Many of you don't know that king azubuike too well. His hatred for the army started last year when he had a heated argument with a soldier on another thread. (Forgotten his monicker but I will dig it up). The soldier happen to be a middle rank officer and promised Azubuike he was gonna look for him. Azubuike foolishly gave him his address and dared him to come with enough ammunition and men. Funny enough they came but and d soldier posted pictures on the thread as evidence but what later transpired we didn't get to know coz seun later deleted the thread after it seemed to be getting out of hand. He came back bragging about how he and his boys chased the soldiers away and gave them a run for their money but we don't even know the truth . It was a very serious case then in the crime section . Azubuike has always hated the army before then. After that incidence it got worse. He started his nuisance with this sister thread and later diverted here.

The soldier after searching for him later left..

He azubuike came back and started blabbing he wasn't around when he(the soldier) came that he is now around that the soldier should come again..

Lol..

But on a serious note, that's why I don't like picking e fights because you probably don't know who is who..

Learnt there was an ambush on our troops along Damboa road.

Yes bro o lost a close paddy lieutenant in that Ambush. Funnily enough na person wey my guys party with on Friday Night.

The Maiduguri-Damboa road is a stretch that has eaten the highest number of Soldiers throughout this insurgency. That's one deadly road that most Military Gun truck Gunners ensure they keep shooting into the bushes from the beginning of that journey till the end.

I'd advice you stop saying what you know nothing about else you put yourself in big mess just like him. The idiot claimed to be a captain . I told him to come if na him papa born am and I gave him my address. To top it , I told him to come with enough ammunition Incase it gets messy. The lowlife came in 2 trucks and on sighting who I was, I embarrassed him and his boys right there in front of gathering crowd. I also followed his case up and made sure he was dismissed from the army.

Rip to him, we pray his sacrifices/labour won't be in vain.
Enough of giving nuisances attention, this is a military discussion thread, let's discuss how the issue of ambushes like this can be solved.
SamuelAnyawu you are probably the only one who has plied that road here, could you please describe the terrain/vegetation and what makes ambush very difficult to suspect until it is too late.

I'm following him on Twitter and he seems like someone who the people's person. There are lots of tributes on Twitter from his junior and senior colleagues of his even from men in the other rank. Even the the well-known Brigadier Chief Ojukwu eulogized him. This is obviously how I want to be celebrated by my friends and foe in my prime as a Colito. cry

Until we make MRAP’s our least means of transport for soldiers in the N.E. frontlines, we will continue to suffer from ambushes.
BHT will always stage ambush and result to gorilla tactics has a result to keep relevant, But with well protected vehicles our troops would be able to fight through such ambush or repel it.

I much would it take the federal government to buy fairly used varieties of MRAP’s from the United States and order between 200-300 MRAP’s from Proforce to encourage indigenous products.

Some of these ambushes troops encounter can be easily avoided or neutralised when their is a deliberate attempt to get Intel's either on a 24/7 basis or atleast before any form advance is made and this is why I stubbornly canvass for a form of aerial surveillance one can't over flog this issue. For now, the cheapest option for the army will be to go for light drones even if they ain't armed the aerial surveillance will be too useful to neglect. eg Let's say before a unit travels to another location surveillance ought to be carried on that route before they embark on such journey. The US border patrols use hand held drones to properly track movement within the borders why can't we try it. Every unit ought to have one with them when going on patrol to enable them have better understanding of their path/environs.
There is a guy in Abuja that makes light drones had the capability of being airborne for 4hrs and it radio Comms have a range of 100km, his drone can take very clear pictures from 3000ft. He was interviewed one time on nta, where he took the reporter round his workshop the guy was once a Maths Olympiad he studied in the UK and worked for sometime at Google. I feel his drones can be of great use in the interim pending when we get better. I don't think it will cost more than N500k to get one.

Why is no one giving such ideas a chance atleast let us try it and fail so that we know we atleast gave it a chance.. Desperate times requires desperate measures.

Honestly you’ve spoken well, Our top “guns” are still doing things in the very old way.
Until we make Armored vehicles standard means of transport & 24/7 air coverage we will not be able to deliver final blow to this blood-suckers and reduce casualties due to ambush.

Yeap.
We need the mixture of the MRAPs and the BMP !
The MRAPs accommodates enough troops to move your soldiers from point A to B, while the BMP is a little bit cramps and tight but can deliver heavy fire power.

If I am the President before or upon appointing a service Chief, target(Performace evaluation) will be given to such a person for e.g 1 year if he/she doesn't meet up he will be shown the way out but before then such a person will be made to submit a proposal of what is needed to meet the said target. It's high time the political class apply business model especially wrt appointing service chiefs everyone should be made to justify the amount of money spent on them with commesurate result.
For instance, I'll call my service Chiefs in a high powered security meeting, I'll allow them speak their mind and each of them should come up with a proposal to end the insurgency within a given time frame or atleast make significant gain say capturing a Bokoharam stronghold like Lake Chad, or Sambisa and not allowing the terrorists to ever get access to that area again, it will be my responsibility as CinC to mobilize funds or whatever is needed to make such operations run smoothly, I'll expect nothing short of results after a stipulated timeframe otherwise such a service Chief should voluntarily handover his resignation letter.
That way I believe the position will not be seen as a mere political appointment and the need to lobby/jostle for the position will be watered down, anyone that aspires to be in that office should know his Onion and be amongst the very best of his peers cos he knows he will be shown the way out if he doesn't pass the performing evaluation after a given time frame.
