please i need someone to explain better to me, I have been curious to ask, will I determine to stay away from sin or pray God to help me stay away from sin

He helps us And you have power to override Him on one hand and on the other, there is a time that you yourself Knew that you were able to withstand temptation and that you if you had truly desired to overcome temptation, you could have.

Do you know why God cannot send Jesus to come and die again?
It's because there's NO law, NO sin and NO sinners to die for.
God has no memory of your sins.. there's nothing you can do or have done that's so powerful than the blood of Jesus Christ.

God is the one to do it through His own Spirit living inside of those who are born again.

Unfortunately, since many have chosen to ignore the Spirit of God and the significance He plays in the lives of the born again, people have taken instead to preaching salvation through God's grace which ignores the need to become born-again and so they too get to take the job of avoiding sin on themselves.
Problem with all that is it has nothing to do with God at all. And anyone who does not have the Spirit of God leading them in all things will definitely not enter the Kingdom of God here on earth and after the final breath.

Thanks, but in the case of addiction, one feels powerless and it is as if the addiction determines even if i dont want to do it i can't just help myself,
any advice?

Addiction is a serious problem which must be avoided at all costs.

But if you are in, My honest approach would be to suggest the doing of the opposite Extremity, for Addiction is an Extremity which can only be beaten by its opposite Extremity so that you can thereafter even out.

1. God gives you the grace to endure without the situation destroying you.
2. He has given you His Word to help you reprogram your mind to succeed against all odds.
3. He has given you the Holy Spirit to warn and guide you so that you don't make costly mistakes
YOU
1. You have the responsibility to obey God even at the cost of your life
2. You have the responsibility of feeding your soul with the word of God
3. You have the responsibility of having FAITH (TRUST) in God for whatever the outcome of your obedience is.

NOTE:
SATAN is the Source of all Temptations (God doesn't tempt people)
God will not allow you to be TESTED beyond your capability of endurance

Sin can be an addiction and this is why the Spirit of God is indeed the one who can and should handle it.
As long as the person submits to the lead of the Spirit of God, God is able to cause immediate change in the life of even the one who has been previously fighting an addictikn.
