The ones constructed by Akpabio still stand the sands of time, whereas the ones constructed by Udom in his first term is now pot holes, of which, the state house of assembly called him order.

Let everybody's work speak on their behalf

When people mention human development in Akwa Ibom context, I wonder what they exactly mean by that. Yes, the development isn't spread across the state evenly (Eket has very horrible roads although slightly better than Ota). Other local government areas are severely lacking investment thereby jobs aren't generated and unemployment rises. Truth is: there is a limit to what the state government can do considering that she's in Nigeria. Nigeria has not witnessed economic growth of more than 3% annually meanwhile the population growth is above same figure. Akwa Ibom, unfortunately, cannot do more than the entire country. For the state to progress (and the rest of the country), there ought to be drastic constitutional changes.

One might say invite investors, nice. But there are certain factors limiting certain kind of investors into the state. The location of Dangote's refinery isn't located near the state where one can predict petrochemical industrial facilities or the Ibaka Port or railways linking the state to Anambra and North Central. Or Akwa Ibom cannot safeguard the maritime areas abut to her or the constitutional limitations surrounding electricity generation in the country.

Let's say I want to invest in a manufacturing facility in the state (most if not all the production facilities in the present administration were via PPP), I need to be close to the market or at best infrastructure. Unfortunately, Akwa Ibom has none. Which is why most companies cite their facilities in Ogun or at least Oyo.

Yes, we have a long way to go but Lagos gets it right in term of visionary leaders. You don't expect Lagos to become New York City over night, our income generation needs massive expansion which is consistent with what Lagos and Akwa Ibom States are doing currently.

There are a lot of infrastructure gaps that need to be bridged. Don't forget FG needs to assistant Inner States from Oyo, Kogi, Bornu, Enugu, Kano etc to attract industries and workforce to discongest Lagos population. All these require patience and visions.

Nigeria must try as much as possible to avoid distractions like what Kanu is doing. To a large extend, Nigeria is structure such that State govts are capable of attracting foreign investments, drive innovations, research and development among others.

Calling for breaking up of the nation is unnecessary and would set things back once more. The best thing activists and politicians should do is to demand for total resources control by negotiations and not by spreading hates
