PTF should just consult me in case they need more test kits at cheaper cost. I can deliver upntob100,000 in a month with reagents. Lots of people are dying silently in the various northern states and communities as a result of covid-19 complications. People aren't aware of their cases because they're not popular Nigerians. Less than 30k tests achieved in nearly 4 months in a country of over 200m population isn't good at all.

Our govt should stop playing politics with human lives. Amazingly, their lives too aren't safe in this situation.

Seems u read but did not quite understand. We won’t let our health system be overwhelmed - some people would be allowed to die - so those alive will have a life a bit worth living - just as u lose some people in war.

You treat anyone that comes in to the hospital the same. You don't decide who lives and dies at the door.

For example, there are many severely ill covid19 patients who have survived because of intensive care. Should we have let them die in the name of 'we don't want our health system to be overwhlemed).

What if it was you or your relation? You won't agree with us refusing to treat you based on your reasoning.

I once had a severely ill old man in our wards on admisison. Based on your reasoning, we should have left him to die. We did our best, and he lived.

And the world wide figures keep surging exponentially. Might you have an idea of what is cooking in South Africa? The rate at which their figures are galloping they might soon become the Brazil of Africa! 10,800+ new cases in one day! That is exponential. While their accelerated testing might be the factor their death rate though is worrisome.

But all this was projected months ago. Millions infections and 40,000+ deaths in SA. The lockdown was to equip the health system and prevent it from being overwhelmed.

So it's not surprising, the President forewarned the nation.

That’s why I said u did not read my post well. The main reason for my suggestion was that, for whatever reason, the virus was not as lethal in Nigeria and likely never would be - because it would have started happening by then.

No, the virus is not bad in Nigeria because we kind of limited the exposure early on.

In Italy , the average Italian can travel globally better than the average Nigerian. And many of them travelled to Asia as tourists...and brought home COVID.

In Nigeria, very few people have the income to be international tourists. As a result we are not as exposed to the virus as Italy. Thus, we don't have as many cases.

And lockdowns are a way to limit the number of cases we already have.

Italy had a high number because they did not lock down in time, and they had a higher number of exposed people. Add the fact that 25% of their population is over 65...and yes, many of them travel well well as toursts, and you get why they were affected badly.

Also,Italy is a big toruist destination, and millions of toruists come in from around the world...including China. One region of Italy also had hundreds of Chinese working there. And they were iniltially not subject to restrictions.

That Nigeria does not have a high number of cases is because of limited exposure. We lockdown to keep that exposure limited...so that we don;t end up with an Italian scenairo.

At the time I put up that post 100’s of people a day were dying in New York while Nigeria was yet to record a single home-based death.

They suspended flights from China, but crucially, not from other countries who had not suspended flights from China..And the thing was, as we now know, running ramapnt in other countries apart from China by then
