Dear esteemed knowledgeable gurus, please kindly assist me with your advise. I am about to buy a Toyota Camry 2007 an I don't know if I'm making a good choice for my first ever car. I just need a good car that can take me from point A to point B, with little intercity trips. I'm not concerned about the speed cos I don't ever intend going beyond 120km/h that's I ever get to that. Please advise if the Toyota Camry 2007 is OK for fuel consumption, maintainance and preferably the 4cylinders as I'm not an acceleration freak or a speed freak.......... I also have the Sienna in mind but my wife says she doesn't like it. Pls is the Toyota Camry 2007 worth it? Also, what are the likely issues common with the Camry 07.

Thanks alot

The Camry is good but I suggest you go for newer models eg 2010 version. All the best.

Are you buying Toks or a Nigerian used? Other options include a Corolla for a first car. Corolla is easier to maintain, better fuel economy and gets the job done with ease since you’re not a car enthusiast. Camry is good but if you’re unlucky, it can be hell.

Are you buying as toks? 2007-2009 series is known to consume much engine oil if it carries high mileage.

About corolla, it's seems too small for me because of my large frame, I'm tall and built, so in d corolla I drove last which is for my sister, I felt really uncomfortable cos of my long legs and I had to adjust the seat such that the back seat won't b comfortable for anyone seated in it.

Fair enough. The reason I asked about the condition of the car is because many Nigerian used cars are abused by their previous owners. And you really won’t know all the problems of a car till you start using it. Happened to me with a wonderful looking Toyota Camry 2006 which I eventually sold a month later.
If your budget is less than 1.5m don’t buy a 2007 Camry. Go for a 2006 or 2005 Camry.

This is actually going for 1.4 and it looks and works OK, should I still go for it? Thanks

It's a nice car. Quite easy to maintain and consumes less fuel. But if you going for a Nigerian used, I advise you quit that thought. Instead go a the big daddy 2005 to 2006 models.

Check the mileage of the car, and send me the VIN no to check for free, lets see how it was before import.

The owner of the 07 Camry may be ditching it because of the oil burn issues of which you won't know until you start using it, go for a toks 2005 or 2006 Camry and have peace of mind

The difference b/w the Asian pieces of shyte and European cars.
I'm 6feet on d dot but own only a golf 4 and a C class.
Never felt uncomfortable in any of those due to the bucket seat technology.

Listen carefully and work with this quoted suggestion. Camry 2007 - 2009 with 2AZ-FE engine are notorious for excessive engine oil consumption as they age irrespective of maintenance history. If you can up your budget, just settle for 2010 with known maintenance history if you must do Camry for peace of mind in a long while.

Get it checked by a very good and trusted mechanic. Scan the car too for codes. Just be very careful cos a faulty Camry 2007 can be very unforgiving and expensive.
I’ll still advice that you buy a 2006 or 2005 Camry for your budget even less. Good luck

Bros, let a competent mech check it.
I got one at 1.38m last February, till this moment I have not spent a Kobo aside fuel.
Oh, N300 to fix my Tyre after picking nail.
I think I am lucky.
Guess what? I checked it by myself and a friend who is not even a mecho.
Good luck.

True, but I don't really know much about cars, so I think it's safer to go with a mechanic, thanks boss

I wouldn't advice you do inspection by yourself, if you have trusted mecho around you.
I wanted to go GAZZUZZ, but Lagos is far from me. I currently don't have a trusted mecho in my location, I believe I am better than most of them.
They are 'thermostat is bad' kind of people

Be careful of that 07 Camry... Its notorious for oil burn... Try and ask the owner the type of fluids he uses to service the car... Give us feed back... Let's know if it's an abused car

I have a toyota camry 2004/2005 model. I'm sure you are going to like it because it is not the regular American spec big daddy. Easy to maintain and a bit luxurious at an affordable price. It is foreign used though . Attached are some pictures of some I have and some I have sold.

what about Camry 2003 do it have history of oil consumption

Note that all engines tend to consume more oil as they age but some consume it in excess. 2002-2006 Camry comes with the original 2AZ-FE engine (not the upgraded one in the next gen) which works fine even at old age.
