A shot on target is any attempt that the player of the other team pulls (strike), that will lead to a goal, however such could be prevented (saved/cleared).
Own goals are not shot on target, a shot that deflect for a corner is a shot off target. Ball that hit the woodwork and back in play are off target, shot saved outside the box (no hands) are blocked shots.
A direct free kick attempt that is saved (not deep crosses) is a shot on target, all goals coming from the opposition players are on target.
