You guys keep throwing around the word "blasphemy" what does it Practically Mean in daily living according to you? (Since I have already presened my own thoughts on it).

There's no sin that is unforgivable.....

The moment you accept Christ into your life, all sins are washed away.....

Because, when you accept Christ into your life, there are things you will never do and Satan will never has you to his tables, but the temptations will be mighty and you will need only God's grace and wisdom to stay steadfast....
The unforgiveable sin (the sin of blasphemy against the holy spirit) is simply the sin of unbelief.. All other sin can be forgiven except the sin of unbelief.

To understand this, we need to consider what was happening. It was not merely that the Pharisees heard Jesus’ preaching and denied his gospel. But here they not only heard Jesus’ claims about himself, but they also received clear validation of those claims through the power of the Holy Spirit (via the miracle Jesus performed). Instead of believing, they attributed to the devil what was the work of Christ through the Holy Spirit. They said, “He has an evil spirit” (Mk. 3:30). So hardened were their hearts, that even knowing the miracle was of God they ascribed it to an evil spirit, knowing it was true they still insisted it was false. That is the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, willfully and intentionally refusing to submit to God and his Word.

Why is this sin “unforgivable?” Jesus said, “Every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven” (Matthew 12:31). God is not unwilling to forgive. God gave his Son to die for our sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, because of his boundless grace. What makes this sin unforgivable is the offender’s unwillingness to repent and believe. Their hardened attitude is shown by their determination to reject any proof for Jesus divine mission, to the extent that they even attribute God’s attestation of Jesus to the devil.

That leaves one question, namely, should Christians fear that they have or may yet commit the unforgivable sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? Perhaps you said something long ago that haunts you because of its blasphemous nature. Are you, then, guilty of this unforgivable sin, or might you be?

The answer is that, by definition, no true Christian can have committed the unforgivable sin. Jesus promised, in John 6:40, “Everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” In fact, let me assure you that if you are worried that you may have committed the unforgivable sin that is strong testimony that you have not; if your heart were hardened enough to commit the sin you would no longer be concerned about your eternal state. Instead of pleading to Jesus you, like the Pharisees, would be plotting harm to his kingdom. If you believe and confess in your heart that Jesus is Lord and Savior, then you have accepted the Spirit’s testimony and by definition have not blasphemed against it. Regardless of blasphemous words that have fallen from your lips or thoughts. If you have believed and turned to Christ then you have not committed this sin that is revealed through unbelief and hatred for Christ. Even Simon Peter, who denied the Lord with curses on the night of his arrest, was brought to repentance and was restored by the mercy of the Lord. If you, like Peter, have sometime denied Christ out of weakness and sin, then like him you are qualified to speak about Jesus’ mercy and grace that offers forgiveness to sinners.

Hello everyone, now this is a serious issue...
I have about sins that can or might not be forgiven, and that's sins against the holy spirit as i learnt.
Now my main questions is, you committed this sins when you have zero knowledge of their consequences.
Please am asking, is it justifiable?
And another question is, The Bible said if you believe in Jesus Christ, you are saved...
Now someone who have such past sins against the holy spirit but later believe in Jesus and repent, what is his fate....
Because this matter tire person o... I read were it has been stated plainly that these sins against holy spirit will not be forgiven.
Any clergyman should help pls.
Lalasticlala mynd44 OAM4J
Please help, i seriously need help with this and i know alot of others might be ignorant of this
What you need to know is the sin against God's holy spirit!

Well it's the sin we knowingly committed against the truth for unjustifiable motives!

When Jesus was alive, most Jews accused , insulted, cursed even assault him for speaking against what they were taught to be God's law. But many of them were ignorant of it. Act 2:29-38

Jesus' statement meant "there is pardon if your heart never judge you on the actions you're taking against the truth because you don't know of it, but you won't be forgiven if you're just supporting or motivating misinformed angry mobs against an innocent soul"

Such a case becomes unforgivable because the culprit is perpetrating the evil and even instigating (misinformed angry mob) to keep fighting against the truth.
Politicians do this a lot because their main concern is their Political ambitions, that's what the Pharisees and Saddusees did even when they knew from all indication that Jesus is the promised Messiah (Christ) {John 11:47} they just want to keep their Political appointments intact! John 11:48

So no matter what you do in life, when you know the truth say it and don't allow others to push you or should you instigate others into fighting a wrong course!

Apart from this God will forgive your sins in Jesus name! smiley

Now you need to understand something here.

