Ize-Iyamu To Appear In Court Today Over N700 Million Fraud by nairalandankrah(op): 7:44am On Jul 07, 2020

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress for September 19 governorship election in Edo State, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, will appear in court on Tuesday (today).

He is standing trial for eight counts of money laundering to the tune of N700m meant to prosecute the 2015 general election, in a case preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Ize-Iyamu is being tried along with four others before Justice J. M Umar at the Federal High Court in Benin-city.

The EFCC, in suit No. FHC/BE21C/ 2016, said Ize-Iyamu and four others allegedly received public funds illegally to the tune of N700m for the 2015 general election, contrary to the provisions of the EFCC Act and the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act.

The Court had on June 18, 2020, validated the corruption charges against the defendants and adjourned the case tilll Thursday, July 2, 2020, for further hearing, but the trial was stalled on Thursday due to the absence of the trial judge.

The same money Jonathan and Pdp gave him to spend as the campaign director of the pdp presidential campaign in Edo state in 2015. Actually he used the money for the purpose Jonathan and pdp gave him that was why pdp won the 2015 presidential election in Edo.

Whether he should have known that the funds Jonathan and Pdp gave him to spend was stolen that is for the courts to decide.

For those who may want to start shouting the others charged are the present state pdp cgairman,the present pdp south south vice chairman.

But I trust Obaseki supporters or anything anti apc to shout without first reading about the case that has been in court since 2017 and haven't even started.
