Why Is It So Difficult To Get A Job In This Country? by Halfamilli: 7:33pm On Jul 24, 2020 |
How else do I say this and not look desperate? It's been eleven months after NYSC, and no job. It seems there might not be light at the end of the tunnel, I think I'm losing already. I pray for depression to stay far away. BSc public administer I'm based in Abuja Second class lower. Any job at all, all im begging for is to survive |

Halfamilli:In this country, there is work everywhere, but few jobs. Your needless search ends when you stop looking for Job. I know a graduate who started by going from house to house to wash people cars, today he owns a carwash. There is another that goes asking people to help them wash their cloths, today he owns a big drycleaning outlet. Start working today, and stop searching for jobs. 13 Likes |

the job no plenty jare... there is one particular moniker here, throughout 2019 s/he was looking for job, I mean, you could see him/her in majority of the graduate trainee threads. This 2020 nko? my guy don port, dey design and review CV/Resumé, can you just imagine? The thing is, keep searching, and at the same time, look for skills or work you think has great prospects (learn that skills where they have considerable number of clients, so as to increase your network). Budget like 6months for it. After that, if you're still finding it hard to get clients on your own, offer to work for free or little pay with those in the game already (those that are getting clients well o) From there, things will change. I believe. 4 Likes |

My brother, I'm tired. I'm so depressed at home right now. Suicidal thoughts have been passing through my head frequently. The pressure is too much on me, I don't really know how much more I can take. |

CyberEBOLA: You people should stop this stupidity please! The useless government has pumped stupid idea into your heads and you people are spreading it. What is the use of going to school if you want to become a cloth washer or a bus driver? The earlier we tackle the real issue of unemployment the better. Government will be preaching entrepreneurship but try to go and obtain loan first, even in government institution like BOI (Dem go dey use you dey play). Government is pegging youth unemployment at 33% (which is enough to cause civil unrest in many society). Some international organizations are pegging it at over 50%. How will a people or a country ever grow when you are sending mechanical engineers and other professionals to go and be hawking plantain chips? We are a caricature of everything, yet we cannot perfect any. You don't condition people to finish 5 years in higher institution to go and start learning road side mechanic. Are you serious! What kind of minds do we even have in this country? If people wants to go into a different career path it shouldn't be because they were conditioned to. You will see NYSC teaching graduate makeup. Puke! We can as well sell this country. https://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/countingthecost/2019/02/young-unemployed-nigeria-190216073358024.html 25 Likes 5 Shares |

Halfamilli: You might have to change career trajectory to something in high demand. But then, I wish to ask few questions: - How many jobs have you applied for (per month basis)? - How many aptitude tests have you written? How many did you pass? - How many interviews have you been invited to? - How did they go? That said, economic growth hasn't surpassed 3% in five years whereas population has grown above that. I recalled when I was in the university and going through NL's FP, there were lots of graduate trainee positions being advertised. Today, I haven't seen any. So everything boils to the economic growth of the country. 3 Likes |

CyberEBOLA: You for one lack analytical prowess. You have now become a record that sings what was put into it. A society cannot go beyond it's standard. In the 70s, an average Chinese or Indian was your cleaner. because those societies have not developed system that could measure up. Saying NIgerian graduates are not employable is like saying NIgerians are dullards. You expect an engineer that studied engineering with drawing board and T-square and some rusted machine to come out and become nano scientist? Nonetheless, NIgerians, are redefining themselves despite being under animalistic system that is not worthy of housing pigs. It breaks my heart that nitwits like you could have the gut to attack those who are suffering from inefficient system rather than attacking the system itself. 8 Likes 1 Share |

ehinmowo:AS USUAL, ANOTHER TRASH FROM A DEAD BRAIN. What Nigerians are facing today is a perfect reflection of what Nigerians truly are. Or are aliens in charge of the so-called system? Those years when the Chinese were Nigerian cleaners(according to you) were mainly before independence or not long after independence, when the system created by the British was still less tempered by Nigerians. Hand a perfect mansion to a troop of monkeys, and watch how they turn it into a forest! 1 Like |

tensazangetsu20: You'll be surprised that there are so many jobs out there. But rarely advertised. These days companies don't even advertise. Don't be surprised if i tell u there are firms that help these company look for individuals. Look at lots of people out there driving big CARS with 6 to 7 digits pay. HOW OF OF THEM REALLY SEARCHED? My brother everything in nigeria is now connection. Even the jobs you are crying to get, there's a company that gets profit just for getting individuals to fill available slots for employment. I stayed 4 years before I got this job of mine. Within that 4 years. I tried a business but it failed. So I was fixing computers for betshops AT HOME. Just to have small money in my pocket. I have very deep practical knowledge and a cv filled with so many qualifications. I am very skilled in mech(automotive) , elect(power/electronics,and control), and the computer aspect is really remarkable especially on the hardware side, even had training on offshore structures, cuz i love the offshore services. Studied about vessels. Still no job. To an extent my sister said I'm over qualified that's why i didn't really get calls. I had different layout of CVs. I was stuck to naira land job section. Sometimes I cried cuz i felt awful. 2017 I begged for an artisan job from my uncle. He hooked me up though was taking 40% of my pay. Sometimes the pay is 25k he takes from it. I had no choice. Sometimes I had garri for breakfast. It wasn't easy. Someone close to the site administrator noticed me and was curious cuz he oberheardy the way i spoke about how to generate power, and assets tracking. Even I didn't know him. He got to know about the sharing formula and felt pity. He contacted me and took my cv. 8 months later he linked me up to my current job that wasn't advertised. Its pays lil above 6 digits. So don't give up 10 Likes |

gonkin:Bros I am also from the maritime field and it's not something in demand. You will suffer to get a job there. Mechanics can easily get a job but the salary is rubbish. Dealerships pay like max 150k. That's a very useless salary. I am talking about real skills needed in today's world. The jobs are there and are advertised. Betking is currently looking for a data analyst. The salary is above 800k. How many people have the skills to fill the jobs. You will be surprised to go to the interview and see just 5 people. Angel list alone has over 32000 tech related jobs listed. People are swapping good jobs like mad. It depends on the industry o and the skills you have if it's in demand or not. The whole world is changing now. The great thing about jobs in demand fields or that require specialised skills is that they can't use connections to fill them. Betking can't employ a data engineer on connections. It would break their business. They need someone who would hit the ground running immediately. The jobs are there but the question is do you have the skills to do the job? 5 Likes |

Re: Why Is It So Difficult To Get A Job In This Country? by tensazangetsu20(m): 2:16pm On Jul 25, 2020 |
vheckthor1:Bros yeah but then as a developer you can't just apply to one job and sit down. You have to be applying to at least 30 jobs a day. If it takes 100 job applications to get 10 interviews. 500 job applications will bring in 50 interviews. Common one can land one job out of 50 interviews and you have just 200 applicants for one job not bad. Some fields 3000 people to one job. The good thing you are in a field that the jobs exist. On angel list alone there are over 32000 jobs. On Upwork between 6 am and now more than 600 jobs have been posted. Those are just two sites o out of thousands. I never even mention linkedin and indeed and co. |
