Hello mamas. Please help me o, how can I receive pain from cracked nipple? Please note that this is the only breast my baby sucks from as the other one is inverted. I express from it in a bottle and feed her. Please should I continue breastfeeding her with the cracked nipple? My MIL is saying its her mouth that will heal it. Please is this true? Thinking I should give the nipple a break for a while because it's really painful when sucking it.
Your mum in law is right keep putting baby to breast also try the other...its just for a while it will heal... if you give it a break, it can turn into mastitis.

Not really a break as such ma. I plan to express from it from time to time and be feeding my baby the expressed milk.

First, the issue of your breast milk production needs to be addressed. Is your breast sore because you are unable to produce much milk?
If that is the case, you can get Milk booster lactation cookies, you can check on Instagram. Those cookies work wonders. You can start with 2 cookies per day while also taking pap and your breast milk will be in excess so much so that your baby may not be able to consume the quantity you'll be producing.

If it is the Nan, someone told me that Nan often makes babies poop to either be strong or difficult to pass out.

Also, babies do not necessarily poop everyday as their body takes as much as it needs. If you wish to help the poop, my MIL uses a little mentholatum on cotton bud to tickle the bum so the stool comes out.

Wow Ubiero, haven't heard that trick before. Oh how I love this support group of mommas, there's something new to learn each time u visit.

Just to add, how do you know she's constipated? The groans and struggles and cries of discomfort associated with pooping at this age are very normal. It doesn't signify constipation. It's just them trying to figure out how to poop. Sometimes the dont succed in getting it out but they eventually do. If the poop is strong/hard/formed, then u can diagnose constipation. But if it's still soft and kinda watery then she's not constipated.

There's no definite number of poop per child. Your baby's poop rhythm is unique to her. There's only an average that's wide to encompass every child. So while some poop 7 or more times a day, others poop 0-1time a day. Most important thing is she getting enough food intake. How her system uses up the meal at different stages of her growth is entirely unique to her.

If the poop isn't hard (that is, still soft and watery-like) then she's fine. Kindly refer to my earlier post on a certain trick with Warm water that helps the girl-child poop easily. However, if she's truly constipated, I also heard pumping warm soapy water into the anus helps bring the hard poop out almost immediately (there's a special child pump for this purpose).

Lastly, sorry about your sore boob. Don't give it too much of a break. Constantly pump it to maintain your flow and reduce pain. If hubby doesn't mind, he can also help you with this(he doesnt have to swallow of course #smiles). Also Using formula, follow the directions of the product. Don't add or subtract. Nothing like LIGHT or HEAVY formula preparation. Your just messing with the child's tummy. Follow instructions and maintain it strictly. As long as its for the child's age, it'll be OK.

Is the poop hard? If no pls let her be its normal at that age to grunt for days before they poop . Just make sure you follow the guidelines for the formula feeding and lots of warm water.
Some babies poop often some poop once in days. Take notice of her poop pattern, nature and color.

On your own side make sure you don't joke with fruits and veggies. She'll get them from your breastmilk and will help her digestive system to avoid constipation.

She is too young for any experiments. See your doc if you are worried.

On the other side pls I want to know what makes you think your breast is soured and your docs response to it. If you don't mind.

It's very normal momma. She's just trying to figure out which muscle to contract that'll make the poop come out. Sometimes it frustrates her when she tries and she can't get the poop out, hence the grunts and cries. But she'll outgrow it when she's 3-4months tops.

In the meantime, there's a trick to help the girl-child with this. Steadily pouring warm water from a little distance on her labia during bath time helps them to contract the right muscles instinctively. When pouring the WARM water, she'll pee and poop. Keep pouring until she empties her bowel(you'll know it's empty when she's pushing and no poop is coming again). Sometimes she'll just pee and no poop.. Just means there's no poop in her bowel at that time. If you do this, she won't grunt as much again cos she doesn't feel the need to poop.

I don't think there's a trick in this aspect for the boy child... At least none I know of.

My experience.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate, I’ll try what you said

Hello mamas, please help chook month. My baby stretches and grunts a lots these days and my MIL said its navel things that we should get Gripe Water for her. I asked a matron and she said she can't use it that we should get Nospamin. I got the nosman and it doesn't seem to be working as the stretches and grunting continues so MIL is still saying we get the gripe water. She said even a day baby can use it that who gave me wrong information. Please what do you have to say on this. Thank you.

I used gripe water for my first son cos his colic was very serious. The foreign brand. I got instant relief with several large belching.

Hello ma, pap should not be the only meal to be given to babies. Also try introducing semi solid meals to babies.
Try as much as possible to introduce several meals so that babies can easily get used to them at their earlier stages.

Just to add to what angeltolly said, use washcloth dipped in warm boiled water and pinch of salt. They dislike the cleaning process and cry alot. So kindly pay attention to LO while cleaning so u know when s/he has held breath for too long, when this happens, remove your hand from mouth and let them coordinate and catch their breath.
Why the salt pls? I was asked to clean with soft wash cloth dipped in water morning and night for healthy gum.

Hello mama. Pls i sent you a mail request. I need to ask some questions about pain in the hand o
JGracious:

Pele..The pain will go gradually. It is related to childbirth.
It is either carpel tunel syndrome or tenosynovitis.
I experienced same and its over a year now but the intensity pain has only subsided.
From what the doctor told me as mine was diagnosed as tenosynovitis, do your best to lose the pregnancy fat and keep fit.

I had same experience and mine was even the two nipples.
What I did was that I continue giving my lo to suck though very painful but they were all healed.
Pls don't give it a break o, that might result to something more serious.

Good morning Mummies, please am new here. I am a first time Mum. My baby is three months old and has stuffy nose which he suffers most at night. I have gone to the hospital and I was given crystal menthol but that thing is too harsh. He has had it for over a month. I bought saline drops it offered some relief but they are expired and I don't want to get another one I just want it to go. After a friend's advice. I have been doing steam for my baby since Saturday, morning and night. Just yesterday I was told to give him vit c please is there something else I can do to relieve him of this it's becoming a nuisance.

Cough started 3 days ago but wasn't obvious but during this night he has coughed 3 times.

And please the nights that are hot how do you cool the room with baby in it? I usually on the AC for sometime switch it off, wait for the temperature to come down a bit before we go into the room. Please how do you cool your room with a baby in it?
