From the charges above, you can see that Yinusa clearly committed rape as Ese Oruru was abducted, induced, deceived and coerced all the way.

She NEVER gave consent.

Count 5 clearly shows that she is old enough to give consent but never did.

This goes to buttress my point that the age of consent is 11 and not 18 as things stand currently.

So, Yinusa Yellow should actually be getting life imprisonment for committing rape. If his sentences are to serve concurrently, he will actually spend 7 years. What a slap-in-the-wrist judgement for someone who nearly ruined the life of a young girl! He forcefully abducted her and got her pregnant. Very grave indeed!

What would have happened to him had it been a fling Nothing!

The recent laws of 2004 and 2015 (whatever those laws says) doesn't invalidate the child rights act. The child rights act of 2003 is still a LAW in this country and that law says the age of consent for sex is 18 years.

3. Count five: “That you, Yinusa Dahiru, had unlawful carnal knowledge of Ese Oruru without her consent and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 357 of the criminal code Act and punishable under section 358 of the Criminal code ACT, Cap. C.38 laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”


Please how does this count 5 peg the age of consent for sex at 11 years? Are you saying the judgement of a judge overrides the letters of the Constitution?