The sin against the Holy spirit is blasphemy which is not a sin that occurred before you got born again but a sin committed after you must have been born again and tasted of his wonders. Enjoyed the benefits of a Christian, Preached the gospel and worked extensively for God. Then you now backslide and begin yo speak against the gospel,
Christians and Christianity
to the same people whom you preached the gospel to in time past.

Hope this helps.
You made good points until you added the bolded.

For, those who know and understand Him will even tell you the Hurt and Pain He Suffers for the Offences we Inflict on Him, For He is a Very Sensitive God; Not a hair on your head, falls down, that He did not hear it. Luke 12:7. Many times, you do not even know when your hair falls, but He hears it!
I totally disagree with your assertion. Humans cannot inflict any kind of pain or suffering on the Creator of heaven and earth. The sinful activities/wickedness of humans can only affect them and their fellow human beings. However, if you bring Scriptures to support your assertion above, I will reconsider my stance.

Remember Saul who became Paul did the same, but He greatly worked to Redeem His Soul because of his error.
Please, where did Paul say this.

Dtruthspeaker:
For it is written the Offence was great so also the Work of Repentance Must be Great for it to be valuable and Acceptable.
Is this Scriptural?

Blasphemy simply means Wrongful Insult, Ridicule, Mockings, Abuses and Defamation Directed at the Holy and Good God, Who Has Only Done Good Good Things, Wrongfully blasting and broadcasting and Saying that He is wicked or even evil and that He Does wicked things, when in Truth, He has never Done A single Little Wrong!

It is exactly as you Must Feel when you are Wrongfully Accused of A crime that was in Truth, even impossible for you to have committed, yet the whole world has heard about the crime you are alleged to have committed, and they are making noises about it!

Remember, it was not very easy to forgive the person or persons who put you through this ordeal when your Innocence finally came forth!
The picture of the Creator of heaven and earth you painted here is wrong. You're projecting the feelings and emotions of mere mortals on the Creator of the ends of the Earth. That is wrong!

It is in man's own interest to turn away from wickedness and not in the interest of his Maker. This is because, whether human beings do good or evil, they are the ones who will enjoy or suffer the consequences.

The wicked actions of mortals can only affect them and their fellow mortals, directly or indirectly.

Like in the other response, if you provide scriptural support for your assertions, I will reconsider my stance.

cool What you do not know that the Lord Feels Pleasure, As He Feels Pain? You Really Do Not Know!! Whow!

You do know that wrath Always Means Anger, even great Anger.

Shall A Person who is capable of being Angry and Vexed, not be be capable of receiving Pleasure and Joy?

Genesis 38:10 Judah's Sons Wickedness is it not clearly stated there "And the thing which he did displeased the Lord:"

In Genesis 6:6 was the Lord not Hurt and Pained and He suffered Anguish, Disappointment and Regret when He saw that man loved Wickedness? Or would you say He was happy?

Or in Genesis 6:9-13, would you say that He was happy to see corruption and violence on the earth?

Or is it Genesis 32:10 where God Clearly told Moses "Let me alone, that my Wrath may Wax Hot against them,..." during the golden calf episode.

Or is it when Korah and Co Challenged Moses's Authority Numbers 16, Specifically verses 20 and 21? Was God Happy there?

Or would you say that Our Lord was happy when He Chastised the scribes and Pharisees in Mathew 23:1-39?

In Genesis 1:31 would you say that the Lord was very pleased with His Work of Creation?

Or is it Solomon's Request in 1 king's 3:5-15 Particularly verse 10 which states " And the speech pleased the Lord,..." Until 1 King's 11, when turned to other gods Particularly 1 king's 11:9 "And the Lord was Angry With Solomon,.."

I have shown the Emotions of the God as contained in Scriptures both Anger and Pleasure and Displeasure and I would have shown you more for it is all over the Bible, but I am exhausted and neither did I expect that No one out there does not know that God gets Angry as He is capable of being Happy.

Even, though He is Greater than us, we are truly like Him, just as it is written and as Christ has Shown us through His Parables.

The picture of Him you painted is still very wrong. Our Father in heaven can be pleased with and displeased with his creatures. Not that our actions can hurt him, cause in pain or inflict suffering on him. That is ludicrous!

If the Creator is pleased with any of his creatures, he blesses such creature. However, if he displeased with such creature, he pours his wrath on such creature.

It is as simple as that.

Very true we are a little like him for we are made in his image. We must not think that he is like us, mere mortals.

