About 4,625 university and polytechnic graduates representing 35 per cent have applied for recruitment into Amotekun Corps in Osun, Sunday PUNCH has learnt.

Twenty per cent of the applicants are university graduates from various disciplines, while 15 per cent have Higher National Diploma.

Application for job in Amotekun Corps in the state ended on Tuesday, June 27 with about 13,000 applying for placements.

However, data obtained from the office of the corps on Friday revealed that the majority of the 13,216 applicants were married men.

Further analysis of the applicants indicates that 1,891 single females also applied for recruitment.

According to other details obtained by our correspondent, male applicants are 9,214 out of which 8, 615 are married.

The data reveals that 4,002 females out of which 2,011 are married also applied for placements.

Further breakdown of the educational qualifications of the applicants shows that “10 per cent of them possess Ordinary National Diploma, while five per cent of them have National Certificate of Education.

Senior School Certificate Examination holders make up 40 per cent of the applicants, with six per cent of them having Primary School Leaving Certificate.

Those in the category of non-education constitute four per cent of the total number of the applicants.

The Director-General of Amotekun Corps in Osun, Mr Amitolu Shittu, in a chat, assured that “the applicants will be properly screened and subjected to various tests.”

There is no job anywhere in this country except you are rich and connected. Three years ago I was with one private school as vice principal. We advertised few teaching positions and the application we got was so many to shortlist all.
We were able to shortlist about 100 for interview meanwhile we just needed 15 teachers.
Salary was poor. Even as a vice principal then my salary was not up to 45k.
The day of the interview, we had more gatecrasher than the invitees.

Most of them came to me begging. To my utmost surprise, many had Msc. I still remember one guy with PhD. He was pleading we should give him chance. That's a PhD holder. I couldn't believe my eyes.
In this life, no matter the level of your education, if it cannot be transformed to cash, you will stil be looking stupid and no one will be willing to associate with you.
In all you do, just try and make money legitimately.
May God provide job to every graduate out there.

The way graduates are rushing for menial jobs, security jobs and npower 30k jobs, I think we should scrap university education and convert them to vocational institutions and then establish just 6 universities with school fees running to millions like the ones we run to abroad
