June 30,2003...SAF drew the curtain on an illustrious 27-year United career. It has been up-and-down since then.
Liverpool last won a PL title in 1990. Even the initial 4 UCLs they won, they did in a space of 6 years pre-1990. From 1990 they suffered, won the UEFA Cup in 2001 & later UCL in 2005 on a fantastic night @ the Stadium of Hell, but yet it was obvious they needed to steady the ship.
They have done a good job now. Clubs pass through this phase, Real Madrid inclusive.
Chelsea had no phase sef until the Abrahamovic resurgence in 2004.

What standard will Chelsea set above Utd and/or Liverpool?
-That they are the first club to win the UCL and later drop @ the group phase the next season?
-That they lost in the first All-English UCL finals in 2008 @ Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow?
-That United and Liverpool have double the number of PL titles they have won.
-That Utd and Liv have both won more than double the number of times Chelsea has appeared at the finals of the UCL?

Chelsea has to imbibe the culture of humbility so as to allow Liv and Utd use Joy soap on them.

grin grin grin grin grin
I respect Chelsea, I like Drogba and I love the brand, UTD.

Yes oo

Over the last two decades, Manchester United have won more cups than any other big clubs in the world. Most of the youths at present aged 15-25 have heard Manchester United winning trophies throughout their childhood in the news and from people around them. So, most of them developed an interest in football with some part of them already a follower of Manchester United. Also, as they say, 'English Premier League is the most dramatic league in world' and Manchester United being the number one club in EPL, they have a high number of fan following. Can same be said about Chelsea?

As a United fan, I personally respect Chelsea for what they have achieved over the years since 2004 after Roman Abramovich took over the club. In a relatively lesser period of time they have won almost all available trophies and have consistently performed in the champions league holding up the premier league's pride. Chelsea are renowned for sacking their managers in quick succession if they fail to meet the ambitions of the club. Some people see it as a negative thing about them and it will obviously affect the stability of the club. The other side to it is what people fail to see or mention. It shows how demanding a club they are and how they became so successful within a few quick years.

Roman Abramovich doesn't accept being second best, Chelsea football club doesn't accept being second best. It is a highly appreciable quality. If you look at their London rivals Arsenal you can see how far they have fallen behind because the owners aren't demanding and since the club has accepted mediocrity as success. Finishing inside top four every season and an occasional cup triumph is good enough for them as they pile up revenues from other sources.

Not disputing the wins, but It's not about the numbers undecided undecided I personally don't judge by number of fans or followers, and maybe that's just me. what do I know huh
So the question is, are people more about the wins or more about showing commitment to a club? it seems to me from your comment and the trend (esp in Nigeria) is any winning club is where one should be, and the gloomy days should never be entertained. Both you and fergie have rightly stated that each team/clubs have had their days and some currently still do. Look at LP for example, 30 years!!! I personally know people who have been LP fans for over 15 years. Aren't they happy now? Does that mean if LP fails them next season, they'd port? I am for progress and accountability.