It in man's best interest to do good and abstain from evil. If man fails to do this, he will end up inflicting pain and suffering on himself and maybe his fellow human being, depending on the kind of evil.

I am not disputing the fact that the Creator gets angry. He does. However, not in the way you described above.

"31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

A man's wickedness cannot hurt or inflict any kind of injury or pain on his Maker.

Job 35:5-8 Look at the sky! See how high the clouds are! If you sin, that does no harm to God. If you do wrong many times, does that affect him? Do you help God by being so righteous? There is God needs from you. Others suffer from your sins, and the good you do helps them.

And thanks to everyone who commented on this thread. I am greatly impressed and happy to know i have not forsaken my lord and maker. Yea we commit sin, we are human but we have to try to be better.
Am grateful
My man, all these fears are unnecessary, God did not send his son to count our sins against us but to reconcile us to himself.

The so called unforgivable sin in Mark, was when the pharisees accused jesus of using Belzeebub. It says you would not be forgiven for such a blasphemy, which simply means you would be held accountable for it.

No where does it say you are doomed forever in Hellfire, I wonder why Christians allow so much fear.

The unforgivable sin simply means that God would hold you accountable to it. You would be called to account. The pharisees also saw the light but preferred darkness to light, hence they were going to be cut out.

When you work against the truth and wilfully obscure it with lies, you would surely be held accountable to that, it didn't say you are separated from God forever or going to a so called Hellfire.

Ok

The unforgivable sin simply means that God would hold you accountable to it. You would be called to account. The pharisees also saw the light but preferred darkness to light, hence they were going to be cut out.

When you work against the truth and wilfully obscure it with lies, you would surely be held accountable to that, it didn't say you are separated from God forever or going to a so called Hellfire.
Hmmmmh!

Matthew 12:30-32
30 “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. 31 And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

What does the bolded mean?

What is the age to come? how does it mean heaven and hell? it means in the age of the revelation of the kingdom of God or in future generations, the person would not be forgiven. It didn't say it would remain that way forever. Don't you know there is a first death and a second death? Don't you know that biblically there would be a 1000 year reign of christ?
You shouldn't always read heaven and hell into every future judgement prescribed by God, if you look closely, most of God's judgement and rewards have nothing to do with a future heaven and hell.

One thing we should take note of, is that even jesus himself didn't know when the kingdom of God would come on earth. He expected it to be soon, following the judgement of the wicked religious leaders in Jerusalem.
Only God knew what he had in store, and jesus believed in a very physical kingdom with 12 thrones for his 12 disciples as they judge the tribes of Israel and rule rightfully as against the way the Romans ruled then.

Jesus is saying when that age comes in the PHYSICAL kingdom of God on earth, even those who spake against him may be forgiven, but speaking against the Holyspirit hath no forgiveness even in that age. They would still be cast out of Jerusalem ( the kingdom) into outer darkness ( more like exile) or even destroyed in the grave called ghenna where the fire does not quench and the worm never dies. This is simply death not everlasting fire torturing a ghost.

What does it mean here as well?

Luke 18:30-32 NIV

Luke 18:29-30 KJV
29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

Consider:

Jer 13:23 Can an Ethiopian change his skin or a leopard its spots? Neither can you do good
who are accustomed to doing evil.

Isaiah 26:10-11
But when grace is shown to the wicked,
they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and do not regard the majesty of the YHVH. YHVH, your hand is lifted high, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people and be put to shame; let the fire reserved for your enemies consume them.

.

Acts 28:26-27

“‘Go to this people, and say, You will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see but never perceive. For this people's heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed; lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.’

Isaiah 6:10

Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.

You are just quoting scriptures, I don't understand what you want me to decipher from those scriptures.
My point is this: The fear of the op is unfounded, if we have sinned and sincerely want a second chance, God is loving enough to accept us and faithful to turn things around for us, making us new creatures.
Those who commit sin against Holyspirit are those who are not ready to accept the kingdom of God no matter what( pharisees then) and who deny the power of God even when they know the truth.
So I joined this arguement in order to help the op quit this unnecessary fear.

What about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and later repented truly,

Will you still be forgiven?

Well as a christian, I shouldn't worry about such things. If I had mistakenly or without knowledge of what I was doing, blasphemed the spirit, then I wouldn't compare myself to the pharisees of old. Besides, I believe jesus was only giving a warning to those pharisees.
So if you think you have sinned before( no matter the sin) and you seek forgiveness, just run to God and sin no more.
