My great people, i salute u all Special thanks to Those that are active on this thread. I wanna suggest that we create Whatsapp Group about this thread Thats my Opinion |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ceaser: 9:15pm On Jul 16, 2020 |
Gozik1: Sorry. I don't think that will cut it and I believe I am echoing the opinion of the majority. If this were to be on a WhatsApp group, chances that you'd have bumped into it and benefit as you do now let alone suggest the idea will be extremely slim if not remote. Besides I can't count how many wahtsapp groups I'm already on that I can't even go thru all messages. Some run into 10k unread messages. Before you know it now, some new entrants will be spamming the group with "make money fast" messages and other irritating irrelevancies. Abeg, e don do. Ndo. Why you go even think that idea sef? Cos that should be the last thing on the mind of anyone that has been here for a while. Haba mana. Why d'you wanna fix what isn't broken? 16 Likes |

Hi folks. Panel open circuit voltage 44.3v MPPT PV max voltage 150v Has anyone safely connected three of that Voc in series with a 150v max MPPT without dire consequences? I know 44.3.v in series gives 132.9v which isn't up to the 150v max. But I'm still worried nonetheless. NB: CC is a reliable one, having the type that has been in use for a long time and others too have given positive rating.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Namzy(m): 12:41pm On Jul 18, 2020 |
ceaser:If cc is reliable then why not? My panels sometimes hit 91v on max VOC of 100v (fangpusun 100/50) |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ceaser: 2:35pm On Jul 18, 2020 |
Namzy: Thanks. Well, yours is fangpusun. But this is PowMr. And shit just prove to me why it's not in the league of Fangpusun. I connected the three in series. Shit can't even take in 120v Voc. It momentarily shows 117v Voc and then the charging indicator refuses to show "solar input" sign. Knowing what that could mean, I immediately shut off the DCB to prevent damage to the CC. I then connected two panels in series and this yèyé controller picked up working. PV input at that point was 65v. To determine it wasn't just an off thing, I repeated 3s again and same scenario was replicated. Now I have put it back in 2s and one panel is redundant. I now get 450 watts, 200 watts short of the 650 watts I record on the 50 amps PWM that it replaced. Of course the PWM was on 3p. The system is 24v. Apparently in order to prevent damage to itself from over-Voc, shit first senses the Voc which was the 117v momentarily recorded and then it determines it it should allow solar input. That may be a desirable feature but this performance is really short of the 150v Voc specified for it. Another reason I may still forgive this CC is if it will not replicate this nonsense in a 48v system. Perhaps if it senses the battery voltage as 48, then it can allow that 150v Voc to go thru. In the meantime, I am sorely vexed with this thing considering the fact that I have two of it running a 24v system and this new install was actually one of two units I purchased which was delivered few days ago. In the connection process, I also lost a solar input monitoring meter that I forgot was maxed out at 60v input spec. I just placed the 117v on it and thing smoked right away. I may now try considering trying out the 60A version of its rival MakeSkyBlue that I have to see the performance. If it meets expectation then goodbye to PowMr and I will seriously shout out this information on the seller's store review. Namzy: By the way, your fangpusun is 12v/24v spec, right? 2 Likes |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Namzy(m): 2:49pm On Jul 18, 2020 |
ceaser:Yes. It's 12v/24v. The reason I was skeptical about your CC is due to somewhere I read in the manual that it has different VOC at 12, 24 or 48v connection. That was the ist time I heard of that as I usually know a CC has max one voc and current. That made me to forget the CC. I believe it may be max 100v and if I happen to use the CC will treat is as such. 1 Like |

@ceaser, no too vex naah, 80usd 48v 60amps cc, cant hv it all. The cc itself looks like a secondary school science project, its screaming cheapiieeeee to the high heavens I knew wahala dey...when they wrote 180v max voc on the manual...and 150v max voc on the cc itself .. Am running 3s2p 2i0w panels, max i have seen is about 106v or so...seems you r running 350w panels?. Dem no try at all, 117v not even 137v. Will check my manual and see if different voc are actually written for diff setups Edit: its clearly written on the manual, na you no read am 48v setup enjoys full functionality 2 Likes

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ceaser: 9:36pm On Jul 18, 2020 |
Namzy: @ Bolded. That explains it all. And to say that I neither realized this fact nor read it in the manual all this while that I've had this CC in installations around. I'll go thru the manual once again more carefully to see if it's noted there. Thanks. earthrealm: Thanks bàbá. Na me no read am well true true. I run 320 watts panel so I guess your 210 watts panel enables you to do 3s on it. My next soujourn will be around MakeSkyBlue. I need to determine that there are truly marked differences between the two and not just one calling the other bad name for the sake of it, even though they both have the same form factor. Las las, e be like say na dem EPEVER go settle this matter the way this thing dey go. |
