kokaneprodigy:What do you think will happen in the TW? Expect the following: Loans _option to buy Loans_no option to buy Promote_ Academy players who will impress in pre season Free transfers Young players around £5,£6,£8(the nobodinhos) Dead woods in their 40s from rivals or big teams And splashing big on media hyped players to appease fans after protests. ![]() BTW, Arterta has extended some contracts and he looks pleased with his favorite 11 he's been starting so far, Abi since Holding and Sokratis are deemed bench material. |

Fkhalifa:All these are speculative at best if u ask me. I’ll wait till TW, watch preseason, and first five fixtures next season before assessing the situation. Right now he can’t eat the players he has or smuggle new players into the team. |

Akinbahm:I’ve never said Xhaka is what we needed, some peeps here with ulterior motives just twisted my Xhaka/Guen comparison for their own purpose. I even questioned why Emery retained Xhaka as far back as last summer TW since guys opined Emery wants to play 4-3-3 |

I have always argued that Xhaka is substandard. Arsenal midfield died the day Carzola got injured in that UCL match against Ludogerets and Xhaka became the mainstay of our midfield play. His lack of abilities resulted in Coquelin having too much to do, got exposed and deemed not good enough by fans. Yet Coquelin looked a solid player beside Carzola. Xhaka is a big problem, players look worse than they are playing beside him. But the biggest problem is Kroenke, because we know he can't sanction the kind of money needed to get a better replacement for Xhaka if we sold him. It is clearly obvious that we don't have better midfielder than Xhaka currently, that's how pathetic our situation is. When he is injured, we suffer even more. The managers at Arsenal who are quick to embrace Xhaka are not doing so because they don't recognize his limitations, but because, they know there is no fund to replace him probably. Fans have to understand that in Xhaka and Mustafi, Wenger left us with nothing to build with and wasted meagre resources that Kroenke will not replace for us. Since we only get to have one marquee signing per season, I'd say we manage Xhaka, Torreira and offer Ceballos another loan deal for next season. Then throw all our budget on a marquee solid CB to marshall our defense. Our entire defence line needs a clean up. Sokratis, Mustafi, Chambers (average and perpetually injured), Holding (same as Chambers), Kolasinac (not a footballer, more of a wrestler, also injury prone) all have to go. If Auba will not renew and a decent offer comes in, we should consider selling and reinvesting on transfers. It's senseless saying we should buy Partey, buy this, buy that, when we know how scarce transfers for Arteta is. We should focus on defense first. Defense is the foundation of all winning teams that Wenger ignored for so long and it wasn't a coincidence that we stopped Wining big trophies since then. For me, I trust Arteta for now and believe that given adequate time and reasonable funding, he will get us on top in 2 seasons or thereabouts. |

kokaneprodigy:I think with the bolded, we would have been on same page. Your previous quote I quoted never talked about the mediocre kinda players we had nor waiting for preseason to fully judge the team. It talked about how we shouldn't be expecting win against Tottenham at their home nor winning every game and also talked about improvement of our play and all(even tho I'm not against the improvement, but my point was, spurs was there for the taking), which I disagreed on. But no p tho, I've already closed out this season, I'm waiting to see how our tf will be. |

Akinbahm:Please no more Chelsea aged players. We can't continue repeating mistakes of yesterdays and expect different outcome. Chelsea aging players never did us any good. From Gallas to Cech, Luiz We need better. No one should be mentioning Willian here. He is looking for retirement home. Emirates is not one. Three years contract for an aging midfielder. Totally not worth it. We should and can do better. Rather give the game time to our younger players to improve their craft than buy aging Willian looking for a place of comfort. We should get Marlang to replace Kolasinac on the Left. Marlang is just 21yrs, can play left CB and LB. His strong point is passing ability and speed. Very ideal for a possession based team that would also play highline when passing up the pitch and hence needs a speedy CB that can rush back to stop counters from opponents when play breaks down. He is free, if he flops, we can always cut our loses and resale. If Arsenal were a serious club not run by morons, this is a transfer we would have since concluded. Serious clubs like Chelsea, Bayern have almost concluded their transfers. Arsenal is waiting for people to finish buying the hot talents, then we go for left over cheap scraps. This club is cursed,I swear. Damn you Kroenke! |

