Nigerians don’t even know what hacking means in the first place, so they just throw around the word anyhow like every other English word commonly misused by the majority. I could recall back in those years how some teens got hold of one tiny software which they used for pausing cybercafe time to extend the duration programmed ob the sold time-ticket, before you know it, the males teens in that community started hailing them by them hackers, that’s the Nigerian way. That’s around 2005/6, I used to be like - “do these fools know what hacking means” what should the Indians or Americans who made the software be called ?

Somone formats laptop system at Ikeja, they begin to call him an engineer. Calling people who are bot licensed to sell /buy pharmaceuticals products Chemist when they don’t even deal in chemicals and so on and forth

Also reminds me of Naija programmers especially when I was in school. Agreed oo, any program is success. I don't understimate what anybody does with programming. But then you will see people calling themselves programmers in Naija with no really notable app. You will build a calculator or one mumu game you will be bearing programmer. Nigeria IT guys are trying, but still a long way off. But till then, let's humble ourselves and quit the hype. Yahoo guy doesn't mean IT Genius, just someone with fraudulent skills.

one thing you don't know about hackers is they don't just hack any site for fun, they hack for personal gain gone are the days when it was just a fun thing to do, these days web security has improved so much that it takes so much effort and time to make a Hack successful, and by the way I believe you're new to niaraland cos this forum has been hacked and even after that it has been experiencing denial of service attacks

Boss, you are right this time but not necessarily mean every hacking has insider hand in it. Hackers can hack your product or network without knowing any insider. Any network system or software that is built by a human can be hacked. It may take a long time sometimes many years to find someone highly brilliant that can cut it. Look at the evolution of cryptography. Those crypto’s built in the 80s are pure water today. Then, those Engineers will be boasting that no one can crack their crypto's.
The safest computer is the one that stands alone in an enclosed tiny space or Faraday cage, that is air-gapped. Someday, crazy guys will still find a way to hack that too.

I agree but most times, hacking this big tech companies that parades some of the best software engineers/programmers, network/system security experts, etc. in the world is usually not easy without inside help. And another thing, this hackers can’t just pull off this kind of system breach just to demand for btc, they can comfortably hack some porous crypto exchange sites if that’s all they wanted. I believe/suspect that they just demanded for btc as a distraction to bigger agenda they may have.

I won't disprove that, but they too don't have many of those eight-year-old. You know what I have discovered about their system is that they know how to maximize talents once they spot them. They don't have 200 Mark Zuckerberg's or 100 Bill Gates' or 10 Michael Jackson's the way some of us think. They have a few, just like every other nation, but those few will be given an excellent environment to maximize their potentials. The few we got here are mismanaged. Bad roads and armed robbers have even killed them before they mature. The remaining survivals have been hijacked by nations that value them. I have been in classes with the so called wihizzkids. The majority of them are not unusual at all. Maybe in a class of 25, there will only be one exceptional American. Others na average. If you go to all these big IT companies, you will be surprised that the core brains behind some of their products are just 2 or 3 people. Others na "help me complete my church" (ba n kunjo). A CEO can die if those 2 or 3 people want to leave or hijacked by their competitors.
