't know the answer Jonathan was the President and Diezani was the minister of Petroleum when this project was initiated in 2013

abohboy and fariq, both of you are part of this project. This project and others too numerous to mention are the reasons the South East and South South are against the South West . The WAGP you mentioned is based on cost benefit analysis carried out by Chevron. Other partners also joined chevron. The extension to industries in Lagos and part of Ogun was purely private sector driven.
Taking gas to North Africa countries from Nigeria. The cost of pipeline project within North Africa countries that have abundant gas is lower than running pipeline from Nigeria. The Southern Nigeria or Oil giants ENI/Agip, Shell are not impressed by your gas supply to Europe dream. This is just a political project. Yaradua killed Olokola LNG project initiated by Obj.

When Jonathan initiated this project in 2013, the tender for private partnership was not successful. The cost of pipelines per kilometer matters which determines rate of returns on the investment. Lagos to Accra is shorter than Lagos to Abuja. Gas pipelines from Lagos to Accra is more profitable to investors than gas pipelines from Lagos to Abuja, that is how investors think. Political project does not care. It exploits others to provide benefits for the ruling party.
