Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi says Nigerian government has the capability to pay back loans collected for the construction of rail projects within the stipulated period of 20 years.

Amaechi, in a statement on Saturday, said China was the only country giving out loans with a low interest rate of 2.8 per cent.

He said no country in the world would give out a loan without a guarantee to pay back such loans.

“The trade agreement between Nigeria and China, the ministry of transportation does not take loan, everything about loan is directed to the Ministry of Finance, so, I couldn’t have signed any loan because I don’t take loan.

Amaechi is far smarter and informed than the people giving him a headache. If the reps want to help they can start by slashing their unearned jumbo pay in half.

I don't know why you people are scared of China. It's all this US propaganda on Youtube and Twitter.

You weren't afraid when the whites with their IMF and World Bank were sending you rip-off loans at 30% interest rate with nothing to show for it. China is actually BUILDING STUFF we can see, with their loans, from rail to roads to airports, power plants, dams etc, and THEY are the ones that are a ''threat'' to us?

Things like these makes me understand that most Nigeria are really foolish. Honestly, they would rather stay with basic infrastructure than see these infrastructure built and pay back in time (which they will not even notice as time runs fast).

The US they are shouting up and down, so they know how much the US owe China?

Western media has made everything non_western evil.
We
need to sit down and look at it logically.
Nigeria has been struggling to fight BH for decade, US
has
never shown any genuine support, infact, at a time they're
were technically supporting BH by blocking every
opportunity
to access weapons. Whereas, the same US has been
building sophisticated millitary bases all over Africa with
several billions of dollars even all over islands in Africa.
In a
continent struggling to provide as basic thing as clean
water,
road, edu, etc. In term of infrastructural development, US
hasnt built anything tangible anywhere in Africa despite
her
big economy and influence.
On the other hand, China is building projects across
Africa
from electricity to train to Airport, roads, scholarships to
Africans, etc even with their own money. Let's say we
can't
pay and they take over them, who would still be using
those
infrastructure, Chinese? At least they brought them here,
so
if we can't pay back and they take over them these things
would still be in use by Africans and improve quality of
life,
just like every private business.
US/Trump that everyone is supporting call Africans all
kinds
to unprintable names, visa ban, reporting weak sides of
African nations and continuously ridiculing everything we
do.
The list is long. China hasnt done any of these yet,
western
media still find their ways into the hearts of Africans to
hate
Chinese. Sadly, enough some fake pastors joined this
brainwashed citizens.
Look at China, how many times have they tumbled
African
govt? How many nations have China invaded in Africa?
How
many times has Chinese embassy criticize our local
affairs?
Etc
New York started have underground train in 1809, that's
200yrs, they never extended such to Africa. China started
booming just 20yrs ago and they've extended everything
technology they have to us, that have improved our lives;
From phones, train, Good Airport, Naval ship, Telecom,
Roads, scholarships, etc
Africans must sitdown and think. China is not your
enemy.

So because US is not supporting we have to sign away our sovereignty to China

The way some of you reason on the forum is unbelievable

With Buhari's crippling all the businesses especially in the South,

Amaechi and the finance minister should tell us what measures this government has put in place to ensure that this loan is payable in 20years that could warrant signing away the sovereignty of your country

How much will these rails rake in How many people uses the rail, is profit from the rail transportation enough to pay for the loan in 20years

If I am in the HoR, I will just order that the one collected should be paid, cancel the contract and look elsewhere

No project is worth your freedom!!!
