Kenya on Tuesday officially cancelled the academic year of both their primary and secondary school system, Those who were to sit for their secondary school admissions examination in October and those exiting secondary school education who were to sit for their secondary school leaving certificate exams in November are not going to sit for them any more this year as every kid in primary and secondary school will start all over again in January and repeat their classes.
Kenya isn't naija . their academic session just started so it's easier to cancel. They start 1st term January there we start our September. So do we wait till September next year before we resume school?

Is it in only schools one could contract corona
And Edo election, could be open to a student that was in lockdown.

*Food For Thought*

*1,590,173 sat for WAEC in 2019. In 2020, it will probably be something around that figure.*

*These boys and girls will not write WAEC this year (2020) because of COVID.*

*Edo State has 2,210,534 registered voters, while Ondo State has 1,822,346. Combined, both States have 4,032,880 Registered Voters.*

*Elections will hold in both States this same year (2020) in spite of COVID.*

*Examination arrangements can be better optimized to enforce safety necessities; it will take ten times the effort to keep a polling unit orderly and safe.*

*A country's future can be deduced from how its leaders set priorities.*

EDO AND ONDO electorate need to come out and protest that the gubernatorials be postponed until further notice, just the way the government did school resumption dates

Well said.
However. Please note that schools will not be reopened for one say or week. Schools would be reopened days ahead of the exam for student to revise and make adequate preparation for the exam. Schools will also be open throughout the duration of your exam. While I agree with you that our leaders prioritize wrongly, your comparison is faulty.

election campaigns alone will take a whole month, not to talk of other political activities that precede election.

That is a kind of statement you make when you feel a government is acting like a dictatorship.

Your hands are tied, it's not want you wish for, expected or want but their imposition could not give you the opportunity to make your choice.

Of the total number of voters in Edo and Ondo, how many of them will come out to vote

The election is just a day affair, how many days do you think the exam will take.

If other advance countries can stop their exams until the coast are clear, what's wrong in naija decision.

Above all, we all know the incapacity of our govt except we want to endanger our pupil, we do not have the facilities to open school now. We shouldn't deceive ourselves.

I know it that when student protest on this they'll definitely have to partake in the exams cos all those thieves care about is MONEY

maybe not their unis. My point is I agree with you on not having what it takes to safely reopen schools like some countries are doing so it *might* be better to play it safe but when it seems government isn't doing anything at all sad then they might as well just act like we're safe sad.

The electorate are adults who come from home to cast their votes on a set date and time and thereafter return home. Meanwhile, the students who mainly are teenagers are expected to sit for an exam that will last for weeks and probably stay in a dormitory supervised by aged principals and teachers etc. Bros it's a different ball game entirely.

I doubt, the government won't. The elections are for adults and not for children. It is believed that adults can keep effective social distance and protect themselves, while children may not be able to.
Please, are you trying to say that these SS3 students are children, hmmmmm.People that are mostly age16-18.Are this so called children so dumb to understand the effect of coronavirus if they don't obey safety precaution.

Thing is looking at Nigeria the past 4 months, we can't handle even just those 3 classes reopening. If things worked then maybe we would have been close to a comfort zone for school reopening. And then you have entitled tertiary students that will use the fact that transition classes have resumed to push for tertiary resumption also grin.

If the secondary school students are still kids can't they allow the university students who are completely adults to resume. If you take a look at the seating arrangement of the waec students you'll agree with me that the social distance is maintain compare to the ondo and edo elections that is about to commence. I think our govt dislike education and can do anything to protect their political ambition.

you're doubting Nigerian students . When they hear people say it's a hoax everyday? When the teachers who could see it as a hoax also could expose them? When Adults don't know the effect of the so called corona virus sad.

I support the Minister of Education on this issue. These children will be coming together for almost two months. These are Teenagers that live free lives. You cannot just change the way they do their things overnight. Majority of them live carefree life. Some of them will have to go to school in public transport, hug themselves, eat together, drink together. You cannot just change them overnight. Moreso, they will be writing this exam for Four weeks. And, you expect them not to exhibit their normal ways?

In my own opinion, looking at our health care status, we should just suspend WAEC at least for now.

Comparing WAEC canditates figures with up coming eclectorates figures is baseless. Election will be held in ONE day. And, moreover, you are voting within your territory. And, being just one day excercise, people will be extra careful comparing to putting these tennagers under new constraints for Four weeks.

I strongly believe that by August, the vaccine should be ready. Thereafter, we can think of exposing these children knowing fully that even infected, we can give them the drugs.

We should learn from other countries mistake! Never rush things to avoid gigantic tragedy.

Please, dont crucify the Minister of Education. He is very right. The Junior Minister suppose to have discussed the issue vividly with senior minister before making such conflicting uterrances.

Anyways, I believe they must settle this issue within themselves. Pls NO TO REOPENING SCHOOLS NOW!

All these O levels examinations are no longer credible in recent times. So much malpractice goes on, yet they just want to keep conducting them year in year out without any quality assurance. My suggestion is to allow universities run A - level or pre-degree programmes for one year for students who will miss out on O-levels exams, to enable them gain Nigerian tertiary institutions admissions. We can always conduct NECO at our convenience when the current public health situation improves. When the effect of the pandemic is adjudged less critical, students who are still interested can register for WAEC at their convenience any other year.
Ur talks are irrational I must say malpractice in the universities are even worse than that of ssce
