Abominations are simply things that are UNCLEAN or unacceptable: evil or SINFUL in the eyes of God.

When we commit sins, we become abominable: UNCLEAN and unacceptable to God, even if we try to hide under the cloaks of some EMPTY repentance, religious appearance, Religious/Church Activities, and every form of SELF JUSTIFICATION before men, to make them think we are spiritual or good.

However, Jesus did tell some MONEY LOVING, SELF-JUSTIFIED, Religious people that their SELF JUSTIFICATION before Men is an "abomination" in God's Eyes:

Luke.16.14 - Now the Pharisees, who were LOVERS OF MONEY, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.

Luke.16.15 - And He (Jesus) said to them, "You are those who JUSTIFY YOURSELVES BEFORE MEN, but God "knows" your hearts. For what is HIGHLY ESTEEMED AMONG MEN is an "abomination" in the sight of God.

Hence, anytime we try to justify ourselves before people: to show or prove we're RIGHT, to EAGERLY EXPLAIN ourselves or ARGUE when we are misunderstood or disagreed with by others, then we become an abomination: UNCLEAN before God.

When we're seeking to please God we won't be necessarily bothered about the positive or NEGATIVE opinions of people:

John.5.41 - "Your approval or disapproval means NOTHING to me,

John.5.42 - because I know you don't have God's LOVE within you.

We must seek to be no longer ruled by things or attitudes that justify ourselves before people like getting into arguments, worrying about the people's opinions, the CARES of life and other things that are HIGHLY EXALTED in the world.

Gal.1.10 - ... Or do I seek to PLEASE men? For if I still pleased men, I would NOT be a bondservant of Christ.

.Luke.16.15 - ... For what is HIGHLY ESTEEMED AMONG MEN is an "abomination" in the sight of God.
