Hello Nairalanders. My name is Sam. I want to share my story with you on how I have been struggling with Type 1 Diabetes for nine years now. I am going to be brief as I will share other things related to my struggle with Type 1 Diabetes in my other posts.

I'm an only son and child of a single parent (if there's another life, I wish not to come to life through a mother who does not value being with a husband.) I'm 26 right now and I had Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 18. I graduated from secondary school at a young age of 16. But I have not been able to further my education because of type 1 diabetes.

I have to inject myself on a daily basis once, twice, three times or sometimes four times on a daily basis with insulin to control my sugar level. It is not something I like to do but I gotta do it to survive on a daily basis.

My problem here is that I don't even have the money to spend on the drug ( humulin). I have not been able to work for anybody because of frequent urination and the side effects of the insulin. I know that I can succeed in an online business in the midst of this but I don't have the money. But when I look back at the amount I've spent on drugs I've bought, I painfully wish to have had the money with me to start my online business.

Please Nairalanders, I need your advice on what to do. Doctors here too, I need your advice. I'm confused with my life. Please, check out the pictures below

See what people are passing through. Imagine having to inject yourself on a daily basis to stay alive.

May God heal you and give you joy.

But I've tried herbal drugs in the past with no solution. The doctor told me that my pancreas cannot produce insulin. This is Type 1 Diabetes and I have not seen anyone with a solution of healing the pancreas

Don't mind him, the ministry of health did not approve use of any useless herbal products for the treatment of any type of diabetes.
If that was the case, Nigeria and his Herbalist would be exporting it to the rest of the world, and making millions of dollars monthly.
You even know more than him and his Herbalists.
Frequent urination here means your glucose level hasn't been under proper control, and that's not good news.
The problem with type 1 DM is that your body is producing antibodies that are destroying the insulin-producing cells in your pancreas.
It's a chronic disease, and for type 1, the treatment is solely insulin replacement with dietary modifications.
There's no cure for it yet, except pancreas transplant, which is out of your reach.
Your use of insulin is lifelong to ensure optimal glucose control.
You have to understand this: you can't do without insulin, no matter how distressing and expensive it is.
One of the problems with diabetes is that it's an expensive disease, and that's very unfortunate.
To endure optimal control, you may have to give multiple times a day, especially as you're using short acting insulin, and this has to be by yourself.
That's the way it is everywhere. You need to understand and endure it.
You also need to get a glucometer to monitor your glucose levels regularly by yourself at home.
When the glucose level is properly controlled, complications can be avoided.
You're also supposed to have an Endocrinologist reviewing you from time to time.
Your goal should be to avoid complications by all means, by having a tight glucose control, and insulin is the only way.

I'd advise you do your finding first before crying scam, seems everything in Nigeria is now scam. Do you know Nigerian ministry of health has a branch that deals with alternative medicine? Which is herbal medicine? I know you don't, please Google Dr Robert Uzu then come back and tell me if he's scam. I don't know him in person, neither will I gain anything if this brother decides to try him out, all I want is for him to get a cure.

I used to make use of the glucometer at the early stage but couldn't continue because the price of the testing strips equals the price of the humulin. I started buying the humulin here in Delta State in 2012 for 3000 naira and has gradually gone up now to 5500 naira even some places 6000 naira.

Even injecting myself sometimes is a hurdle. I make use of the cheapest syringe which costs 50 naira. It's not easy o. I'm not from a rich family o

I understand, brother, it's not easy.
Diabetes is a rich man's disease, and not for the struggling.
