I feel that the pre-1960s Awo was more mission focused for all the Yoruba people. Personally, I believe if he was allowed to rule the western region alone for 20 or 30 or even 40 years, we as a region would be much better off than we are today.

The post-1960s Awo, before and around the time of the war, had lost his way.

Awo understood long ago that Nigeria, being composed of different tribes, ethnicities and creed, had no business being together which was why he was a proponent of strong regions with states built around ethnic identities.
That was the pre-60s Awo.

For whatever reason after the British left, I guess like the Iron throne in Game of Thrones, Awo became attracted to the prospects of One Nigeria which is why he proposed aligning with Zik. Atleast this much we know to be true.

However, here is what I strongly believe. I believe if each region was allowed the right to govern itself, my region the old western region would be better off than it is presently. By better off, I am referring to the life of the average citizen NOT the welfare of the average politician.

Atleast the politicians of old understood certain things, today's breed do not understand a god damned thing.
Post independence Nigeria immediately threw up far more challenges than everyone expected.

Chief Enahoro once said that founding fathers including himself were too busy fighting for independence that they did not work out how to rule after independence. They thought as Africans they would work together amicably.

But events in Zaire Congo so early on soon proved that Africans could not work together.

The desire to rule at the centre probably became too strong to leaders including Awo.

Remember that Awo's desire to return as Premier split Western Region into Awo and SLA camps.
Something the North cunningly exploited.

Awo could have done what Ahmadu Bello did. He stayed as Northern Premier and sent his boy Balewa to the centre as Prime Minister.

SLA at the centre ring might have given Balewa a very difficult run for his money.

Your guess is as good as mine.

Falae who is gunning for Yoruba President of Nigeria knows that OBJ as president was not able to change the skewed political structure and governance system established by northern military dictators.

Give Falae a Northern stooge from Yoruba as next week, south of Nigeria still remains onlookers toward northern politicians moves.

Nigeria’s skewed political structure and unitary governance system are reasons for the struggle over which tribe produces president at every turn.

No there is no lie. We all know nigeria project is not working. We all know one working nigeria is a mission impossible. So now we all know the people who have sworn to remain in a project that won't work.

Well written.
Absolutely true.

I just feel like until we split, we all may never fully realise our true potential.

“This is the refugee camp of Nigeria. This is where everybody is welcome, accepted and looked after. That is the investment of peace we have been making from time immemorial"

Our brothers from the East can't fight this, though they're still very much UNGRATEFUL

“During the Civil War, when the Igbo went home, Governor Mobolaji Johnson looked after their property for them. Rents were in the banks and when they returned, their money was given to them to start life all over again.
“That is a fact. But the property they left in Port Harcourt were taken over by their neighbours and it took several years before some of them were returned to the owners.

Despite this, we're still being called names. To the extent that The late sage (Chief Obafemi Awolowo) kind gesture towards them concerning the 20000 pounds was seen as an ill treatment to them.

“We have demonstrated that we are the most accommodating, we are the cementing culture in Nigeria. So, there is no way we can secede. This is our home."
Nothing else to say
You see why you can't change from whom you're, a liar and a propagandist? Even a child born yesterday already knows that what was given to the Igbo people was only £20 and all the rest was share among Gowon and Awolowo who was the criminal that initiated the idea to Gowon, and here you're claiming they were given £20'000. Evil and wickedness is in your DNA.

The glue that is holding together to what end? To become the poverty capital of the world after almost 6 decades of existence? A nation ravaged by war, disease, and death in some parts? A nation where one region has succeeded in dominating and plundering the resources? I can go on and on.
If these these things are the reasons for the glue I Will suggest they unglue it asap as nothing seems to be working and the most disheartening thing is there is no light at the end of the abyss unless this glue is removed.

Re: Olu Falae: Yoruba Is The Glue Holding Nigeria Together by Jonathan39: 3:51pm On Jul 14, 2020
For your information it was 20 pounds and not 20,000 pounds. Don't mind those fools
RTSC:
Igbos are ungrateful because according to this old man ,awolowo gave a dominant ethnic group a paltry 20,000 pound after ensuring the death of millions and lose of unfathomable financial resources.

Una no well.

Your problem is that some of you don't know history. Igbos were given 20 pounds and not 20,000 pounds

Yorubas are not part of the Biafra plan and we will never consider a country with saboteurs
Sammy07:
Who is hyping Fulanis?
We and Fulanis never gree except maybe 2015 sha, because we've fought each other 3 times.

They can't win a United South, and BTW, the only way to leave this county is by secession or a United South sha.
Not by making mouth and threatening up and down like the Igbos are doing.

ChukwuObe:
I just hope that you are not dreaming of enjoying the same gestuure Chief Awolowo and Johnson extended to your family after the war when you secede this time. I have been telling Igbos that care to listen that you guys should be preparing your land before seceding because you and your family will not be allowed to come back to any part of Yoruba land. No one will allow you to eat your cake and still have it. It will never happen. You are free to take all your properties back to your land. Yorubas of today are not as gentle as Awolowo's era. We will enforce our own law and rules to give all our land back to our people. Any Yoruba in your land will be asked to come back home. A word is enough for the wise
Re: Olu Falae: Yoruba Is The Glue Holding Nigeria Together by Zionman24: 4:21pm On Jul 14, 2020
I'll give Yoruba credit for preserving Igbo's Properties during the war, and that's about that. However, when you're a glue holding a failed State like Nigeria together, you are equally part of the problem. All you have done are sit in the middle and play both sides. The middle man you're playing is working good for you , that is why you considered your self proud to be part of a failed State. Entire World knew that our abundant of Wealth is big enough to sustain us all and yet we're very poor . That speaks volume !
