Sorry about the job loss. How's the user experience with the laptop? Care to share link? Good to share your experience, it is useful as some of us may run into their crazy billing (duty) soon.

Update? When was that and what version is the update? If you're sure it's your account, chat the cc up for explanation. They might be able to assist/advice you appropriately.

Login to your account on a PC and see what you have there; it might be an app bug.

Yes, it was after an App Upgrade. Checking through a pc gave me another information entirely. My currency changed to dollars and country changed to USA Flag.
But all my orders still were not there

Does anyone have any June order that was shipped through singpost that have been dispatched to overseas?, because my June 4th order has been showing hand over to airline since 10th june and I'm approximately phone less right now. Don't know why Aess is so slow. This people should bring my phone ooo

Was called that I have three packages yesterday. Tracking number shows they are packages shipped since 7th April on Singpost. In fact one of 'em shows error (no information at all) on tracking while the rest has remained on "item dispatched to airline" till this moment. No updated status, yet it is already in my local PO.

Meanwhile there are about three other 4px and singpost items that recently (about a week ago) changed to "arrived country of destination" from "handed over to airline" which it has been since April. I am yet to be contacted about those ones sef.

So your June order may be moving but maybe not updated. Since NIPOST seems to have commenced 90% operations, transit within country should also be somewhat guaranteed.

Only thing you need to watch out for in case the status remains unupdated is your BP. Soon as it expires and your item has not been delivered, file your traded dispute.

Chat seller to discuss these things. Shipping method is often discussed and the price you want to pay for such. When you are through, ask seller to send you a PI (proforma invoice). The seller will send you this link in your message. You can then pay through credit card (just like in AliExpress) or decide to do a bank transfer. But whichever method you want just let seller know that you prefer a particular method. Below is me discussing with a seller.

Bàbá you be savage o. grin see as you just enter the guy viz - "is it hard to compute?"

Some of those guys find some challenge with English language and use translator softwares to communicate. Still it can be quite annoying when it seems the communication isn't getting anywhere.

It have loss

How can you tell?

Cos I have an item that according to tracking has arrived local PO since March (few days before FG commenced lockdown) but I have yet to be contacted even with the reopening of services. I have forwarded the tracking number to the postwoman demanding explanations for the delay. She said that the status update of arrival at local PO isn't to be reckoned with as the customs just resuming will just be carrying out their own job on it and it will be forwarded soon. I know she's probably lying or she doesn't know what she's saying because the item has long passed customs status before the March final arrival at local PO.

I just dey wait look am. I will make sure they dig it out of where they have hidden it. Probably it was stolen, but they will vomit it. It is a solar DC pump.

Hi all. My first time posting here.
I just want to put this information out here because it may be helpful to someone.

I lost my job during this pandemic,so I decided to buy a laptop at AliExpress to start small something online with my last card.

I bought a laptop at the rate of $240 with free shipping (juicy right?). Gtb charged 390/$ , so I paid the total of 93600. 5 days later, DHL sent a message with a link for a payment.

When I opened the link, I nearly collapsed. They were demanding 60k as Custom duty and tax. I later gathered my strength and emailed them, demanding to know how they calculated the charges. That was when I got the shock of my life grin. They said that they reassessed my goods at$1000 (Crazy right?)

That was how we started exchanging email upon email, they now demanded to see evidence of the $240. I now supplied them with bank charge, AliExpress email sent to me at the point of purchase, seller's invoice, the link to the store I bought the laptop (they can go and buy as well if e shock Dem grin) The bank charge, I made sure they saw my balance which is #435 grin.
So that they will know how broke I was grin

Well, after due consideration,my laptop was reassessed with the original price and the price fall yakata grin, I now paid18k7...

People of God,I'm happy to announce that I have received my lappy today.
Praise the Lord grin cheesy

Moral lesson: Sometimes,it is good to ask questions instead of swallowing everything thrown at us.
Onye ajuju anaghi efu uzo (person wey dey ask question,no dey miss road)

@ Bolded. You really cracked me up with that.

And thanks for the heads up. I may have swallowed without question what they'd thrown at me several times before now, especially those UPS guys (I once paid 18k duty on a 115k item). But I'll stoically take those as part of the learning process.

Now that you've said this, even I will question 2k custom duty even if it's calculated correctly.

Meanwhile did Russians hack AliExpress or what? Why am I been redirected to .Ru when I type .com?

To your question. It's not likely Russians hacked it. You may have opened your AE account on a PC, then inadvertently clicked on the language option tab (top right hand corner) and selected russian language.

Another way that happens is if you clicked on an item that is owned and sold by a Russian store on AE. The language in the store will be in Russian and going forward, it'll have reset your choice of AE to the "Ru" store language.

To correct that, you may need to go to language and reset it to English ( or click on the AliExpress global link)

How does this answer my question?

He implies non-specifically that it is still possible to get your item now that logistics especially within Nigeria and countries aside from Singapore seem to be picking up. And in addition, it'll be okay to chat up the seller on an arrangement to get the funds across to him.

I've had a few refunds over the past 3 weeks. Two items in those refunds have arrived. I still expect same scenarios to play out on a number of other refunds.

Honestly I don't know what could be done to solve this.

The one time I experienced something close to this was when I was on windows platform OS (Windows phone). There wasn't an official AE app for Windows phone, so I only had to make do with a third party app.

It was after an app update. I didn't have "forgot password" issues, so no problems with login. But once in, my cart was empty, down from 100 items in my original cart. I didn't note if there were changes to my orders, but my currency and country setting were definitely changed. I couldn't access messages too but I can't say if my messages were changed.

Can't tell if I did anything specific to correct it but after a while the problem resolved, probably after another app update. Sorry the details are foggy. This was almost two years ago. That's all I can remember.

Is the info when logged into PC also altered? Which info if yes? Did you use any login details aside your email (just curious, it's not that they're any login details aside email that I'm aware of at least on AE).

I know 1688 and a few others also use mobile number as login.

Yeah, some of the communication with them can be very frustrating. If you know how many times I've asked same question, you'll realise I'm trying so hard to remain cordial as the communication progresses.

I think the 18k you paid is at the right range. They said that their calculation is 7.5% and 5% for custom duty and tax.
