The truth is that no one here in this forum can tell if a new visa would be issued or not. But the fact is that it will be treated as a new application and you will still need to prove to the Visa Officer that you have no intention of staying back. Lastly I hope in your last trip to the USA you didnt stay more than the number of days or weeks you filled in the Ds160 application for your first Visa, even though you were stamped in for 6months because if you did you might be asked why.
Good luck.
Thanks for the reply and yes i did.
I traveled on a different date and I spent 13 days instead of the 7 days i stated on the form. I also traveled to a different state and at a different travel dates. I have valid explanations for all these

Hi fam.
What’s the fate of the valid B1/B2 visa for someone with a denied F1 visa. Will the B1/B2 automatically be cancelled??
.
If the F1 visa is approved the B1/B2 visa will be revoked.
But if the F1 visa is denied there is no reason cancelling the B1/B2 except in cases like ,if other issues come up pertaining your past travel that you cant defend.
But from the few ppl I know that had similar scenario their B1/B2 visa wasn't cancelled after they were denied F1 visa.

Please i want to ask, has the embassy started issuing B1/B2 visas. My relative who was due for interview before the lockdown got a message of the interview being postponed. I want to know if they have started and the process to follow about it. Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, the Visa offices are not yet opened. So nope.

Good day house, what are the chances of a daughter (not yet married) & above 18 yrs migrating to the USA. Her father will get an American citizenship this year after he passed his citizenship exam.

Can he file for her?

He can file for her irrespective of her age. If she is below 21, it is faster but above 21 might take years.

I guess it is tricky. Let me give an example. I got F1 in 2011 and upon graduation, I applied for a B1/B2 in 2013. Each time I traveled to//through the US until 2014 Christmas after I got the B1/B2, I was always delayed and kind of re-interviewed at the point of entry. December 2014, the border officer made a copy of my F1, stroke it out with two lines, and wrote C.W.O.P. in between the lines. He told me the system was still showing the F1 as active which is why I needed to go through the quizzing.

Down the line, I got another B1/B2 which is valid for 10years and also have a F1 valid for 5 years. Nothing is been said on the B1/B2 and I have been in and out a few times but they let me in on the F1 visa during this time.

This is contradictory to my initial experience and could imply one can have two different visas active on one's profile i suppose. I am guessing the length of stay could be the reason for the initial situation. While F1 gives duration of status, B1 gives 6months.

I quite agree with you Omobendel that I wasnt totally correct on my answer . After some research via www.travel.state.gov . I was able to find out that an applicant can actually have 2 different U.S visas such as F1 and B1/B2 in his or her passport but cant have two status at the same time while in the USA. In other words can only be admitted to the USA on either of the visa depending on the purpose of travel.

Hello Gboyega interesting insights. Would you mind sharing what country's passport this 10 year B1/B2 visa was issued in? Within the limits of my knowledge I understand the B1/B2 visa is limited to 2 years for Nigerian passports. I have heard this is also the duration Nigeria issues similar visas for the US and of course the US tends to be big on reciprocal administrative policies.

I am a Nigerian and on a Nigerian passport. So I moved to the US to study and then moved to Canada for further studies where I got Permanent Residence. I am back in the US now and the reciprocity law allows Canada PR 10 years Visit Visa.

What is the implication of overstaying your Tourist or Visit visa?

Probably to finally migrate to the US, is it possible?

I know some guys who went on visit or tourist visa and never came back. Thanks

Overstaying your tourist visa means you are Out of Status, which is a serious offense for CBP/ICE and State.Gov, which are the same agencies to approve your migrant visa/permit etc.

You will continue to live as an illegal immigrant.

Donald Trump's ban and restriction and suspension of visas have also made Adjustment of Status almost impossible.

LOL. Please check the US embassy website for any news on their reopening. However I think you might need to put a hold on any plans for the 2020/2021 school year because, as you can see, the world is in the throes of a pandemic, and the US is dealing with it very poorly.

Very poorly and non-chalant,People are not listening to simple instructions! Social distance and mask up! China and most european countries are already moving out of this covid situation but trump is busy having rallies and thinks the virus would just disappear without ENFORCING proper rules! EU is opening up their border & has temporarily excluded the United states,Nigeria etc from entering their space due to the way they’re handling the pandemic! The earlier the better! China was disciplined, that’s why they’re moving forward now!

Yeah. In summary:
No specific date on embassy reopening but they are actively working to figure out how to expedite student visas when it does reopen.
The main question in the interview is proof that you intend to be a student, they don't want rehearsed answers proving your home ties, they just want to know that you're qualified to be a student and intend to study in the US.

Hello house,
I just watched the US Embassy Live interaction on F1 student Visa however the take-away from there is they said they are going to make the F1 Visa Application a priority when they resume that is they will be attending to it majorly and who knows maybe a lot of F1 visa issuance since their quota for giving it out this year haven’t reach Halfway
N/B: they didn’t talk about when they are going to resume but I think it’s soon as they were so positive and they made mention of them having something they are or would be running for it.
Best of lucks.

Ok thanks for this info. I'm patiently waiting for my passport to be issued at the immigration.
But are us visa applications open or ongoing?
At what junction will I wait for the US embassy to be open

As Seyewest mentioned, you'd need to do a lot of reading.

This thread and all its parts are for Visit Visa (NON-Immigrant Visa) ONLY.

Permanent Visa (Immigrant Visa) is not covered here.

Requirements as requested are available at https://ng.usembassy.gov/visas/

Obtain a Nigerian Passport (Nigerian Immigration)
You need to apply for visa. (US CEAC website)
Pay the visa fees (Your Bank)
Book an appointment for visa interview (US Travel Doc website)
ok thanks
