In 16 century, the white men hired many Igbo labourers in the south east to work in Ikwerre land. During the eastern region government the Igbos were dominating Ikwerres in Ph, started changing names of their villages and streets to Igbo names.

In the civil war, the Igbos almost obliterate the Ikwerres, just to claim their land. Elders in Ikwerre who are above 50 and 60 years would understand what am saying. It was the Nigeria soldiers that saved Ikwerre people.

After the civil, and a new state state was created by Gowon, the Ikwerre people started changing the names of their streets back to its original.

Please I beg you to stop making the ikwerres look foolish. Imagine the nonsense. So those imaginary igbo labourers that came to work in ikwerre changed ikwerre to igbo and the ikwerres were looking at them and applauding them. Wow. This is the funniest story I've ever heard since this year .

Ikwere has not be changed to Igbo. They are who they are Ikwerre.
I only butress how they first came in contact with the Igbos. You were dominating the eastern region government. You used that authority to change the names of their streets.

Wait let me ask you. Were ikwerres the only people in the eastern region apart from the igbos? Why did the igbos not try to dominate the ijaws, itshekiri, calabar people?

Itshekiri was in Mid West

Ikwerre were not the only ethnic group

Igbos dominated the Ijaws, you used their oil to be developing only Enugu and Ijaw people were unemployed and shortchanged, the reason Adaka Boro declared Niger Delta republic. He wanted his people to be free from Igbo oppression. Guess what, Adaka Boro was arrested by your people Aguyi Ironsi and Ojukwu, he was sentenced to death.

Akwa ibom and Calabar was oppressed too, they have complained about how you guys changed the names of their streets.

You know what, you young generation of Igbos are mostly ignorant of the past. You wondered why the people in the south south dont want to associate with you people. May be you should start asking your father questions. The people in the south south, young once dont hate you.. No

But their father hate your father for what they experienced in the eastern region and the civil war.

Rejection is truly painful.

between the Ikwere claims of originating from Edo and that of you who claim to be mongrelized Jews which is more believable?

You can keep repeating the same arrogating foolishness which led to the ND rejecting you

You people never learn.

The civil war happened yesterday

Ikwerre has no link with the Igbos until 16 century when the white men started bringing Igbo labourers from the east to work in Ikwerre land.

That would not be possible, the white man was not in Ikwerre land in the 16th century or even the 17th century. The colonization of the area now known as Nigeria did not start until the early 18th century when slavery was banned.

Besides, why would anybody need to go somewhere to get labourers to work Ikwerre land when the Ikwerres themselves are there? What was this incredible thing that was been built in Ikwerre land that needed the importation of labour?

Lets even assume that there was need for additional labour to build something in Ikwerre land, why didnt the white man go for Ijaws and Ogonis who are nearby?

Your story simply does not make any sense

How did Igbo get to Cameroon to work in plantation in early 1900. Why didnt the white men use the Cameroonians for the job?

This is a quote from Ikwerre scholar, sorry I mixed the year, it was 19 century.

From Professor Simeon Chituru Achinewhu

"The first neighbours Ikwerre man encountered was the Riverine people of Kalabari and Okrika.Ikwerre man had no contact with an Igbo man until the 19th century only after the advent of the white man when roads were opened. The climax was in I913 on the acquisition of Port Harcourt from the Rebisi people. The white man was looking for labourers and the Ikwerre and the surrounding neighbours ie Kalabari, Okrika and Eleme refused to be labourers. The white man therefore had to penetrate the Igbo hinterland and recruited very willing labourers. That was the beginning of Igbo man's adventure into Ikwerre"