Hmm... In as much everyone is shouting cb cb. I still feel cb or our back line can be managed till we sort the pressing issues at hand. Which are good DM, Am and good attack (wingers) before any cb. Come to think of it, our midfield was sliced open ystdy anytime spurs were attacking, only ceballos was making meaning tackles and interception(which is why we need good technical and robust dm). Our midfield lacked creativity except also for ceballos who tried to string things (tho xhaka gave an important key pass to bellerin which he flounder). Which is why we need good AM. As for attack, the less said about it the better. Pepe who supposed to be our goto guy for creativity in attack had a very sub par day ystdy and have been underwhelming this season. Auba isn't creative neither is laca. That leaves our creativity in attack blunt as hell. Once midfield and attack are shorn of creativity what do you expect our Cbs to do? Not alienating our cb tho, but the best form of defence is attack, and until we sort that then we can think of solving the cb issues. Let's take a cue out of klopps team. He first sorted attack and midfield, which yielded them top 4. Then he completed it with the defence which now won the league. And I think that's the best way to go about it. Order of priority(my opinion) DM Wingers AM Cbs |

kokaneprodigy:No. When he was done he was done. My problem is blaming him for the club's woes when the Kroenke owners are the actual problem. It's like Guen, I don't fancy him at all, but blaming him for our defensive performances is totally irresponsible. |

Jodera:Losing to Spurs yesterday is a blessing for me. Since are not going to finish top four this season, so must not finish any where near the Europa places. That said, it leaves us with less burden as we are no longer tops in England. The earlier fans get used to this the better informed we can be. Again, we are not going to sign Partey or Upamecano, or any top player. They will be joining the CL sides. The best we can do is to keep our best legs and get some academies up and running. The likes of Saka, Martinelli, Nelson, AMN, Nketiah, Saliba, etc are our high hopes if they click. They need our full support and prayers and not undue pressure. If they do well, we can make CL next two seasons plus good platform to sign our dream stars. If they fail na another season of of hopes and prayers. Any fan that assumes Kroenke will bring out 60m to sign any player and pay them big money to compensate not playing in the CL is living in fools paradise. |

Your picture even carry glo advert. If you have ear hear, Xhaka plays DM for us, but he is not a defensive midfielder. Aubameyang is not a winger. Saka is not a LB, he is not even a winger. AMN is not a RB. |

Spy360:Yeah.. Inasmuch as I don't expect us to buy a £60m player, but we can get good players on the cheap. There's Brazil league, France league and so on that we can get peak players from. Don't understand what our scouts are doing. Also, plenty players we can put up for sale and buy one or 2 key positions. Someone talked of fekir, I dunno how he was this season but his reviews at Lyon wasn't bad. We need to get shrewd signings and not all these hyped money-boggling signings. Also, I won't lie, I don't have hope in Nelson and willock from the few I've seen them play this season |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Nobody: 1:35pm On Jul 13, 2020 |
Spy360:You can try to deny this but he was part of the problem. I’ll cut a manager some slacks if I see he’s trapped and got no options to try out. Did Emery ever try a partnership of Xhaka and Ceb for some games other than rotating everyone else with Guen. If Emery had stayed a lot of players would have left, Emery would play Willock, Guen, Xhaka Nketiah all in midfield while he had Ceb, Torreira glued to the bench and he kept doing it despite a poor run of result. See what Ceb is currently orchestrating in that midfield? But Emery felt Guen/Xhaka partnership was the best we could get. If I feel we have better options on the bench for CB right now you think I will give Arteta a pat for sticking with Luiz and Mustafi despite their show of shame? That’s the difference. |
